Kai was currently behind the bar of his beloved club. It was a local hangout for vampires and demons. It sat in the darker part of the city. Where humans normally didn't travel to. Of course it wasn't like there weren't any humans in the club but those were probably the ones with a death wish. The humans that would wonder into his bar were either meals or looking to be one. He didn't care either way. As long as they didn't make they didn't make a mess. He hated cleaning up after people.
Right now he was just serving drinks and conversing with people. The point was to have fun. If his customers didn't have fun then he hadn't done his job. That was bad for business.

Emery couldn't believe she was attempting to pick up a bartending job. She hadn't smashed anything but heads in six years, but what better way to learn about the Trinity Brothers than hang out in a demon bar everynight and serve alcohol....or whatever else those ugly ass demons liked to drink? Yes, she to was part demon, but at least she was pretty which was more than she could say for the demons she had offed in the past. She couldn't even believe she had come to this conclusion. Honestly, she had never had to stay in a city more than a few nights to get the job done. The Trinity Brothers were big news though, and she was bad ass but not that bad ass. How could this demon guy she worked for even ask her to go up against these guys? She thought she had done her job well in the past, but this seemed to be a suicide mission. Maybe he was just testing her to see how she took care of it.
Either way, it would have been nice to at least get a little money. Stealing was just to risky these days. So, last night when she came into town, she headed right over to one of the high class clubs and found herself a guy who seemed to be begging for attention. He looked wealthy enough for her. And sure enough, he asked her to come home with him, she did her business, killed him, and now resided in his home. Yep, it was that easy. And lucky her, he had a safe in the back with piles upon piles of money in it. She had no clue who he was and honestly she didn't care. She had somewhere to live for the next few weeks or months or however long it took her to kill the brothers, that's all that mattered.
Emery walked up the walkway leading to Bloodlust. She flashed the bouncer at the door a smile, and he pulled open the door for her. She didn't bother to thank him as she moved past him and entered the bar. A mixture of different perfumes filled her nostrils. She wasn't exactly sure if the smell was actually from its occupants or the owner decided to have fragrances spewing from the vents. Either way, she could definitely get used to this. She lifted herself up on her tippy toes to scan the bar. She really wasn’t even sure who she was looking for. She just needed to talk to someone in charge. When she spotted the bar, she figured that was the best place to start.
Emery moved through the tables of customers some way more attractive than she expected. The idea of picking up humans or other supernatural beings crossed her mind. Suddenly, her decision about becoming a bartender became much more appealing. Once she got to the bar she adjusted her shirt lifting her breasts so that her cleavage was easily seen among her black tank top. She then slid into one of the empty stools right next to some guy chugging a large mug of foamy beer. She glanced over at the man serving people drinks down at the other end of the bar. Here we go, she said to herself as she let a fake smile spread across her lips. “Excuse me? I’m looking for the owner. Do you know where I can find him?”

Kai just laughed it up with a couple of customers. Had to make them feel comfortable after all. No one could say that it smelled in his club, aside from the fragrances. With the number of things that went on in his bar he was not about to have a stench roaming the air. He had a number of fragrances that ran through the vents to keep the smell fresh and appealing. With the amount of blood that was drunk at his bar he need to keep the air clean as much as possible. It was just what he always needed to do and he would not change it.
Kai just went on serving his drinks. Drinking himself every now and then. Actually, what he was in the mood for was some blood. He was getting rather hungry. Perhaps he be calling it a night soon for himself. The club would be opened for a few more hours but he had the ability to leave without any worries of his club burning down. Kai was getting another bottle of vodka when a sweet voice spoke to him from behind he turned with a curious look. It was a new girl. Kai had a photographic memory and thus he could know who was a usual customer and who were the newcomers. Plus she gave herself away too. The moment she asked for the owner. Anyone who had come to Bloodlust enough would know that Kai owned this lovely bar. He looked her up and down. She was an attractive thing that was for sure. What could this beauty want with him? He passed over the bottles of vodka to one of his employees. "Depends? Who's asking? And what for?" he asked her curiously. "You're obviously new here. Here." he said as he started pouring her a shot of vodka. "Have a drink. On the house." he said as he put the bottle away. "Down that hallway you'll find a door that says office. Wait there and I'll let the owner knwo you're waiting."

