Boots and sand didn't go well. Trotting across the dunes came Paiten, hair bouncing with every step. She was trying to get a view of the docks without - well - being on the docks. It was darker now, and the lights from the docking warehouses were on but she couldn't see anything. This is what happens when cops get too 'coppy', it drives defensless blondes into the line of fire with badness. Moving forwards slowly, she saw steps leading up to the docking bay. She wasn't excited about this. It seemed with every step she could sense more and more people there. The dead sailor's ghosts drifting in the water didn't even catch her sight in which FYI, seeing ghosts still isn't a casual thing for Paiten. It still creeped her out.
Now should she call Cooper? Like, he could help at least. The only thing she would be able to do is waltz into the compound, smile and try to persuade the nice kidnappers to put the guns down. That was her plan. She could sense the boy in there, recieving thoughts of fear and innocence going into her mind. She was worried as she finally got to solid ground and trotted to the wall of the warehouse. "Oh boy, Oh boy, Oh boy. This is so shit". Worriedly, she peeped her eyes over to look through the window. She could see inside. Shot guns, machine guns, baseball bats; it was a party. She could sense the boy in the back of a truck along with a few other kids as she used her minds eye to look inside the truck. She had to do something fast.
"..... kids, don't worry. I'll get youse out of this". Hopefully. She sent the message to the kids as she looked around through the window. How many freakin' guns do they want? It was like a mini war-zone in there, but she couldn't just do nothing. She had to think though. If only she could get mad. Once, she got extremely pissed when her parents first got divorced and she smashed a chair across the room. She didn't think it was her at first, but maybe she was tele - tel - she can't say it, but maybe she can move things with her mind. This was a time to test, but for now how about she sleepy emotions. "Night night". Smiling, she then closed her eyes as breathed. She transmitted and overload of lazy, drowsy and unmotivated emotions into his mind, and soon enough the gun dropped to the ground and he was out like a light. Smiling, she ducked behind the wall as others went to the man's aid. Things were finally looking up until she felt the cold touch of a gun barrel against her neck. Crap!

Why had this blonde girl made such an impression on him? Was it because she was extremely gorgeous, because she did present a good case, or a combination of the two? He had been studying the information she had given him at home that night, trying to find some ways to help out the girl, if indeed this was genuine. Everything did seem to fall under suspicions of some third party activity taking place, involving kidnappings as this woman had suggested. He had used the information she had given him to look up any recent kidnappings or disappearences of children, and did find some rather telling information in regards to it, especially considering that the disappearences had occured within the area.
He had checked any ships boarding within the next day or so, not even bothering to check later than that as these people would've been smart and cunning; looking for the fastest escape from Los Angeles on the ship, therefore he would only have to look for recent ones. But the problem was, they could've already boarded on the ship and then what? It definantly became a complicated situation then, as he would have to contact sea marshalls, inform other police departments all over the information given to him by a woman, who he was still highly suspicious of. Things just didn't add up with her, hopefully by finding out some answers to this case, he would find out more about her. Maybe.
He had informed his department that he was looking into the case, though it looked like he would be doing this all on his own, like usual. Guess that was the drawbacks of being a detective, he thought. He headed to the docks, parking his car near the beach to draw away suspicions, and dressed in sunglasses, jeans and a black shirt. Nearing closer, he found the docks, noticing that there was a ship right near the docks, leading him to believe that someone was boarding. The suspicious thing was, ships never boarded this late in the evening, making him believe that the girl might have been right, and this ship might be the one he was after. Drawing closer, he noticed a warehouse which could have some answers. Getting closer, he peered through one of the back windows, noticing people in there. He saw one of them fall down, and the others begun checking on him? What the?
Then he heard the sound of a gun loading, and drew his own gun as he leant against the wall, as he snuck around the side of the warehouse. And to his surprise, he saw the blonde girl who he had been doing the case for. What was she doing here? Was she trying to get herself killed by involving herself in a crime-scene? He then noticed one of the henchment with a gun at her head. At least he knew this was legit, unless it was some kind of set up, or something. He pointed his gun, sighing as he realized he couldn't just shoot and alarm every single person in that warehouse, officially making them both screwed. He stepped closer, now in a job as he threw his gun down onto the ground in front of where the blonde girl was held hostage. The man glanced down at the gun, startled, as Daniel came from behind, sliding on the sand to the ground as he tackled the leg of the man, bringing the man to the ground. He got on top of him, punching him in the head quickly, which knocked the man out.
