Mike grunted as he struggled under the weight of the werewolf. Though he kept himself in shape, Mike couldn't do much against a slobbering ball of fur. It lashed out and struck him on the cheek with a claw, resulting in a cry of pain. He grunted, straining for his gun which had been knocked aside. It wasn't his department issued gun, but his own which was loaded with silver bullets. Come on, man. You can get it, he coached himself. He just had to stretch a little bit further.
Mike had almost given up when his fingers finally reached the cool metal. Yes! he silently cheered. He then, brought the gun closer, and then hit the werewolf on the side of its arm.
While it didn't seem to hurt the creature, it did cause it to stumble back in surprise, allowing Mike to aim the gun at the creature's shoulder. Then, he fired. With a roar, the werewolf fell back. "At least you get to live," Mike told it and then collapsed to the ground, watching as it raced off. He raised a hand to his cheek. Wonderful. I'm gonna have to lock myself up, he thought to himself. Just then, he heard a rustling. "Who's there?" he demanded, his body going on alert.

Captivity; you’d have thought that she could deal with being locked up and kept manacled so if she did shift into a werewolf. You’d be wrong; the manacles triggered her PTSD and she shook silently as memories flooded her mind. It was like the “Three AM Terrors” that some people had; those doubts of your purpose and place in the world and the realization that you are a small dust mote in reality. Control was an illusion after all. She knew that better than anyone she had constant reminders that she controlled little. It made sense, after all the minute she evoked the control she did have it would fade away like the wind in the fall leaves. She didn’t know whether Machiavelli or Sun Sui had said that but it struck an ironic note in her mind. After all if you did not exercise power in the vampire community you had to watch your back. She exhaled slowly, blowing the air out through pursed lips. Her head hurt, she was slightly dehydrated but she didn’t want to risk drinking anything and puking. She felt frustrated all to hell that she had to be here at all. She bloody well knew she was immune to the virus or whatever it was that caused the were transformation. Her ex boyfriend joked that if she ever turned she’d be a freaking were unicorn because she was too busy looking for good people to hang with.
FML is this what I’ve got to do for the next two days its gonna suck like no other. she thought as she felt around and found the keys to her manacles. It took some work to do it, but she was double jointed. She could work one hand free and use it to unlock the other. Crazy? Maybe, but she had to pee, and she wasn’t going to ask Trent to help her. She wanted some control over her choices and it began with trusting herself for five minutes.
After she was done she came back, her relief was palatable as she took a breath and looked at the manacles. She tilted her head and heard the sounds of a fight not that far off. Shit, someone decided to try and go all Rambo on a were. When would they learn not to do that? she thought then smirked as she thought that it would probably be when she stopped getting herself into dashing heroics. She may have been too pretty to die but that didn’t mean she couldn’t. Ahh well, she noticed the window was open and moonlight was pouring in. Grabbing a step stool it was a simple thing to open the window and wiggle her ass out onto the grass. Trent could fuss later, there was some rescuing to be done. She would totally not let some guy become a happy meal with legs for berserker Benji. The problem was that all she had on her was what was on her and that consisted of her cell phone and her rape whistle that she’d gotten in one of those ever popular booth fairs that they put in the student memorial center to make students buy crap they didn’t need. She had some chewing gum. That would be good. If she died the coroner would note she had minty fresh breath. She did have a dagger on her but it was so small it didn’t even count as a weapon unless you were Chuckie.
Moving towards the feelings of pain she came into the clearing and saw Mike trying to drag himself up. There was a cut on his face. She sighed and walked towards him, “Mike, what happened to you?” she asked as she looked him over and helped him to get his bearings.

Mike visibly relaxed when he saw Marina. "Oh, you know. Just thought I'd go for a stroll in the woods. Didn't expect to meet the Big Bad Wolf on steroids," he joked, carefully standing up. Okay, easy does it, Mike, he thought to himself. He put a hand to his cheek, which was starting to throb. "Aw, man. That's gonna leave a mark. If Jesse was here, he'd so kick my ass," he groaned. Then, with some embarrassment, "Pardon my language." He then put his gun on safety and pocketed it. "Thanks for the rescue." He turned his attention back to her. "So whatcha doin' out here, besides trying to save my butt?" he wondered.

