Olivia stood, blood dripping from her muzzle. She tilted her head, staring at the deer she had killed. She had decided to shift into a coyote for some reason, and her fur was splattered with mud and blood and stuck up in odd tufts here and there. The deer was in the middle of the path in the forest. She huffed as she shook her pelt, not really caring about the blood, but the mud was making parts of her pelt itch in annoyance.
She sneezed and sat back, staring at her handiwork. She wondered if someone would be around to see it soon. Would they appreciate it? Or would they run screaming?
Her pointed ears twitched back when she suddenly heard footsteps. They were farther down the path, not close to her yet. She blinked once, and turned to wander into the brush, wanting to wait for the person to come around the bend. She unknowingly shifted into a small child, with long blond hair and deep sea-green eyes. An image that broke her a little more inside when she saw it in a mirror.
"Come come little bird," she whispered in a child's voice to the unknown person walking down the path. "Come see my gift..."

Cassie found herself walking in the forest. Though it wasn’t clear why she was there, she decided she might as well make the best of it. The slight chill and silence may have spooked most people but she enjoyed it, the chill reminded her of home back in Britain. He journey here was a big one. She found herself a job working as a waitress and sorting out for a new apartment. So she was completely happy where she was. Away from it all, away from the terror. She ran away from a world of monsters. She knew there was one here, one responsible for the death of her parents. “S.C.H.” is all she got, it was her only clue. But it got her so far.
She walked down the path, oddly just enjoying it all. But she was suddenly startled a bit. She saw paw prints, red ones, this couldn’t be good she thought. She slowly moved closer and then she was startled even more. There was a deer in the middle of the path. “Oh…wow…not so lovely”. The sight of blood freaked her out, but never scared her. She looked at the poor deer as she slowly approached it. “Oh..wow..you poor animal. Who did this to you?” Cassie was closer now as she tip toed through the bloody parts and then made her way behind the deer. She dropped to her knees as she watched the deer.
She looked into it’s eyes and wondered. What was it’s story. Did this deer have children, did it have an owner, what was it doing here. She continued to stare into it’s eyes. “You go to sleep now you poor thing……lovely”. Cassie slowly closed the deer’s as she looked at it, even after suffering it laid here so peacefully. But Cassie was startled even more when she heard a twig crack. Someone was out there. Was it the person who did this? Was it another innocent wanderer like herself? “Oh wow…is anyone there? Hello?” Cassie looked around, scouting the area trying to see if anyone was around.

Olivia watched as a girl walked out from around the path. She stiffened, her small child hands grasping the twig she had picked up to play with. The girl looked like an older Elise, like her daughter might have looked if she hadn't... Hadn't...
Maybe she is Elise... A small voice in the back of her head whispered as she watched the girl fall to her knees next to the deer. She didn't want this girl to see that mess. She began to feel bad, like she did every time a child found a kill of hers. Though this woman was not a child, she looked so much like her daughter, just older than her little Elise had been.
She hadn't realized the twig in her hands had snapped until the girl, startled, had called out to see if anyone else was there. I wonder if I can keep her from seeing the deer anymore...
Olivia, looking like a small child, stepped out of the forest slowly so the girl could see her. She was good at playing the part of a child, so she let her green eyes go wide with fear and tears, and let her bottom lip tremble. She barely looked nine years old. "The deer..." She sniffled sadly as she lifted a hand to wipe at the tears that started to drip from her eyes down her cheeks. "Is the pretty deer dead?"

Cassie looked around, she couldn’t see anything. She swore she heard a twig snap, so someone had to be out there. Was it a man, a woman, a rabbit, she liked rabbits, so cuddly and kind. And really quick at times. She remembered having one once upon a time. She needed to stop thinking further than needed. What was the point? She focused on the twig again. “Hello is someone out there?” she said in her cute British accent. She looked around but she couldn’t see anything. It was already pitch dark in the woods. Then she heard footsteps coming from behind her as she quickly turned around to see who it was.
To her surprise it was this little girl. A pretty little girl, with long blond hair. The blond hair was very similar to hers, in fact the girl could have been her little sister. But obviously that wasn’t possible since both her parents were dead. She knows since she heard it all happen at the age of five. The girl didn’t seem worried or scared. Cassie looked on trying to comfort the little girl. “Oh....wow...Hello little girl, what are you doing out here all alone? Where is your mommy?” Cassie slowly got to her feet and walked towards the little girls as she slowly bend down to get a better look of the little girls face. “Hi, I’m Cassie, what’s your name?” The little girl didn’t really answer her.
Cassie wondered what this little girl was doing in this dark all alone. She had to be with someone. Maybe she knows what happened to the deer. Maybe she was with whoever did it. “Hey, little girl, do you know did this? Did you see what happened?” Cassie smiled at the little girl, trying to make her feel safe and so she could open up to Cassie. “It’s okay, I won’t hurt you” Cassie was trying to open up to this girl. Where most would be bothered of the idea of a little girl in the middle of the forest this late at night. That never crossed Cassie’s mind at all that it’s a bit weird.

Olivia blinked up at the girl, fat tears welling in her green eyes. She blinked again, and a tear slid down her face. They were fake tears, yes, but Liv didn't think the girl would be able to tell the difference. Probably wouldn't want to. "I'm Olivia..." She said in her childs voice. She sniffled again, and tilted her head to see the woman better.
"I don't have a mommy..." She said softly. It was true enough, Olivia's mother died back during the Black Plague years, and Elise was far beyond need of a mother now. "Or a daddy either..." She sniffled again, and she felt a real pang of grief. Some distant part of her missed her family. "Is the deer dead?"

Cassie noticed tears slowly gliding down this girl’s cheeks. Her eyes glassy and watery. She told said her name was Olivia. Which was a cute name. Cassie slowly raised her hand and slowly cleaned the little girls cheek as she brushes Olivia’s hair behind her ear as Cassie smiles with her. “Oh ….wow…Lovely, your name is really lovely.”
Cassie smiled at the girl noticing she is staring at the dead deer. Cassie tried to get her attention as the little girl tells her that she doesn’t have a mother or a father. This his home to Cassie, since she didn’t have any parents either. She felt bad for this girl because she could understand her pain. She could understand why this girl was so sad. “Oh…wow…you are just like me. I don’t have a mommy or daddy either. But is anyone taking care of you? It’s dark and scary out here and I’m pretty sure you want to go home”.
Olivia was just staring at this deer as if she knew what had happened. Cassie couldn’t help but notice it. Cassie tried her best to distract her from the obvious dead deer. Then Olivia asked the question, I the deer was dead. Cassie wondered how she would handle this one. Cassie put on the biggest smile she could and then tried to sugar coat the situation a bit. “Oh…wow…no, he’s taking a nap. I don’t think he has a mommy or daddy either. He’s just like us. So why don’t we leave him here to take his nap and dream about his mommy and daddy and I go take you home. If you want we can go get some ice cream. I’m pretty sure someone is worried about you”. Cassie tried to sound as bubbly and positive as possible. Cassie stands up and extends her hand in hopes of this girl leaving the forest with her and Cassie getting her somewhere safe or even better yet, home.
