Laying face down on his bed, he had about five different books open over it. All supernatural books, as oddly enough, supernatural books would be the only ones he actually took the time to read, which was even more bizarre because weeks ago, even just the thought of reading up on supernatural books would make him cringe. But a lot had changed, he had changed in many ways. Whether you could call it adapting to this new world of chaos and violence, or just him changing as a person altogether, that was a question in itself. But he in a million years, would never have seen himself gaging in supernatural books, whether out of simple interest or more than that.
For him right now, it was more than that. He had seen the increase in supernatural activity recently, and wanted to know what it was all about. It didn't make much sense, but he had a feeling it had something to do with the portal that was opened with Everette and Jacinta's blood, caused by Selena. The even more funny thing was, that a lot of the increase in activity was in the area where the portal was opened to this world. He had only been in the supernatural world for so long, but he realized that something was stirring. If his senses weren't enough, the horrid things he had seen in the media, faces ripped off, bodies bloody and ripped to shreds, it was disgusting, yet for some reason he remained unphased as he stared at the horrific pictures. He didn't have that part of him which would usually throw up in the site of such gory images. Maybe it was all the deaths he had experienced, or maybe it was just this whole supernatural ordeal recently with Selena when he realized there was no escaping for him, he just has to embrace destiny.
He sat on the bed, scribbling random things onto the sketchbook in front of him. Different types of demons who could cause some damage to humans, increases in vampire activity, portals, anything which could help him make any sense of the situation at hand. Although he had all of these things, nothing could make any sense. He was glad Rodney was out, however he wasn't sure when he would be home. And he assumed that having multiple books about supernatural and scribbles about strange things on his sketchbook wouldn't look too good and would be difficult to explain.

It took every fibre of his being to get to that door. What could he say? Who could he turn to? Not Aylen, not Ariel, not Jace, not Claire. The situation needed a brother, which was worrying. The last time he was with a brother was last night, and he had tried to kill Xzavier. He felt horrible, evil almost. A darkness took over inside him that he couldn't control. He had no sway over it, he just hoped that being here wasn't a mistake. He hoped that Axel would understand how he felt. He was just angry, all the time. He was angry at himself. He was angry at Xzavier. He was just angry with his life. He had called in sick because he couldn't stand it today. His life was being tilted down down the drain bit by bit, and he didn't want that. But he could not stop what he felt. It was misunderstanding and anger, fear and worry about what he was becoming. He didn't want himself to be dark. He just wanted to be himself again before Selena, before the conflicts of the circle; before Axel.
Knocking on the door, he waited. He had better be home, which was odd because he had pondered if Axel should move in with them. Xzavier and Ev, under the family roof in the house of dirty ash trays and floor-drobs. He hadn't spoken to Xzavier about it. He didn't know if Xzavier wanted to talk to him ever again. He needed to get him emotions in check, build back up the walls of control before he broke. He didn't want that. He wanted to finish college, become a hard hitting reporter and live life to the fullest. He didn't want that to slip away just yet. ''Axel, it's me''. Was it him? Ev was the sensitive charmer with a fetish for doing his hair every time he went out. He wasn't a killer. He didn't hurt people, but when his morals broke he guessed that he fell as well. He was turning into what he hated - evil. His eyes were red from not sleeping. His hair - not so great. He still wore the clothes from last night and he really needed to talk to someone.
He would be lying though if he said he wasn't worried about Axel. It had only been a few months that he had been in their lives and been in the hunter bizz. He worried because he had seen it be addictive before. He has seen their cousins, filled with hatred by condemning their lives to just killing vampires. They got their rocks off by killing, and he didn't want to see it happen to Axel. He still had so much more to learn, and an early downfall for his little brother; Ev didn't know if he could deal with that right now. He needed a family, he needed to belong. He needed love. He had blocked out so much because he was focused on the future. But he wanted those things. Someone to love, maybe someone to spend the rest of his life with. He needed - something in his life to keep it balanced. But just one step at a time.

