Zach jumped up the concrete steps two at a time as quickly as possible. He couldn’t believe how late he was going to be. I mean, it was normal for him to be five, ten, maybe fifteen minutes late, but twenty? He might as well not even come to class. He already knew that he was going to have to be paired with someone other than his normal biology partner. If someone else didn’t come in late or there wasn’t an uneven amount of people, he’d most likely have to work on his own today. The instructor hated having a group of more than two. Zach threw open one side of the double doors leading into McKinnley Hall. Skidding down the hallways to room 1008, he stopped in front of the door. He stared at the door and caught his breath before twisting the door knob and walking in. Of course, every single person in the class would turn their attention from Professor Sawyer to him, which was completely fine. He loved being the center of attention, although judging by the look Sawyer had given him, it was probably best to rethink that.
Zach scanned the lab looking for an empty seat. Just when he thought he’d be working on the cat dissection alone today, he noticed a dark haired girl sitting at one of the lab tables with an empty seat next to her. He quickly walked around the back so he didn’t disrupt the class any more than he already had. He was probably already going to lose half the points for this lab because he was twenty minutes late. He didn’t want to irritate the professor anymore. Zach plopped down next to her dropping his book bag to the floor next to him. He glanced at her and gave her a big smile before looking back out at the instructor. He was extremely surprised that he hadn’t seen this girl before. She was hot.
Just as Sawyer ended his monotone instructions for the dissection, Zach turned to his lab partner for the day. “Hi, I’m Zach. You want to briefly explain the directions to me. Kinda slept in this morning on accident.” Even if he hadn’t slept in and he was on time, he would be asking his partner the exact same question. His ADHD always came into play in this class. He’d start listening to Sawyer, and then after about five minutes he’d zone out, and his mind would start racing. Hopefully this girl wouldn’t get to annoyed with that.

Shannelle had just about given up on doing anything useful today, as her lab-partner was either sick or just didn't want to be showing up. Either way, she was going to have her partner's head by the end of the day, for sure. When someone she vaguely recognized, but didn't know the name of, entered, she looked up, curious as to the events following soon. And when she saw the look mister Sawyer gave the guy, she couldn't help but smile and feel sorry for him at the same time, if that was even possible.
When the guy plopped down next to her, she quickly turned to face him and smiled back. ”Hi.” She greeted him, happy to be having a lab partner for the day and not to mention, an actual good-looking one. ”I'm Shannelle.” She said, as she glanced at the teacher, before looking back at the boy that introduced himself as 'Zach'. She smiled and pointed at the table, as she gave him a quick and fairly short explanation of what they had to do.

Zach followed along with her explanation. It seemed fairly simple. She had mentioned a few of the scalpel techniques Sawyer had gone over before he entered the class, but he probably wouldn’t follow them at all. He was never able to follow processes in any way possible. When he tried, things just got jumbled up in his head, and he would get frustrated with himself. So, he did what worked for him. And if that meant screwing up a few of these scalpel techniques, than he hoped she wouldn’t have an issue with that. “Okay, Shannelle, are you ready for this?” Zach asked as he shrugged off his jacket revealing a black t-shirt with the image of Bruce Cambell holding a shot gun above his head in one hand and a chainsaw being attached to his other. Three zombie faces surrounded him. It wasn’t unexpected to see Zach in a pop culture related shirt. And since Evil Dead was one of his favorite movies, there was no doubt he wouldn’t have a few of its shirts lying around.
Zach clapped his hands and rubbed them together as if to prepare him for something epic. “Here we go,” he said as he reached down picking up the scalpel lying alongside the tray. He sighed as he moved his hand holding the scalpel towards the cat’s ventral side. He glanced over at Shannelle. “Oh, did you want to start? I didn’t even ask you.” He was hoping she’d say yes. He really didn’t like dissecting things, and when it came to animals, he was a complete woosey. He’d rather just not touch them at all, hence the reason he chose the partner he did at the beginning of the semester. Because his partner was a freak and enjoyed cutting open poor defenseless animals that were extremely dead.