"Werewolves are pretty grumpy during the full moon. I dated one a few years back. Didn't end well." she admitted as she looked up at him. "You look like you just got scratched. Is that all?" she asked him gently. She looked at him and brushed her hair out of her eyes.
"Whose Jesse?" she asked as she beckoned him to follow her and walked her way back to Trent's place, "You're welcome. I got scratched by one of those yesterday and no one believes me when I tell them I'm immune. A friend was keeping an eye on me. He's probably going to scold me for leaving but I heard your fight and I didn't want anyone else to get hurt. My friend Zach was bit last night and he is going to have to live with it, but maybe I can help you my blood has antibodies against the werewolf virus. If we can find a way to get those into you it might work..."
She massaged her neck where Trent had bitten her. She wasn't expecting to have all this happen to her it was a bit of a tangle and a half. Trent had just gotten back and they'd gone from one date to him biting her after a three week hiatus due to homework or whatever. Now there was Mike and Darryl. "Mike, you're going to have to tell Darryl you got scratched. If my blood doesn't help you you'll need him. He's the local werewolf Alpha. His pack isolates themselves so they don't bite people. Whatever were scratched you wasn't a part of his pack. Normally I wouldn't dream of outting another supernatural but you need to know and you've already had some experience from what I've gathered."

Mike nodded in agreement when Marina stated that werewolves tended to have bad moods during the full moon. "Yeah, I'll say," he commented. He looked at her in surprise when she mentioned that she had once dated a werewolf. "That must've been a bit dicey," was all he said. He wasn't going to press on how it had ended since it was none of his business. "The scratch is the main thing. Other than that, some bumps and bruises...I got lucky I guess," he replied in answer to her question of whether or not anything else had happened.
Then she asked him who Jesse was. "The guy who introduced me to the supernatural world a long time ago," he answered. Then, "How is your blood an antibiotic?"
His eyes widened in surprise when Marina told him that he'd have to go to Daryl, who was the Alpha in Los Angeles. "Wow. There's something I didn't really see coming," he mumbled to himself. Though, he couldn't say he was surprised that Daryl kept it from him. After all, they didn't really know each other that well. "Yeah, I get it. Neither would I. As long as they ain't killing anybody unnecessarily, they got the right to live their own lives," Mike agreed. "Do you wanna see if your blood will work?" he asked.

She shrugged her shoulders softly, "I got raked across the side once when I didn't know what he was but it went away. That's how I know I'm immune. I got really sick but my fever broke and that was about it. I suppose it means I have to be careful that I don't get too much of a dose but so far so good." she beckoned him to follow her as she followed her route back the way she came. "I'm sure you're friend Jesse could help you out if he was here but Darryl's a good guy. He'll help you out if what I do doesn't help.
She looked at him, "Well my dad has a bit of the antibiotic saved up in case it was needed. My friend Trenton could probably go get it. He's got full access to the house. He should be able to bring some back and we can inoculate you against the scratch and hope for the best. in the mean time we'll just get you cleaned up. Regardless of werevirus those claws are nasty."
She soon saw the house and knocked on the door, waiting for Trent to open it. "Just try and relax. I'll let Trenton know you're a friend of mine and it should be okay." she murmured as she looked over at him and stood at the door.

Mike listened as Marina explained that she had gotten scratched but that the mark had faded and she had gotten a fever, but nothing worse, which was how they knew that she was immune. "Well, I guess that's something. You must've freaked out a bit when you got hurt though," he commented. "I mean, heck, I'm freaking out and I've known about this world since I was a kid," he continued.
He nodded in agreement that Jesse could probably help him if he was here. "Yeah, he could. Not that I know where he is. Even though we've kept in touch via phone calls, he's never given me a location...though I suppose it's safer for him that way," he stated. Then, "Yeah, he is, but hopefully he won't have to," he replied as he began following her.
When they got to the house, Mike watched as Marina knocked on the door and explained that her father had a bit of the antibiotic stashed away and that at the very least, they could get his scratches cleaned up. "Yeah, I'm not exactly looking to get a scar," he stated. She then went on, telling him to relax and that she'd let someone named Trenton know that he was a friend and that things would be fine. "That's fine," he told her.

"Oh I was scared but my ex boyfriend nursed me through the fever. He was...sad that I didn't turn. I think he was hoping I would so he wouldn't be lonely." her voice trailed off and she got a sad look on her face. She still felt bad about Philip it weighed on her and some days it was better than others. As it was she was feeling pretty exhausted from everything that week and just wanted to relax and lay down. Soon enough they would see if the vaccine of her blood would work.
"I'll do my best but you must promise me that you'll tell Darryl what happened. Its not my place to out him and he needs to know why I did it." she said as she waited for the door to open and looked at him, "I'll make sure you don't scar. I'm really good healing up injuries." she said to him a bit ruefully. She wanted to make sure he didn't feel worried or upset.