He got to his feet, picking up his gun as he looked at Paiten with a look of 'are you crazy?!', but motioned to her to 'shh' with his hands and a silent whisper as he peered through the window she was probably already looking through. He saw quite a few guards, and a lot of innocent kids, looking scared. This was awful. He would have to call in backup. He leant back against the wall, calling in backup on his pager, then turned back to Paiten. "What the hell are you doing here? Do you realize you are breaking the law by even involving yourself in this? Are you trying to get yourself killed, if breaking the law wasn't enough?" He sighed, looking back through the window. "Look, others will be on their way shortly, and I don't need you getting hurt in the crossfire. Why don't you just tell me how you even knew that something was going on here? And no more 'hypothetical' scenarios, too." He eyed her suspiciously as he awaited for an answer. Maybe she was an innocent wanting to help, but maybe there was something else going on. It just didn't add up.

''Don't move, Barbie''.
Damn! Paiten mouthed the words as she put her hands in the air innocently. She was more irritated then scared at this point. This wasn't the first time she was on deathrow. The gun was against her, and she stayed low. She wasn't going to speak because of the attention it might draw. Surprise guys - she's not that dumb. Telekinesis would also be fun right now. But she hasn't been able to properly master that one yet. Even a vision that things would be all okay would be good. ''Um - I think you -''. She was distracted by the sound of a gun hitting the ground near her. What the? It was seconds later that the guy was tackled. Paiten squealed as she was knocked out of the way, rolling onto the ground. In the featal position, she covered herself as the guys banged into the ground. Things can't just go smoothly can they? She then saw the pistol on the ground and reached for it as she pushed herself up, directing the gun at the two as the guy who attacked her was knocked unsconcious. And he was out cold by the cop we all know and are irritated by - Cooper.
''Great time to take initiative 'detective'''. Rolling her eyes, she then passed him the gun but then signalled for her to be quiet. Very close to him, they looked through the window. She scanned the kids and no - they weren't normal at all. The kid she saw could project blades from his arms. Another was a fairy, and another was a Phoenix Warrior. It was an interesting truck-load of kids. Looking around, all she knew was that she could put people to sleep. Whoopie! Call her the conscious whisperer. She went to do it again when Cooper turned sexily assertive towards her. A bunch of questions that she didn't know if she could answer them. Looking around, she sighed as she turned to him, not making any eye-contact.
''Cooper, I-''. She couldn't answer. She didn't want to open that can of worms again. Being called a freak and a loser, being alienated completely. But right now, she couldn't lie. Just before he finished, she cut in. She has already broken the law's rules, why not her own. ''Look! I'm psychic, okay. I hear thoughts, I control minds, I see the dead and occassionally throw things about with my thoughts. Okay, you happy now. Nothing hypothetical, nothing made up, it's the truth-''. She then caught the thoughts of the guys inside. Yeah, they knew they were there now. ''-and now the crazy psychos inside now know we are here. Shit..''.

He glanced away at her comment, instead deciding to focus on trying not to get himself or this girl killed, by working out how they were going to rescue those kids, as well. This could be a difficult situation. Although time was 'always pressing,' he knew that barging right in there as some kind of hero wasn't going to achieve any beneficial results, and would likely end him up in a hospital bed, or worse, killed. Not only that, but it could place some of these innocent children in the firing line, as well, which was something he would avoid at all costs. He knew back up was coming, but he didn't know how long they would actually be. What if something happened before then, which would result in him needing to take action? He really hoped it didn't come to that though, as there were a lot of guards in there. And he doubted Paiten was skilled as a gun, not like he would trust her with one anyway.
