Lily stretched out, loosening muscles tight from running most of the day after some idiot who thought, because she was a P.I., she couldn't arrest his idiot ass for trying out a B&E in the store she was in. She'd hit the pavement pretty hard when she'd had to tackle him, but boy was that satisfying. At the time, anyway. She'd called one of her cop friends, and soon there was a car there to take the fool to jail.
Now, she was stiff, sore, and grumpy.
She reached up, her shirt riding up just past her belly button to show off a good few inches of midriff while she stretched to loosen her arm and back muscles. She hurt in a lot of places, but the stretching was helping, and she'd take a good hot shower when she got home.
She turned towards the equipment on the other side of the dojo. Right then, she was the only one in there, and had no one to offer to spar with. So instead, she made due with the punching bag, taking her frustration of all the idiots she had to deal with out on the helpless, inanimate object.
"Stupid," She said with a punch. "Moronic." Another punch. "Fools!" She kicked the bag, and skipped backwards a few steps so it wouldn't come back to hit her. That would have been the last straw. She breathed heavily, having been at it for nearly thirty minutes. "Poor punching bag," She muttered, amused at herself. "I'm surprised you haven't just busted yet from all the frustrated people that have to come in here." She stretched out, hearing her back pop satisfyingly. "That's better..."
Lily heard the front door open, and though she was curious to see who was joining her, she didn't turn to look as she started her methodical abuse of the punching bag once more. Maybe whoever it was would offer to spar for a little while.

Xzavier parked his car in the parking lot of the dojo. He watched a little bit from the outside and he grinned. Wow. She's got a lot of fire he thought to himself with a small grin. Then he walked in and stood against the wall, still watching Lily. He watched as she continued to pummel the punching back. Wow. She's really going at it. She must've had a rough day he thought to himself. He had known her long enough to know that she only really attacked the punching bag when things were tough. Then, she stretched, and a little while later, she turned her attention back to the punching bag. "Hey, could you use a spotter?" he offered.

It took most of Lily's willpower not to stiffen when the person that had come in earlier spoke. That was not something she'd been expecting. Lily reached up and stopped the bag as it swung back at her before she turned around to face Xzavier. She didn't frown, but she didn't quite smile either. Why was he being so nice? The last time she'd seen him, both of them had been shouting at each other.
A lot...
"Yeah, I can always use a spotter," Lily said with a small smile as she leaned down into a stretch. She rose back up to glance at him from the corner of her eyes, and turned away before he would see the frown. "I didn't know you were coming in today. Here to work off some frustration too?" She questioned as she glanced over her shoulder, motioning him to hold the punching bag for her so she could pummel it some more. "Wanna hold this for me?" She asked. "Unless of course you want to spar instead."

He watched as the girl turned around. He saw the look of confusion on her face, not that he could blame her. Their last meeting had ended in a shouting match. "Yeah, I can always use a spotter," she answered with a small smile. "I didn't know you were coming in today. Here to work off some frustratin too?" she asked. "No, not really. I mean, I've got stuff on my mind, but nothing major," he replied. "Wanna hold this for me?" she asked. "Unless of course you want to spar instead." "From what I saw, with the way you're goin', if we sparred, you'd kick my butt," he responded. "I'll hold the bag," he told her.

Lily wasn't sure why, but Xzavier's relaxed manner was relaxing her some too. She wondered why he was acting like this. Surely he hadn't changed his mind so fast? She didn't know... She wanted to sigh, but held it back. Boy would this be a story to tell Gwen later...
"No, not really. I mean, I've got stuff on my mind, but nothing major," Xzavier said, and Lily managed a real smile for him, somehow.
"Hey, maybe punching the bag later will help," She said. "I'll hold it once you're done holding it for me."
She laughed at his next comment, surprising herself. "Was my frustration that obvious?" She asked, as she swung a kick at the bag to test his hold. It wasn't a full power kick, but if he wasn't holding on tightly enough it might have swung back enough to hit him in the face. She danced back a couple of steps, looking more amused than she really had any right to when around Xzavier. She hadn't felt like this around him since before the breakup. She didn't know how to take it, but the enormous weight she usually felt was lifting now, vanishing.
"You holding that thing tight enough?" She asked with a quick flash of a smile.

Xzavier watched as Lily became somewhat more relaxed. "Hey, maybe punching the bag later will help," she said. "I'll hold it once you're done holding it for me," she continued. "It's a deal," he agreed. After his comment, she laughed. "Was my frustration that obvious?" she asked, letting out a tentative kick. "Not to anyone who doesn't know you like I do," he responded. "You holding that thing tight enough?" she asked. "Yeah, I am. Don't worry about that. Just give it your all. I know you can do better than that," he responded.

