It was international stare-at-the-new-kid-day today obviously. Jace walked passed people who stared. She was really lucky she got late acceptance but she was pretty eager to get there. It was LA, the city of dreams and opportunity. Not to mention the ability to turn a very average girl into something big. That is what she hoped for at least. Blonde strands falling over her face, she looked down at the map. It was very abstract and she turned it a few times to make sense of it. She was trying to find her dorm, a very impossible task actually. Doesn't sound like it and she shouldn't think that after the ten thousand hour introduction she got from the Dean and the bunch of notes she had to sign before being able to get into the routine. A routine she may say without her mother.
She turned a corner and found herself near a fountain. No, unless she was an exotic mermaid she hadn't found it. Jace rolled her eyes. She was never going to find it and she still hadn't packed anything. Her bags were supposedly outside her dorm, ready to be packed into her room. Unfortunately she had no idea how to get there. "Great Jace". She looked around. Maybe one of those instant new girl friendships would happen. When some kind person would waltz up, ask if she needed help and walk her to the building. Unfortunately LA wasn't giving her that, so sitting on the edge of the fountain she looked down at the page.
Then it happened. A rush of wind ran over the grass. It caught her sight as she looked down at the ground. The travelling rustle in grassy green blades ran across the ground. If that wasn't weird enough, the fountain behind her turned into a nuclear weapon. The gentle streams mutated into hectic lasers of water that splash at her. She squealed slightly, her leather jacket sprinkled with water as she looked at it. Earth misplacing and water flowing rapidly. Jace knew what it was. It was the world's way of saying to keep an eye open because something off was going on here. If only the world could just send her a text. Suddenly though, the winds died and the fountain died down as soon as a foot landed on the ground beside her. Spinning around startled, she looked at the person.

Today was just one of those dull days, it would seem. She had a few classes, but most of her friends were busy screwing their opposite other in the dormitories or something, which by the way, was disgusting and some information she just didn't need to know about. The pathetic thing was that they hadn't actually informed her of what exactly they were doing back there, but she had grown to understand exactly what they do back there just from all the off experiences in the past, which she wished she could erase from her mind. Unfortunately, a spell just wasn't that handy in doing that, unless she wanted to risk the chance of permanent amnesia or something. Even if it was temporary, she couldn't see Everette or some of the other witches reversing the spell and helping her out.
Walking solo down the track, she admired the cool breeze, though disliked the idea of spending her afternoon alone. How depressing, she was never alone, it just wasn't right. It couldn't be! Then as she walked, the oddest thing happened. Well odd for her, entirely frieghtening and faint-worthy for most others; the fountain had apparently gained a life of its own and was splashing water everywhere. The very strange thing? There was a blonde girl on the recieving end of this, and she didn't know who this chick was. Obviously someone new, as she hadn't seen her around, which raised some suspicion. She walked closer, looking over curiously as to what was actually happening. She instantly assumed someone was playing some prank on this new girl, but then she realized that other things were acting abnormally around her, in a way she hadn't really seen before. After all, she knew most of the witches at this school, and oddly enough, she didn't know this girl. Coincidence? She thought not.
Walking over, she smirked softly at the now slightly wet girl. "I never knew the fountains around here came loaded with their own jets; you must have angered the fountain or something, because by the looks of it, it didn't like you too much. You didn't try throwing a coin in there and make a wish did you?" She walked closer, raising her hand out to the girl with a slightly cheerful smile. "I'm Kyra. Here I was thinking we had some things in common based on your decent sense in fashion which is so obviously lacking around here, but it seems we may have more in common than the both of us actually realize." She did seem like she could fit into 'her crowd' and if she was actually a witch, even better. She did need some more in the coven on her side, maybe this one could help her with that?

Looks can be decieving. Jace looked at the girl in front of her. When she saw her, she didn't look intimidating. Honey curls, a pretty face and didn't seem vindictive. When Jace spun and faced her, she smiled at the girl friendly. She wasn't horrible at making friends, but she wasn't exactly professional at making friends back in Miami. Or really any friends. Jace was kind of a self-isolating girl. So hear in LA, where she can have a fresh start and even a new life, she could make friends. Even though things like the possessed fountain would constantly keep happening. And she didn't really know why exactly. But that is for a later story.
She went to speak, but then the cryptic intimidating talk from this honey blond came. Jace shut up, looking at her as she acted very twitchy about the fountain. Yeah, I just blew that up with my mind? How you ask? No idea. Jace kept her mouth shut, looking at her girl with a puzzled expression as she looked at the girl. Jace couldn't reply, but stood still as she looked back at the fountain. It was normal now, but it wasn't. Not because of her. "It must have been some kind of risen water pressure. Only way to explain that kind of thing, right?". She smiled innocently at the girl, but then a hand went towards her. Jace looked from the hand and back up at the girl as she introduced herself.
The girl was weirder, and Kyra made things much different. Did she know? How could she know? The mysteries of an ultra powered fountain. Jace couldn't say anything now, but she couldn't be bitchy. Unlike the girl standing in front of her. Jace just took her hand, shaking it. "I'm Jace. I - have to go and find my dorm. It's like a labyrinth around here. I'll see you around". Though as the blond tightened her grip on the girls hand, she felt it. A vibe, a course of energy that hit her palm. This girl was a witch, and as witchy as they came. She couldn't explain how she knew, but when she felt that she looked up at the girl. A normal life at a normal school? Yeah right.

