The love spell brought out the beast in him, part of him almost didn't care what happened to her as he was fixated on Rodney now. This was an entirely different sort of lust, the wanting was unbearable, wanting to tear his head from his shoulders. Connor swallowed hard, trying to hold back the flood as he looked between the two of them now, arriving by Merry's side. Looking down at her as she explained, he seemed as if he was giving her the thousand yard stare. He was looking through her, not at her, as if nothing she was saying was actually registering to him. Oddly enough, part of him felt amazing, like freeing this side of him had been described to be.
"It doesn't take a genius to have figured it out, either." he snapped back at Merry, though the voice didn't feel like his. It was angry, as if he was going to hurt her as well by the end of the night. What was wrong with him? This definitely wasn't normal, whatever magic took hold of him was confusing his emotions so badly he was becoming a danger to everyone. "Regardless, things have taken a turn for the worse. All because you invited him. The night would have gone on fine otherwise." Connor said, shoving his hands into his pockets as he turned away from the two of them. Just as he did so, his eyes become a pair of deep black voids, his kill face as he loved to refer to it.
Instead of offering her comforting words, he offered her what he thought was truth. "We're all terrible people, it just takes the right moment to reveal that to us. Can you honestly tell me that part of you didn't think you could have it all?" he asked, quite a spiteful question. However Connor was seeing the darker nature of everyone lately, no matter who you were there was a bad side to you just like everyone else. Why wouldn't it make sense? Rich girl, she was probably used to having whatever she wanted, so why not two idiots fighting over the same scrap?
Whirling around, Connor stared at them long and hard. "Something is going on here. I get the feeling that neither of us would normally say such terrible things. At least.. I wouldn't say such things to her." Connor said, shaking his head. He was trying to remember if he had consumed anything other than the blood earlier, maybe someone had injected him with something in the crowd? "Whatever the case, we look like a bunch of crazy people out here in the parking lot still. We should move on." he said, lifting Merry into his arms as he turned towards her car.
"Maybe eating out together should just wait, unless you two want to go on ahead." he said, in his mind the idea of him killing the entire resturant was bouncing around. He was needlessly enraged, he couldn't figure out why or control it at all. "We've all had a hand in making this a terrible night." he said, before stopping to look off into the distance, he thought he had heard something.

Merry felt both men reach her and words flew about fast and furious, she barely had any time to get a word in edgewise with what they were yelling at each other. And then Connor struck verbally to the core and she felt herself go numb. Her skin went white and she had to fight to keep from just bursting into tears, "You're right we all made mistakes, Connor and I'm sorry for putting either of you in this position. I ask your forgiveness I was selfish and for that I'm sorry. You both deserve better." she felt him scoop her up and tears rolled down her face, "I should have seen what that meant and I was stupid."
She seemed to shrink in his arms as if all the layers of confidence she'd built were just thin sheets of paper easily torn. She couldn't look at anyone right now without totally losing it. "We should postpone it. I ruined things for everyone. I understand if you both hate me and never want to see me again. If someone can get me to my car I'll drive home." the words were whispered. Loud enough for Rodney to hear but soft enough so her voice didn't crack and she didn't start bawling like an infant. She closed her eyes and tried hard not to just give into the hurt and cry. It was a loosing battle though. Her heart felt torn into bits. Her small form started shaking and she sobbed silently and refused to meet either's gaze. Sorrow rolled off her like a waterfall, she'd never helped Connor and had just hurt him and now with his words she didn't even know if her motives were good any more for anything.