Emery watched the Asian bartender as he passed down the vodka bottles so swiftly. She could definitely tell that he had been doing this for quite a while. If she’d be working with him, she definitely wouldn’t mind being extra friendly with him. She had always had a thing for Asians. Caleb was Asian actually, and as memories of him flashed into her mind, she caught herself losing that fake smile she was sporting. She cleared her throat and leaned on the counter resting her head on her palm. Memories were never something she liked to allow to slip through the cracks of the numerous walls she had put up around herself. There really was no room for them in her new life. At least not room she was willing to give up. “Yep, new I am.” When he poured her a shot of vodka, she smiled. She loved when she got things for free, although this was just him being hospitable. She debated on whether or not to answer his first few questions about why she needed to speak with the owner. It was really none of this guy’s business why she wanted to see the owner. Her reasons were between the owner and her….and if she happened to work with this guy later on in the week, maybe him too.
Emery slammed the shot and winced as the burning sensation flowed down her throat. She hated the taste of vodka, but boy did she love its effects. She nodded at the bartender’s directions and hopped off the stool. “Thanks for the drink,” she said with a smile as she headed towards the back hallway he was talking about. Once she got back there, the office wasn’t hard to find.
Emery turned the door handle and walked into the room. She was actually surprised at the view in here. It wasn’t anything fancy. Just a normal office with a desk and some comfy chairs for workers to come in and discuss the job or to participate in some kinky sex depending on what this boss was actually like. There was also a computer as well sitting on the desk and then cabinets in the corner. Everything looked pretty normal actually. Emery moved towards the desk running her fingers across the top. She lifted her hand glancing at it. No dust. Huh, he was clean too. Her eyes moved from the desk to the cabinets. She reached up and pulled on the doors. They didn’t budge. Maybe he was hiding something crazy in there. Like body parts or something. Emery could only hope that her new boss would be that cool.
Emery sighed as she plopped down on the sleazy chair across from his desk. She wondered what kind of demon he’d be. Maybe a baccrum? A darthor? A windella? He sure as well wasn’t going to be a human, that she could count on. When it came to the supernatural, most humans were either clueless or hunters. She was beginning to get bored with her own thoughts. Her hands began to drum on the arms of the chair, which happened quite frequently when she didn’t know what else to do with them. She hoped it wouldn’t take him forever. Being impatient was probably one of her worst qualities.

"You're welcome."Kai just watched as the girl began to make her way towards the office. It looks like she still hadn't figured it out. Was she in for a surprise. Only the newbies normally didn't know that Kai was the owner of bar. Sometimes he had met people who actually thought the bar was owned by a demon. it was quite humorous really. He'd let her wait just a bit. Just to build up the suspense. He went back to serving some drinks here and there. He even drank some himself. He never forgot the girl that was waiting for him in his office. He just had a few more important things like attending to his customers. When he finally decided that he would spare the girl anymore suspense he told one of his employees that he would be in his office for now. Once he was ready he made his way towards the back hallway where a pretty girl was waiting for him.
He reached the door of the office and walked in casually like he owned the place. Well, actually he did. He walked up to his desk and sat on the front of it. he looked down upon the girl who was sitting down on the sleazy chair that sat across from desk and just smirked. "You wanted to talk to the owner and here I am. The name's Kai for future reference. So I'll ask again. Who's asking and for what?" he said it in a very casual voice. He crossed his arms as he watched her.

”Come on, really?” she said aloud as she rolled her eyes and let her head fall back, her mahogany loose curls draping behind the back of the chair. She didn’t even know why she was so anxious right now. It wasn’t like she actually had to worrying about getting the job. All she had to do was seduce him into giving it to her. That was always how she got what she wanted. What was the point in doing things the hard way when you had an advantage over everyone else?
Just as she was about to forget meeting the owner and go back to flirting with the guy at the bar, the door opened. Emery lifted her head back up and watched as ‘that’ guy walked in and headed over to the desk in front of her. Emery was a tad bit confused. What the heck was he doing in here? She sat up. “Okay, if you’re here to tell me that I have to wait a few more minutes, I’m outie.” But as the guy began to speak to her, she realized that that wasn’t the reason he was in there at all. He was in fact the owner of this fabulous joint. She nodded with a smile. “Ah, a little fact you couldn’t tell me out at the bar?” She stood up and stepped towards him stopping right in front of him. “I see how the owner can get a girl alone.” She brushed her hair out of her face flashing him that same fake smile she had when she first walked into Bloodlust. “I’m Emery and I’m kinda lookin’ for a job. Is there anything you could possibly think of that I’d be good at?” She shifted her weight to her left leg allowing her hip to curve out as she crossed her arms over her chest.