He raised an eyebrew as the girl explained in a "non hypothetical" way, causing his eyes to widen also softly as he listened to his story. "Are you serious? I'm a cop, do you actually expect me to believe something like that? It made more sense when you were using hypothetical responses, not responses straight out of some fictional novel." As much as he would've loved to continue lecturing Paiten at this moment, she raised a good point, and something he was afraid of. Somehow, the guards had spotted them. "What are you talking about? They aren't even looking our way, there is no one coming?" He sighed softly, then noticed movement close to the window, and moved away. He could hear rumblings about missing a guard out the front and some of them going to look for him. Great job Daniel, now we're both screwed, he thought to himself as he glared at Paiten. "Look, its getting dangerous, why don't you just go and hide somewhere, and I'll handle this. I don't need you getting injured, or anything. You seem to be crazy enough as it is without making it any worse."
He shot foward, hiding behind the window. He looked back at Paiten to see if she was okay, before going foward. One of the guards moved foward, and Daniel waited behind the wall, anxiously. The guard soon approached, and Daniel punched him in the jaw, sending him to the floor, before disarming him and moving the body away. He looked back, noticing Paiten was there. "I thought I told you to-" Before he could finish, he felt a hard blow to the back of his head, and he was knocked out.

He was being so unreasonable. When someone trusts you with something like that, you don't mock them like that. Paiten wouldn't have liked to admit it, but it hurt. Why would she joke in such a serious situation? It was irrational of him, and obviously she had picked the most unreasonable person to place this on. At this point, she wasn't exactly sure why she did trust him with this if this was how he was going to treat the situation. She wasn't happy now, but she tried to reason with him. ''Look. I'm sorry if this - is not explainatory enough for you or anything but... Hey, why would I not be serious in such a situation. I'm a psychic, a freak, a mind-melding diva who helps people from time to time. There is nothing - fictional about that''. She looked at him puzzeled, looking at his expressions an attitude. Such a guy! Sighing, looked away from him. Looking at the ground, she finally looked back up to his eyes. Nice eyes, too bad they couldn't see passed what his logic could.
She could sense them. They could hear them and their attention was on them. In her mind she could see cocked guns bared, angered expressions and a territorial nature. It was pretty worrying, and she looked up at the warehouse as they came. When Cooper questioned it, it just showed how much he didn't trust her word now. It might be an out-there explaination but he didn't have to be a jackass. ''No, no. They're coming''. She bit her lip, looking as he warned her to leave, then called her crazy. A hand to the hip, looking at him with her jaw dropped she was pissed. He went all detective secret agent guy, knocking some dude out and pulling his body away. Did she leave or do what he demanded? No, maybe she was too craaaazzy to understand his request.
He looked to her, as if to get up her for not going. That didn't last long. Cooper was clubbed on the head and dropped like a bad habit, Paiten gasping with a hand to her mouth as it happened. The attacker looked to her with a vicious expression, and Paiten shat herself. Turning, she tried to run away. ''Oh, crap!''. Getting to a pile of crates next to some fish netting, she reached for a stray piece of wood. Good enough. But when she turned to him, he held a gun in his hand and it pointed at her. Paiten squealed like a two year old girl as she swung the wood, smashing the gun out of the guys hand. She smiled slightly at her accomplishment, but the frowned at him going at her. She squealed again, but was able to swing the wood back and wacked him across the face as he fell to the ground. She now felt like an adreneline junky, but she had now definitely broken a nail.
Trotting back where she came, she made her way towards Cooper, looking down at him. She couldn't see anyone around yet, which felt better. But she was worried about the judgemental prick on the ground. Looking down at him, she leaned over a bit on her high heels to see if he was okay. ''Cooper? Cooper?''. She whispered in a kind of a hiss. But then from behind, she was caught off guard. Two arms wrapped around her arms, holding her. Paiten freaked out, screaming as she tried to struggle out of his grips. ''Hey! Hey, get off me - you asshole''. Paiten tried to break his grip, gritting her teeth as she tried to fight him off. He held her and she couldn't get away. Then, full of rage, he had her completely. Trying to get him away was impossible, and the sight off a knife in his hand could be seen as he wrapped his arms around her chest. Her teeth was gritted, her head full of irrational rage, she had had enough. ''Let - me - GO!''. Paiten stomped her foot. Arms flew off from her body as the distant grunts of the guy occured from afar. Paiten fell to the ground from unbalanced stance, but she flicked her head around and saw the man across the dock, having been sent far back and into rubble. Telekinesis, it worked! She smiled slightly, but out of breath she turned her attention back to Cooper as she crawled over to him.