She looked at Jace suspiciously as she gave the explanation of rising water levels. "Well I'm no scientist; actually never really gave a crap about science in general, but I'd go on a limb to say it was a little coincidental for a water fountain to suddenly do that, just as you were casually walking by. Don't you think? I mean, it is a water fountain not a fire hydrant, after all. There isn't exactly...Much pressure involved." Something was suss about this situation. It was normal for the girl to try and cover up the event; she either knew what happened and was denying it for obvious exposure reasons, or she had no clue at all, probably as a result of being a blonde. But for some reason, that just didn't seem to be the case. The girl didn't seem very freaked out by the fact that she was just attacked by a water fountain, something which would usually happen for someone who was unaware of 'magic.'
She became even more suspicious when the girl abruptly explained that she needed to go; yep, something was definantly up, and the girl knew about it. She quickly followed after the girl, feeling the connection between them as they shook hands, she knew the girl felt it as well. "Hey! Wait up! Finding your dorm isn't a very good excuse considering you have someone right in front of you who can help you find it, and secondly, I know who you are; and I have a feeling you know that too. There's no need to be defensive or secretive, maybe we can grab a coffee after showing you to your dorm. The sooner you realize who you can trust and console in around here, the better off you will be." She could see great potential in this girl, she just hoped the girl would realize it.

Not a scientist? Was she kidding because yeah, it's a funny joke. Only a scientist would look into this like that. Jace looked to the side, trying not to roll her eyes or anything. This less-then-peppy cheerleader was seriously barking far up the wrong tree. Jace finally looked to her, but this wasn't the casual scientific view someone would take. There was something else, something this girl was scratching at the surface of. She so hoped it wasn't the worst; the truth. But how? She was analysing this to the brink, a curiousity that was seriously pushing Jace's buttons. She tried not to chuckle but one thing was for sure, she wasn't trusting this girl. ''It's a nice hypothesis for a girl claiming not to be a scientist''. Giving her a perculiar smile and turned to walk away. A verged nightmare; maybe she was just made for college.
But this dream wasn't ending any time soon. Kyra came up behind her, trying to talk to her. Jace kept trying to move forwards, ignore the girls words as she tried to reason with Jace. A failed attempt as Jace shook her head slightly, the wind blowing through her delicate hair. But the winds seemed to freeze in time when Jace's heart stopped. What she was? Stopping, she turned towards the girl, who was now insisting they go for coffee. It wasn't just shock in Jace's eyes, but anger. The grey skies above them cracked as she looked into Kyra's eyes.
''Listen, I don't want this. Any of this. No coffee, no talking - no explanations. Just, leave me alone okay''. Innocence and anger rolled into one expression. Then suddenly, a burst of wind buzzed passed them. Cassie flinched, feeling her energy melding with the wind. It was one strong gust, and Jace knew it was her. A Covak lineage of elemental witches, it didn't make life easy. Especially from the fact that her mother couldn't do what she could. That was always a worry, but more was from the fact that she could potentially kill someone because of it. It made life hard, and also from the fact that emotions triggered strange crap happening. Until she can get it under control, she wanted to be alone. Specifically, she wanted to be left alone from people trying to instigate her using her powers, like Kyra.

Was this girl walking away from her, rather obviously in fact, as if she was some kind of relentless salesperson? Firstly, how dare this girl be so rude and walk away from her of all people, and secondly, she was nothing like one of those salespeople, so she didn't really appreciate being treated like one. "Hey! Still talking here!" It seemed to have worked, to some extent, as the girl soon turned and focused her attention on Kyra once again. However Kyra soon recieved a spoonfull, this girl obviously had some issues she was dealing with. However Kyra being who she was, didn't really give a crap. This girl had some serious power, and she wanted to learn more about her.
She paused for a moment, taking in what the girl said. "Okay, if you don't drink coffee, we can do something else. By the way, thats rather odd, just saying." Without much hesitation, a burst of wind surged towards and past them before she could even react to it. She brushed her hair away from her face, looking at the girl in confusion and slight shock. "Okay...Shesh, no need to get all violent on me now. I'm just looking out for you, whether you like it or not. You just seem like you could use a friend, and a friend who understands who you are like none of the others could. But you can always just walk off and continue being all 'mother nature' on everything around you, but just remember...This is a big university, and you have no way of finding your way around by yourself. You need me, because honey, that school map is outdated and really isn't too accurate. In other words, your screwed." She smiled cooly as she eyed the girl. If this girl didn't want her help or friendly gestures, fine, but she knew that if she had this girl on her side in her coven, she would have more power behind her.