So Kai had been right. She was surprised that it was him. Actually she believed that he was coming to say something about the boss. It was quite amusing. As soon as he started talking she realized that he owned the place. He just smirked at her next question. "I might have, if you would have been just as open to sharing." it wasn't a snarky remark or anything. It was quite casual, a bit teasingly. He just watched her as she walked a bit closer to him. "Believe me, I could get a girl alone a lot simpler than that." he was still waiting on her name and what she wanted but thankfully she didn't make him wait much longer.
He looked up and down. "Well, first of you can drop the smile act." Kai had been around long enough to know when someone is faking something. "Something tells me there's a lot you can do and you know that as well. You're not human, not many humans venture out this far on their own and this sober. And you're not a vampire or a witch. That leaves demon. As to what demon, well that's not really any of my business so we'll leave it at that. I'm a go out on a limb and say you're new to L.A. Most people who are new to the bar are new to the city. Correct me if I'm wrong at any time." he said as he got up from his sitting position and walked around his desk to pull out a piece of paper. "The only thing I can offer you is a job behind the bar. As tasty as you as you look I leave the blood drinking jobs to the humans, especially since I don't have to pay them. If you want the job, you start tonight. If not then you're welcomed to enjoy the rest of your stay at the bar. There's no dress code. It's whatever you're most comfortable in. If anyone in the bar gives you trouble you come to me or if I'm not here which isn't uncommon just tell one of the other employees and they will take care of it. My one main rule is, leave your drama outside. I don't need problems in my bar. Do that and everything should be good. So what do you want to do?" he was very straightforward. When it came to his bar, then it was business. If Emery chose to follow what he said then all should be well. It was as simple as that.

Emery’s smile faded. Okay, he was good or maybe she was just rusty. The smile act was a bit of a stretch. Yes, she so often became a different person to get what she wanted from people. But her heart just wasn’t into it today. But what really irked her was the fact that there was nothing. Not a damn thing. Normally her even walking into a room would at least catch a few glances, but Kai just pushed off his desk and walked around it disregarding her attempts completely. She tried to conceal her shock at how not interested he seemed. She couldn’t even remember the last time that had happened. “No, you’re just about right.”
Emery listened to where he was going with this conversation. It was straight forward all the way. The only thing that he said that wasn’t about his precious Bloodlust was the fact that she looked ‘tasty’, which was good to hear. At least he didn’t find her unattractive. It made her feel a little better about the fact that her succubus mojo wasn’t working the way she had hoped tonight. It looked like she would have to do this the hard way. “Well, I can mix drinks, that’s about it,” she said a little agitated at how this whole scene had just played out. Although now that it did, she couldn’t help but find this as more of a challenge than anything else. She would definitely try harder for future reference. And the fact that she had to try harder was intriguing to her. She hated when she couldn’t play with her victims. Although if she worked with this guy, it would probably be best for him to not become one of her victims. “So, yeah, I’m thinking bartender. I’m very good with people, just not you apparently.” She said with a hint of curiosity as to what he was. He had to be a demon or something as well though if her glamour didn’t work on him that easily. Humans were a piece of cake to seduce. It hadn’t taken Emery more than three minutes to get to the guy that she killed last night. And now she was living in his house. A demon took much more focus, which she definitely didn’t walk in here with. But now that he knew she was a demon, it would be even harder because he would always have his guard up. Oh well. It sounded like she was hired already, so she would have plenty of time to do something with her interest in him.

Kai simply watched as her smile faded. It was amusing really. It wasn't that he found her unattractive or anything, but she came in here with business about Bloodlust. His bar was not something he talked about lightly. It was important to him and thus he took any business about Bloodlust seriously. There could be time for fun later. He guessed that that wasn't something she was use to though.
He was very straightforward with how things worked. It was up to her if she wanted to take it. By the looks of it she was. Kai just smirked with a mischievous glint in his eyes at her when she made her comment about being good with people but not him. "Well, most humans are weak minded and pathetic which is why they can be so easy to manipulate and have fun with compared to demons and vampires, especially those of us who have been around for a very long time. But I promise you this, get your job done, and we'll get along just fine. Someone as pretty as you, it would be hard not to." He didn't want to make her feel to bad at the way he had treated her early. He took a seat again on the front of his desk. "There will be plenty of time to get to know each other." And if she was up for it he would be more than happy to keep that promise. Then his smirk faded as his head started to hurt a bit. He put his hand on his head. "Well, like I said. You start tonight. You can leave your stuff in here if you..." he said but then trailed of as he started to become a little lightheaded. "Sorry, just a little lightheaded. I'm gonna need a drink." and he wasn't talking about the liquor kind. He needed a feeding. He had already planned on leaving before Emery showed up. She had made him forget about leaving since she wanted to talk to him. Not it was beginning to take a bit of a toll on him. The locked cabinets held his private supply of blood. He had blood there for days that he didn't go out for a hunt.

