causing problems makes you famous allthis VIOLENCE makesastatement - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It was a bright day, typical for a Southern California Summer. Jyo wondered if it would be any cooler if he moved to San Fransico. He shuddered. The last time he had been there, he’d found this girl, dated her, then found out she was nuts when it was time for him to come home. He reached around the back of his head where she’d pinged him with her mother’s metal vase. There was still muscle memory pain where he’d been hit. No Northern California would be out of the question for a few more years…
Jyo leaned against the building he was next to. It was in Black Rose’s territory, and someone had to work near it… Business like this, it made Jyo’s stomach curl. His mother worked for a company like this. His mother did much harder work then the CEO, and she got paid bumpkins for it. Jyo looked up towards the top of the building. But the guy, and it was almost certainly a guy, up there only had to sign certain papers and got paid trillions. And what if he ran the business to the ground? Well then he got hired on by a new business for him to run them into the ground, while his family had to live off the income that Jyo brought in.
He scoffed and leaned against the building. In his mind, Black Rose was a much better form of business. You had one job for life. You could change that job if you wanted, do something different, but you still had to put in work, you still had to pay your taxes and in the end, you were taken care of. Your family got the food they needed and the roof over your head, and the gang got the work they needed. Sometimes they even sent you to college for degrees like medicine and education, so you could come back and work their streets, make the community better… Even while they were destroying it by selling crack cocaine, methamphetamines, marijuana, heroine, and illegal fire arms to people on the street.
“Maybe I should follow my brother to med school?” he wondered out loud. UCLA wasn’t far neither was UCSD… He could go to one, then come back for the other and be done rather quickly… He sighed, first he had to put his brother through med school. Thank heavens they got one more year left. Then his brother could go and work and Jyo could go to med school himself. Jyo smiled. Him in med school? What would he study? He was taken from his thoughts by someone standing a little to close. “Am I in trouble?” he asked defensivly, his eyes still closed in thought.

Mari carried her bag of kick-knacks carefully. She was cleaning out anything that her dad might use as a way to contact her. That meant that she had a purse full of breakable objects and was walking carefully. As she heard the guy standing by the door speak she tilted her head. Realizing he was muttering to himself she smirked, "Well I'm not gonna narq on ya for hanging outside>" she admitted with a chuckle. "As for getting a med degree that's up to you. You look like a dude that can handle himself in any situation."
She stood there, her hand clutching her purse casually, her jeans and purple silk shirt marking her as very upper class for all that she carried herself with a casual air. She cocked her head to the side and regarded Jyo a moment. "If you wanna get into UCLA I can get you an application. We have them at the UCLA library." she winked, "I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't promote where I work." she said as she grinned and looked at her University Library ID. My name's Marina Sinclaire. This is my dad's building but I don't mind if you chill here."
Hell he was easy on the eye, but then she thought men looked hot when they had it together and this guy definitely had it together. Her smile was wide and non flirtatious as she held out her hand to shake. The other held onto her purse so the weight wouldn't destabilize her. Her foot was cramping like a bitch and she shifted to get some weight off of it. Gently she leaned against the pillar of the building, "Though to be fair they might kick our asses for loitering so if they do I'll just tell em you're helping me if that's cool with you?" she said the last with a shit eating grin and wink.

causing problems makes you famous allthis VIOLENCE makesastatement - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Jyo nearly jumped out of his skin. She scared the bloody hell out of him. He hadn’t been expecting a woman’s voice. He started and stood up straight and looked at the woman in front of him. “Had I said that outside?” he muttered sheepishly. “Sorry ma’am, I don’t mean to be in your way,” he started to shuffle out of her way.
He raised his eyebrows. “Yea and $15,000 a year for four years later I’ll be so far in debt I won’t be able to afford Med School.” He smirked his lips at her. “Thank you Ms. Sinclaire. I’m glad that you don’t mind. I’ll let the guards know when they decide I’ve been loitering to long here.” He leaned forward with his hand outstretched. “Jyo Kido. My pleasure.”
He laughed at her joke, then noticed she was gingerly holding her bag. She was in his territory, he looked around. She wasn’t Black Rose, but it didn’t mean he couldn’t watch out for her. She was an innocent awfully close to gang lines, at the very least he’d get points for killing someone. “Wow, I’m an idiot. Do you actually need a hand with that?” he asked her and held his hand out to take her bag from her.

Mari held her hands up in the universal surrender sign, "Woah, dude. You're not in my way at all. I just thought you were talking to me." she admitted, "And I was being a smart ass but hey everyone needs a laugh ya know?" she stood to the side and nodded to his comment about Med school, "Yeah, med school kinda costs an arm and a leg. If my dad hadn't paid for my Masters I'd be so screwed right now so I totally feel ya. Only thing he ever did right was let me go to school." she muttered as she looked back at him and pushed up her glasses and offered her hand, "Pleased to meet you, Jyo. Nice to meet someone friendly near this place."
"I'd love help with it. I was taking my stuff out of my dad's office that's next door. He buys me all this useless expensive stuff to make up for the fact that his parenting skills suck. You wouldn't happen to know a good will here that will take this stuff off my hands? I really HATE carrying breakable stuff. It just ends up in powdered bits when I trip and fall. If we can find some place to sit down I can let you have the stuff. If I see another glass unicorn I swear I'm gonna go psychotic." she chuckled as she looked at him and gestured with her neck, "Come on, if you help me out there's a Mc Donalds down the street. My treat. I've been jonesing for some fries all day."