As he heard the knocks of the door, his eyes shot up towards the door, startled briefly, wondering who it was that was knocking. He first assumed it was Rodney, but then realized that Rodney would just open the door and walk in. Who else could it be? It wasn't like he was expecting any visitors or anything; hell, he couldn't remember the last time he had a visitor, apart from when Eli went all vamp on him. And after that unexpected visit, he wasn't too inclined to enjoy opening the door so swiftly anymore. But...It was daylight, so the odds of being mauled by a deranged vampire were pretty slim to none. But he always expected the unexpected in this city these days.
He heard a voice, it was Everette's, which made the situation rather strange. The tone in Ev's voice suggested something was up, usually meaning something supernatural-related. Maybe he had some answers for Axel, or something, which would explain all of these recent happenings? It would definantly beat reading these books. As interesting as the attention to detail this book was, he would be more than thrilled to have Everette just give him the answers and stop this mind meltdown from continuing. He wasn't the reading type; gory pictures were cool and all, but they weren't exactly getting him anywhere in regards to finding out why the sudden surge in supernatural activity was occuring. It seemed obvious that it was as a result of the portal opening, but he didn't understand why it was still happening; they closed it, done deal. The end. At least thats what he thought.
He jogged to the door, opening it as he looked at Everette. He looked terrible; he could judge by the man's face that something was worrying him. And he looked like he had been in some kind of a fight. He stood back, allowing Everette the chance to come through. "Ev! Long time no see....But judging from how shit you look, I'm guessing something serious is up?" He stared at the man curiously as he awaited a response. He hadn't really seen Everette since everything went down, so seeing him now was strange, yet a relief. He had been so hung up in everything lately he hadn't really spoken with either of his brothers. He was a terrible brother! It wasn't like he was used to the whole brother thing, he had been without them for only nineteen years.

The door opened, and it was Axel. At first when he saw it, he saw one of the faces. A scraggy beard, the dirty skin and a hat planted shabbily on his head. A smoke in his mouth, a clouded expression on his face and all. Ev looked at him, and remembered that face. He had killed him only hours ago. But when he blinked, he saw that it was Axel. Just his little brother. Looking at him as he seemed kind of chipper, he looked at him. Eighteen and seemed to be having a better life then he did at the moment. Ev looked at him, and looked down. His head was pounding with troubled thoughts and more then anything, he wanted to reply. Maybe make it that things weren't completely fucked up at the moment. Sadly that wasn't the case. Ev was anything from okay at the moment, but as he looked at Axel he walked inside without a word. He didn't know what to say, but as he entered the room, he didn't take time to look around or anything. He just turned back to his brother, and looked down with red eyes as he tried to make eye contact. He was a wreck, outside as well as in, and he couldn't deal with it anymore.
''I know - - things have been hard. We haven't really been here for you, when you really need it most. We haven't taught you about what's out there, or even what mom's favourite colour was. I haven't been a brother''. His lips trembled as he tried not to cry, and he looked finally up into Axel's eyes. He needed him. Xzavier helped bring this side out of him, this side of out-of-control magic where he doesn't know what is real anymore. He just felt completely empty, and what in him that wasn't empty was full of confusion. He could barely think straight right now, and tears welled up as he looked at him. ''But - I could really use a brother right now''. The walls broke. Ev spluttered into tears as his head fell down, his hands catching his face. He sobbed as he sat on the edge of Axel's bed, tears falling onto his hands as he shook in rapid sobs. ''I'm so sorry Axel''.

He looked at Everette for a moment, noticing a slight moment of confusion or daze on Everette's face. He watched as Everette walked inside, without saying a word or barely showing any emotion at all. Something was up; he hadn't seen Everette like this, ever. Though, thats usually what happens when you only have a brother for a month or so. He really didn't know much about Everette. About Xzavier, but he wanted to. It was just going to take time, he supposed. It was still weird, having brothers and all. A part of him wanted to just go on like they didn't exist, but another part of him realized that they were the only family he had left; the only family that hadn't been slaughtered by the thing he was chosen to fight.
Everette finally spoke, and his words were extremely meaningful, and relevant to the struggles Axel was indeed facing right now. Axel didn't feel like he had brothers, not just because they hadn't really been there for eachother lately, but because he really didn't know what it felt like to have brothers. They weren't really friends, Everette and Xzavier rescued him and then he was thrown into this world of the supernatural. Then Selena and Ariel begun busting their balls, and soon after end-of-the-world like chaos was engulfing them whole. It wasn't Everette's fault they hadn't been there, but it was obvious this man was feeling guilt for it. A part of him wanted to blame Everette and Xzavier for pulling him into this world, for not preparing him properly. Axel was full of vengence in many ways, and went out there teaching himself, surviving.
Then he was in awe; Everette begun tearing up, and before long, he was sitting on the end of his bed, crying his eyes out. Axel's mouth opened, he didn't expect this side to Everette. He gathered Everette was the more sensitive type, however he seemed full of control, and the more focused in comparison to Xzavier. But seeing him like this, he just hadn't expected it. "Uh..." He muttered softly, not sure what to do. Consoling people when they were upset wasn't really something he was good at. Was now the time to start some of that brotherly bonding? He walked up to Everette slowly, sitting down beside him and slowly putting his arm behind the other man's shoulder, tapping him gently on the opposite shoulder. "Ev-What's wrong? Why couldn't you go to Xzavier?" Those two were close, so he was confused as to why Ev said he needed a brother when he had Xzavier, yet he decided to come to him instead. Something serious was up for Everette to be acting this way.