Lily smiled faintly when Xzavier agreed to hold the punching bag, and said he was indeed holding it well.
"Not to anyone who doesn't know you like I do," was his response to her questioning him about her frustration being obvious. There was a faint pain in her heart, but she tried not to wince and show it. It was only a small one, but even that right now was going away. She wanted to ask him why he was being so kind, but she was afraid he'd stop. She missed this, she realized... After everything, she missed this the most.
She smiled at him, before she skipped forward fast with a hard kick to the center of the punching back. She spun around, punching it several times. "Some idiot thought I couldn't arrest him," She began to explain while she methodically beat the bag between them. "Apparently when declaring myself a PI and for him to stop, not even my gun held him in place," She said as she kicked the bag again, frustration drawing her brows together with her annoyance. "I really hate people like him..."

Lily let out a hard kick to the center of the punching bag. "Some idiot thought I couldn't arrest him," she began as she once more began beating the bag. "And they thought they could take you," he surmised. "Apparently when declaring myself a PI and for him to stop, not even my gun held him in place," she continued. Xzavier shook his head. "Heaven help the idiot who underestimates Lily Collins," he drawled. "I really hate people like him..." "I don't blame you," he said. Then, his eyes clouded. Could he tell Lily what was going on? Well, I can't just let her get killed, he thought to himself. "Listen Lil...there's some stuff goin' down---bad stuff. The best thing for you to do is to wrap up any active cases, and then get outta here," he told her.

Lily was enjoying the banter, the conversation between her and Xzavier. She smiled as she punched the bag a few more times, and kicked it solidly before she danced back, stretching to the ceiling again as she finished working her frustration off.
"Well that was fun. Thanks for spotting," She said with a smile for him. Her smile faded when his face suddenly looked grim, and her posture stiffened again. "You want me to run?" Her voice lost all expression, but her eyes fired. Don't be a girl and claw his face off, Lil. Just don't. As fun as that might be...
"Xzavier I'm not running. You know I won't so save your breath before I use you for a punching bag."

Xzavier watched as Lily stiffened. "You want me to run?" she asked emotionlessly. Xzavier winced internally. Almost as soon as he had said it, he had known it was the wrong thing to say. But what else could he do? He saw her eyes shooting daggers at him, and he knew that that it was by sheer willpower that she wasn't clawing his eyes out. "Yes. I want you to run," he replied. "Xzavier, I'm not running. You know I won't, so save your breath before I use you for a punching bag." Xzavier took a deep breath to get himself under control. It wouldn't do either of them any good if he started yelling at her like he had the last time. "How long have we known each other LilY? Normally I wouldn't even dream of asking you to get out of town. But, I'm asking you now. I don't know how much they know about me, but if it's as much as I think, then they know how much you mean to me and will kill you," he told her. And he couldn't let that happen. He wasn't even sure who the leader was, but he couldn't risk getting Lily killed. Not on account of him...he'd never forgive himself. "Lil...please...do this..." he murmured, his eyes shining with worry and pain.

Lily was angry, her shoulders tight, her eyes shining with repressed anger, but she let Xzavier talk. She was about to interrupt him though, when something he had said struck her speechless. She felt the fury dying, and confusion and worry replacing it. Her eyes softened, and she took a step toward him, then another. Soon, she had reached out, and grasped his hand.
I don't know how much they know about me, but if it's as much as I think, then they know how much you mean to me and will kill you." Despite the warning, the worry, the only thing she heard was "Then they know how much you mean to me."
"Xzavier I can't just run..." She whispered, squeezing his hand in case he tried to interrupt her. "Gwen just found out she's a witch. If I leave, she has to cope on her own. And she can't just leave now either, because her memories are starting to come back." Lily shook her head.
"I can't leave, Xzavier. I have too much at stake here, and no where to go otherwise. Even with Gwen, we don't have anywhere else to go." She tilted her head to look up at him, her eyes sad. She wanted to keep him from worrying, get that look out of his eyes. "I'll try to stay out of the way if I can." It was all she could promise, all she could do.

And she can't just leave now either, because her memories are starting to come back." Xzaiver let out a shaky breath. Lily had a point there. "I get that you can't leave her alone, and it's good that you want to be here for her," he admitted. This is what made me fall for her, he thought to himself. The fact that she was trying to do the right thing for a friend spoke volumes. She was better than he was. "I can't leave Xzavier. I have too much at stake here, and no where to go otherwise. Even with Gwen, we don't have anywhere else to go." "Okay. I won't ask you again," he agreed with a sigh. He had tried, and that's all that he could do. "I'll try to stay out of the way if I can." "Thank you. I don't like the ansewer, but I know that's the best you can give me," he responded. He leaned forward as if to kiss her, but pulled back. "Take care of yourself," he said gruffly and and headed out the door, where he got into the car and attempted to start the engine despite his shaky hands.

Lily watched him, saw in his eyes that he understood that she couldn't leave. She felt the last of her tension drain, and oddly felt worse than she thought she would. "Xzavier..." She whispered as he leaned in, but pulled away again.
"Take care of yourself." She pulled away from him, let him walk out. She watched him as he tried to start his car, and she sighed heavily as she ran her hands over her face and back into her hair. She lifted her head to the ceiling, as if looking for help. She turned back, looking out the window. She wanted to go out after him, but didn't know what she would say, so instead she just watched him. She could almost see his hands shaking from there. "I'm sorry," She whispered now that he couldn't hear her. "I really am sorry..."