causing problems makes you famous allthis VIOLENCE makesastatement - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Jyo smiled at her, his best way of smoothing something over with a girl. “Sorry. I just saw something block the light a bit through the old eyelids and thought that someone was here to bust me for loitering again.” He chuckled pleasantly at her returning to his place for the moment. “Yea, life’s way to much of a downer.”
He chuckled again and shook his head. “If only my dead-beat dad were that impressive. Trade ya?” he offered with a shit-eating grin. “It’s nice to meet you.” He laughed at himself then voiced his thoughts, “Oh what do you mean? Don’t you just love the security gaurds? They have such wonderful senses of humor, and they just know all the best police too. Really great guys them.” He nodded his head back at the building and coughed. Ah the glory of sarcasm.
Taking the bag Jyo looked at it and back up at her. “Expensive glass unicorns?” He asked appalled. “What are they AI? Only reason I’d buy something like that for my daughter.” Not that I’d ever have one. Every father in my family’s been a dead beat… Not continuing that pattern, he thought to himself. He was completely unaware of what Marina was capable of. “Well I guess we can’t have expensive metaphors for stallions running turned into dust… Hm… Good Wills though?” He thought about it. The only one he knew of was the one Karen worked at… “Over on 108th street… Don’t think that’s to close… I don’t know of any others though… Sorry.”
“Oh uh, sure.” McDonalds? He hadn’t been to one of those in ages… Cheap hamburgers were nearly as bad as Asian food… Everyone assumed that because he was on the streets from sun up to sun down all he ever ate was fast food. But he could eat it at least. Lobbing the bag onto his shoulder Jyo fell into step next to Marina. Absent mindedly he offered her his arm to hold onto so that people wouldn’t bump her over as they rushed into and out of the tall building at his back.

"Totally understandable. I know that I get bugged all the time when I type with my eyes closed just because it looks weird but sometimes its the best way to think about what you want."
"I bet you my dad wins the worst dad of the year awards. Yours probably didn't bring half the cheerleading squad over to play in his jaccusi. Mine did and got away with it. And that's totally tame for the stuff he's done." she shook her head, "Oh come on man you gotta love the keystone cops. Those guys are the best," Yup Sarcasm engaged. 'You're dad doesn't try to get in your pants dude. All the money in the world doesn't make up for that sort of crap.' she thought to herself soberly.
"AI? She asked in confusion. "Dude, my dad buys them in the hopes I'll forget about the broken ribs, split lip and black eyes. He thinks its the perfect I'm sorry gift. If the damn things were artificially intelligent I'd have them take him out in his sleep." She muttered quietly as she sighed, "Don't mind me. I'm getting myself a new place to live. Dad threw me off a balcony one too many times and now he's got the cops after him. I am gonna room with a friend whose got more muscles than god."
She blinked, "Ohhh you think...nah I've got a body guard I think of when I'm in that mood. Not that its any more than thinking but yeah its like that." She ran a hand over the back of her head. "Well crap. Ahh well. I'll find something to do. Maybe I'll get Rodney to let me play golf with em or something. I'll pretend they're my dad and get some use out of the damn things."
"On second thought Olive Garden is probably a better bet." she said as she picked up on his dislike of the place and took his arm. "I think their food is pretty good for just chillaxing."

causing problems makes you famous allthis VIOLENCE makesastatement - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Jyo nodded at Mari. “Yea I think you got me bested by just a bit…” He smirked with his lips, but his eyes became dark as he thought. “But mine’ll get honorable mention for worst of the decade. He was too drunk to even be bothered to get out of bed while his youngest son lay dying in the hospital nor for the funeral.”
He chuckled. “Well at least we understand each other there. And your Dad’s got the money for it.” He rubbed the back of his neck where he still had muscle memory of the beating he’d gotten when his father found out that Jared was dead… The beating had been meant for their mother, but Jyo had gotten in the way. And promptly knocked his father out for the night when he stopped for another drink. “I’m glad for ya. I had planned on moving in with my best friend… But life caught up with him.” There was a lack of sarcasm in his voice as he said it. Like it wasn’t serious, but not happy at first either.
“I think what?” he asked her with an eyebrow raised. He was actually smirking this time. “In the mood for what? I wasn’t thinking about anything. He just smiled at her in a friendly teasing sort of way as he watched her. He just cleared his throat as it seemed that she was picking up on something that Jyo had thought. “I’m following you Marina. Where ever you want to go. If you want fries we can get them. If you want bread sticks… Well we can get those too.” He glanced down at her from the corner of his eye. She sure didn’t look abused…

She nodded and brushed her hair out of her eyes, "Well at least we can relate to one another. I'm sorry about your family. I only have my dad now. Mom died when I was six and my brothers have been dead for a while." she turned and looked about. Her blonde hair sparkling in the light as she adjusted her hoodie a bit, some bruising on her neck showing before she straightened her hair to cover it.
"I only have a few friends but when I get settled you can come hang out if you want to. I mean I'm a dork but I do know how to cook so if you get hungry you can always stop by." she said as they shifted gears and moved to where the olive garden was. She rather liked the idea of walking somewhere. When he teased her about her babbling she laughed and crossed her eyes, "Don't mind me. I get a little scatter brained sometimes. So much going on in my life its a lot to keep track of."
"Bread sticks it is then. Probably better if I eat a salad anyway." she continued to walk down the street with him. Her uneven shuffle leading the way as she moved. She checked the gps on her phone as she looked at the streets and numbers, "It say its just around the corner here." she said as she gestured with her hand.
