Mike parked his car and headed for the entrance for the Los Angeles Police Department. Man, I haven't been this nervous since I was a rookie, he thought to himself. But then again, to this department, he was a rookie. These guys had all worked alongside each other for years and trusted each other to have their backs. He'd have to work to earn their trust. His eyes clouded as he walked into the establishment and then headed for the desk clerk. "Hey, I'm the new transfer. Can you tell me where the Captain's office is?" he asked.

Daryl had been at the Los Angeles Police Department for quite a few hours today because since his meeting with Shannelle and the worst case scenario of her responding to him, the only two or three things he did a day was keep an eye out in his free time for if everything was okay with Shannelle, and the rest of the time he spent at work, trying to get his mind off of it as much as possible or back at home, being somewhat more frustrated against his pack since that same day.
He just finished some paperwork that was lying on his desk before he got up, grabbed his mug and walked with it toward the coffee machine, luckily not too far away from his desk, that was the only good point for not having gotten his office yet for some lame excuse. He was a detective, and with the growing load of cases that he was getting he would expect that sooner or later he would hopefully get one.
On his way his attention was caught at the desk and a guy there that said he was a new transfer and if the desk clerk could tell him where to find the Captain's office. He smiled as his mind only thought for a moment if it was actually smart to get into this conversation already, but if this guy was coming to work here, there was no harm in trying to get a sense of how this guy was right?
He stopped in his tracks, turned around toward the desk and stepped closer, giving a smile to the desk clerk and then at the new guy. 'New guy huh? Rank?' He asked curiously while tilting his head slightly to the side with his empty mug still in his hands. 'The Captain's office isn't too hard to find, but if you want help I can show you? So Carl here can take some of those phone calls.' Daryl said smirking somewhat teasing at the desk clerk but he could obviously take it so he looked back at the new guy again.

"New guy, huh?" a voice asked. Mike turned to see a man with chestnut brown hair. Huh Mike thought, glancing at the man. He was kind of attractive, but didn't really look like his type. Besides, after his last relationship, he had sworn off dating---women and men. "Rank?" the other man asked in a curious voice. "Made detective before my transfer," Mike answered. "The Captain's Office isn't too hard to find, but if you want help I can show you? So Carl here can take some of these phone calls," the man offered, teasing the desk clerk a bit. Mike shook his head. It's just like my old squad, he thought to himself. "I don't wanna take you away from whatever you're doing, so if you could just point me in the general direction? he requested.

Daryl kept having this curious but friendly smile on his face as he was always glad to see if they had some friendly new guy, or one of those extremely cocky ones for instance. When he heard his answer about his rank and that he was just made detective before his transfer, he nodded as it was good news to hear, in his opinion they could use some help, but as long as he wouldn't get too nosy into some specific things, he would just have to see.
Daryl couldn't help but raise his eyebrows for a moment when he heard the guy his request he looked around for a moment before looking back at him again and shrugging. 'Oh don't worry about that, I just finished most of my paperwork anyway, I've been here for a few hours.' He said calmly with a laugh. 'I'm Daryl, detective too, so we'll probably run into each other.' He said friendly, but also thinking of the benefit of easier keeping a cautious eye out just in case. 'But it's this way, you can't really miss it.' He then said, stepping back from the desk again, giving him a look and then passed him in the direction of the Captain's office, then it was up to him if he would follow him or not.

"Oh, don't worry about that, I just finished most of my paperwork anyway. I've been here for a few hours," the man replied. "Well, if you're sure it's not an imposition," Mike accepted. "I'm Daryl, detective too, so we'll probably run into each other," the man continued. "I'm Mike. Good to meet ya, man," Mike responded. "But it's this way, you can't really miss it," Daryl said, walking off. Mike quickly followed him, his mind racing. There was something about Daryl that intrigued him. Not that he was attracted to him, though the man was good-looking. There was just something...unique about him...he could sense it. But what?

Daryl couldn't help but laugh somewhat amused when Mike accepted but still said that it was only okay if Daryl was sure it really wasn't an imposition. 'Like I said, don't worry, some days it's a good thing being a detective, if you're quick enough with your paperwork so you have nothing to do.' He told him again reassuringly with a smile and calm shrug with his shoulders. He meant it, it mostly counted for himself too, even though like now there were moments he'd rather have enough to do to get his mind of things, or certain people...
'Well welcome Mike, I hope you know what you're doing coming here to LA.' Daryl said as he gave Mike a teasing smirk for a moment as he kept walking in front of him when Mike started following him toward the Captain's office. 'So there's the coffee machine, but my advise is to only use it if you really have to, otherwise go get it somewhere else, I think it tastes like crap.' He told honestly as he laughed somewhat again and pointed at it.
Then after a few more steps he finally stopped in front of a door and pointed over his shoulder with his thumb at it. 'And here we are, don't let yourself be intimidated by the Captain, a lot do and that's kind of the test for newbies.' He told him and then nodded with a smile. 'Good luck I guess?' He said, stepping a few steps away and looking at him if he was going in and Daryl would have to go do something else, or if he had any questions or something.

Mike listened as Daryl showed him around, pointing out the coffee pot and then advising against drinking the coffee unless he absolutely had to. "Yeah, I know what you mean. The coffee in my last precinct was pretty bad. The guy in charge of it was great, we all liked him, but it wasn't his forte. One time he actually burned it. We're still not sure how that happened," he told him. Besides, he only drank stuff that he could put holy water and wolfesbane in, a habit he had had since he was a kid. It had actually been Jesse's idea, and had been done out of a desire to protect him. With the stuff in his system, he had protection against compulsion and being turned. He then continued until they reached a door, which Daryl said led to the captain's offce. Mike chuckled at Daryl's comment about not letting the captain intimidating him. "Yeah, well, I don't scare that easily," he assured. "Thanks, man. Much appreciated." He then opened the door and walked into the captain's office, shutting the door behind him.
OOC And I believe this wraps the thread up. I mentioned wolfesbane as a werewolf deterrent because it's the only thing I know, but if that's not used on the site, let me know and I'll take it out.