Mike watched as her face became sad when she mentioned an ex-boyfriend who had wanted her to turn. "I can understand that to an extent. From what I've learned, they're very pack oriented and tend to gravitate towards others of their kind," he commented.
He then nodded when she said that he had to promise to tell Daryl what had happened because it wasn't her place to do so, but that he needed to know. "Yeah of course," he stated. And he would...if the immunization didn't work. After all, he would probably need some help. However, if things did work out like he hoped, there would be no reason to let the wolf out of the bag...so to speak. He looked at the door and then back at Marina. "Maybe your friend's not home...or is asleep," he suggested.

Sighing she looked at Mike sadly, "I know. I was just immune and didn't turn. It hurt him greatly but the change broke his mind a bit. He...was never the same afterwards. He got territorial and aggressive. Not towards me but other males at times and it just got to be too much. It was a mess." she shook her head sadly and picked up her pace. So much pain and suffering.
"Good. Darryl is nice and I'd hate him to be upset." she said with relief as she knocked on the door, "Trent!! Come on open the door..." she sighed, "We're gonna have to crawl in through the window. He's a vampire you would think he would hear me tromping around like a bull moose." she muttered as she went around the side and found the window. "I'll crawl in first and then you." she said simply as she slithered back into the room she was staying in. "Trent can you please open the door?" she called.

Trent had been in the middle of feeding in his secret chamber when he had heard the voices. Even though the room was sound-proofed, the vampire was still able to hear everything that happened in his house. He unceremoniously removed his fangs from the man's neck. "Stay here. Don't try to run," he told the man, using more of his compulsion. He then walked out of the room, locking it and headed back to the one-story house where he heard Marina talking to another male. That sounds like that detective I've seen around town, he thought to himself as his brows furrowed in concern. Had something happened to Marina?
Then he heard her say that they would have to go around and that she was surprised that he had not heard her stomping around like a bull-moose. "Actually, I always thought that you walked like a gazelle, Bella," he commented, opening the door. He then stepped aside and motioned for the two to enter.

She blinked as Trent opened the door, "Oh good you are home. Can I ask a big favor??" she asked as she beckoned Mike in. "This is my friend Detective Mike Corbett. He got scratched by a werewolf. Can you go to my dad's place and go into the mini fridge that holds my medicines? It should have vials and syringes and such of my antibodies. It will say something like MS11456 or something like that. I think if we inject Mike with it it will help him build an immunity to becoming furry once a month." she said as she looked up at Trent with a pleading look.
She snorted, "I am about as close to a gazelle as a bear is to a ballarina." she laughed softly, "But thank you for the flattery nonetheless." she walked up to him and dabbed at the side of his mouth, "You missed a spot." she said as she handed him the handkerchief and gestured to Mike to sit down. "Sorry this is so unexpected. I heard something and snuck out. I told him you could yell at me when I got back." She didn't look particularly repentant at her escape nor did she tell how she had managed to get out of the room she was in. She just went about making sure Mike was okay as if breaking out of cells was all in a days work for her.

As Marina went over to Trent, Mike took in the vampire's appearance and saw that his shirt was covered in blood. Oh, wonderful. I interrupted his feeding, he thought to himself. Experience from when he was a kid hanging out with Jesse had taught him that interrupting a vampire's meal could be iffy at best and fatal at worst. It was when they were completely focused on their animalistic nature and appeasing it. "Sorry for interrupting," he apologized. "I normally wouldn't dream of barging in on a feeding, but it's an emergency," he continued. "I promise, as soon as I get the shot, I'll leave and you can finish," he stated.

Looking at Trent's shirt she sighed, "Okay you, off with the shirt. We have company over no need to bleed all over the place." she said as she held her hand out for the garment, "I do not want to know how much you spend on clothes." she muttered as if interrupting Trent's feeding wasn't dangerous. "You want me to throw it out or save it?" she asked as she looked at him and then back at Mike, "Just relax, Mike we'll get this ironed out." she said simply as she looked back at Trent and cupped his cheek, "Sorry for barging in." she said softly to him as she looked into his eyes and sighed softly. This was not normal no matter how you sliced it. Someone had a hole in their neck or worse. It was a bit of a different situation for her to be sure.

At Marina's question of whether or not he could get the serum for the human in front of them because he had been bitten, Trenton nodded. "of course, Bella," he answered. He was about to go out the door when she stopped and him told him to take off the shirt so that he wouldn't bleed all over the place. "Hmm...Good idea. Even if I used my speed, it'd probably be noticeable," he agreed, removing the shirt, going to his bedroom, putting on a clean shirt, and and then walking back out. "Just leave it on the floor," he said in response to Marina's question. "Don't worry about it,"] he assured her. "I will be back in a moment," he promised and then sped out the door towards Reginald's house.
Inside the house, he went to where Marina had directed and got the things she mentioned and then sped back. "Here it is, Bella," he said, handing the things to the girl.