So, he was a demon or a vampire, that was about all she could go off of at this point. She couldn’t even begin to guess which one. If he was a demon, he was definitely one of those ‘pretty’ ones. And she didn’t know enough about vampires to be sure that he was one either. And it kind of was her business if she would be working with him. But she would find out eventually. She had a way of doing so. She smirked at his comment about them getting along easily because she was pretty. She figured it was probably just him trying to make up for the non-interest he had given her before. He must have noticed that it irritated her. Man, she really had to work on her emotions because lately they seemed to be creeping up on her at the worst times. “Yes, I imagine there will be.”
Just as those words left her mouth, his smile faded as he reached for his head. She wasn’t sure how to react. He obviously had some discomfort, but Emery didn’t really care one bit. She was tempted to play that fake card, but he had so easily discovered that it was just a façade last time that she didn’t want to bother with it. And as he continued talking, it seemed as if he was alluding to her leaving anyways. She sighed and turned around walking towards the door. “Alright, I’ll get out there and start makin’ some money.” When she reached the door, before grabbing the door handle, she spun around once more. She listened to his small apology. “So, I’m guessing discussing the pay around here is for another day, then?” She asked. When he mentioned the drink though, she was a bit bewildered. If Emery had a headache, drinking would be the last thing she would think of to be doing to fix that problem.

Kai rubbed his head. This is what he got for waiting so long to feed. Kai normally did not wait this long but for whatever reason he just never got around to do it during his usual time period. Not it was beginning to take its toll. He had a slight headache that was killing him and making him lightheaded. He was able to catch what Emery said about pay. He had forgotten about that. "Ten bucks an hour and whatever tips you get are yours." he said rubbing his head. "Just go out and I'll be there in a little while. If you have any questions just ask Leo and he'll be able to help you. Excuse me." he didn't even wait to see her leave the room before he used his vampiric speed to get to the cabinet and open it up. Inside were a couple of what looked like red wine bottles. He grabbed on and a glass and started pouring. Only this wasn't red wine. It was red but not wine. What he was pouring was blood. Blood that he had saved up. When he had poured enough he took the glass in hands, swirled it a bit as he sat down at his desk and savored the taste.

Emery had never worked at a bar before, but 10 bucks an hour plus tips? Hell, she’d be rolling in the doe! Which wasn’t really needed anyway because of the huge stash of money the dead corpse lying in her new living room left for her. Maybe she’d finally be able to buy that boat she’d been hoping to buy. Yes, a boat. Killers can like being out on the water too. But it was more the sounds of the waves crashing against the aluminum siding and the rocking from side to side. It was very calming to Emery. Caleb would always take her out on his boat. That was the one thing she did miss about him.
When Kai told her to go out to the bar, Emery didn’t hesitate. She was feeling a bit cramped in there anyways, plus, this guy was starting to act just a bit strange. She didn’t say anything as she headed towards the door. When she turned to glance back at him her hair swooped over her cheek as a gust of air hit her face. Kai had moved from his desk to the locked cabinets with speed that Emery couldn’t even imagine was possible. But the surprise only last a few moments. So he was fast. She didn’t know of any demon who was fast, but there was a first for everything.
When he reached for the locked cabinets, Emery paused. She was anxious to see if there really were bodies in there. Honestly to her, he didn’t seem like the killing type at all, but when he took out that wine bottle and began to pour its contents into the glass, she assumption immediately changed. She had had enough blood on her hands in the past to know that what he was drinking was indeed blood. Emery took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She nodded. “Okay, I’ll get right on that,” she managed to flash him that fake smile one last time before pulling open the door the rest of the way and leaving his office. Wow, this was going to be interesting. Her new boss was a vampire.
