Lily was livid.
Everette had told her enough last night for her to piece a few things together about the breakup between her and Xzavier. It explained so much. She would have come over last night, but Gwen had insisted on getting drunk and Lily hadn't been able to say no. Her raging headache from her hangover didn't help her mood. At all.
Xzavier was in for it.
She slammed on her breaks outside his house. She had no idea if Everette was home or not, she had lost track of him after the sixth tequila shot. Hell, she'd lost track of herself after that one.
Getting out, she barely remembered to lock her car before she slammed the door shut and stalked up to his front door. Banging on it, she yelled, "Xzavier! Open the damn door!"

Xzavier turned on the t.v. and then settled down on the couch with a beer. He frowned when he realized that what he was watching was some kind of romance movie. Making a face, he quickly flipped the channel. Then, he made a face. He didn't wanna watch the news. He flipped the channel again and stopped for a few seconds before changing the channel once more. Boring, boring, boring the man thought as he began surfing through the channels. Suddenly, he heard a pounding on his door. "Xzavier! Open the damn door!" he heard someone shout. What's Lily doing here? he wondered. With a sigh, he turned off the t.v. and then walked to his door and opened it slightly. "What are you doing here, Lily? he asked.

Lily was tempted to beat her fist against the door again. Somewhere in the back of her head, she knew this was a bad idea. But she hated being lied to. No one had ever lied to her, not even her mother when she asked who her father was. It was bad enough she had to deal with lying clients all the time. It was worse when the man she loved broke up with her and lied about it.
When Xzavier opened the door, she nearly slammer her fist into him, since she had been going to hit the door again when it suddenly jerked open. She yanked her arm back, and glared daggers at him. What Everette had said last night came rushing back, and something akin to fury sizzled along her skin, and burned in her eyes.
"Why don't we talk about the reason you broke up with me," She demanded as she reached out and shoved a hand into his chest, trying to push him back a couple of steps so she could step inside. She shut the door behind her, squeezing in past Xzavier. No need to give the neighbors a show. It was the most she could do to keep from screaming at him right here.
"Well?" She demanded. "Was it because you're a witch and didn't want to freak me out?" Her voice was nearly a snarl as she confronted him. Her combination of a headache severe enough to warrant a day in bed with a pillow over her face, and of the pain she felt that he might have only broke it off for some stupid reason made her reckless.

"Why don't we talk about the reason you broke up with me?" she demanded, shoving a hand into his chest, causing him to stumble back, giving her the opportunity to open the door further and walk in. "Well?" she demanded. "It's complicated," he answered. He couldn't very well tell her the truth. She'd never understand. "Was it because you're a witch and didn't want to freak me out?" she snarled. Xzavier's jaw dropped. She knew? How? He had always been so careful not to use his powers or mention anything about the Supernatural world around her. "A witch? Wha---what are you talking about?" he asked. There's no such thing as witches," he continued. Well, there was, but he wasn't one. Not that he was about to tell her that. "Lily, whatever gave you such a ridiculous idea?" he queried.

When Xzavier said it was complicated, she felt the fury burst. When she brought up him being a witch, he tried to lie, which made everything worse. She took a step back, crossing her arms over her chest as if to protect herself from him. "Why are you always lying to me?" She asked, but her voice had lost the fury. Her voice was emotionless, though her eyes swam with fury, pain, and unshed tears.
"I know what you are, Xzavier. Did you think a private investigator wouldn't have found out somehow?" She stared at him. She wouldn't tell him that Everette had told her, and that all of her P.I. work regarding him had turned up nothing. She didn't want him to get mad at Everette, which is surely what he would do if he found out. So she evaded his question with the best of them, her eyes filled with tears and pain and anger. "Come on Xzavier, I'm not an idiot. I can find things almost easier than the cops sometimes. Give me a break."

"Why are you always lying to me?" she asked emotionlessly. "I know what you are, Xzavier. Did you think a private investigator wouldn't have found out somehow?" Xzavier's eyes clouded with worry. "Lily", he interjected. "Come on Xzavier, I'm not an idiot. I can find things almost easier than the cops sometimes. Give me a break." "You can't be here. We cannot be seen together. If anyone ever found out about you...I'm not gonna let that happen. Lily, you have forget me. Should be easy enough," he told her. Come on, Lil. Use your head. I can't have you trying to get yourself killed. I'd never forgive myself if anything happened to you, he silently pleaded. If he lost Lily, he didn't know what he'd do...

Lily squeezed herself tighter when Xzavier told her that she shouldn't be here. He wouldn't think she could protect herself, of course. He never thought she could, she realized vaguely, but that didn't really bother her as much as it might otherwise have. "You think I can't protect myself." It wasn't a question. Her voice still held no emotion.
She could pull out her gun and shoot him- that would show him she could protect herself. However, the urge to do so was much too strong right then, and she didn't think she'd be able to stop at just a graze on his arm. She could do that if she wanted, but right then, she thought she'd plug him between the eyes instead...
That was definitely not productive.
"I'm not defenseless... I might not have amazing magic like you do, Xzavier, but I can hold my own with most big men you know." The anger was all but gone, having drained away. Now, she was just hurt and sad. She didn't look away from his face though, her eyes staring into his. "So why don't you tell me the truth, instead of just trying to get me to leave? Because you should know be better than that."

"You think I can't protect myself." Zxavier sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "That's not it at all. I know very well you can protect yourself," he responded. "I'm not defenseless...I might not have amazing magic like you do, Xzavier, but I can hold my own with most big men you know." She looked at him, her expression hurt and sad. "So why don't you tell me the truth, instead of just trying to get me to leave? Because you should know me better than that." "For one thing, I do know you better than that. This has nothing to do with how good of a fighter you are. I thought you knew me better than that. And for another thing, I don't have any magic!" he exclaimed. Why couldn't he get her to see that? "Just please..go..." he said, hating the imploring tone that creeped into his voice.

Lily just let him talk. She wouldn't leave, not until she understood. She heard the tone in his voice, the imploring tone that begged her to leave. Upset tightened around her heart and she bit the inside of her lip to keep herself from crying or something else stupid like that.
"I won't leave until I understand what's going on..." She murmered. She looked back at him, her eyes deep with emotion she couldn't have hidden if she tried. "I'm tired of being lied to, evaded, and I don't want to be in the dark anymore. Do you even know what you did to me?" The last sentence was a bare whisper, barely audible even to herself.

As he talked, Lily didn't saw a word, just stared at him. "I won't leave until I understand what's going on..." she murmured. "I'm tired of being lied to, evaded, and I don't want to be in the dark anymore. Do you even know what you did to me?" she asked, the question just barely audible. "Dang it, Lily! Just go!" he shouted, his voice rising. He had tried to be polite, he had tried begging...but it wasn't working. If any of the creatures he and Everette were hunting found out that he was still into her, she'd be killed for sure. "I hurt you, I get that! But I don't care any more! I can't keep beating myself up for dropping you! It happened! Just accept it and move on!" he continued, his chest tightening as he spouted off at her. He hated hurting her, but if he did, she'd be more likely to stay away from him and out of danger. "Now get out of my house," he ordered, his voice hardening.

Lily only sighed when Xzavier started yelling and ordering. She thought she knew him, and thought that he was worried. It was so hard to tell, with this new Xzavier she'd never seen before. This hardened man, compared to the one she had known which now felt like it was so long ago.
"Fine," She said softly. She looked at him. "I'll leave." She walked to him, and reached up. She kissed him lightly on his chin, about all she could reach without standing on her tip-toes, before she stepped away. "You know where to find me if you ever want to talk." She turned to the door. "I'll see myself out."
She opened the door and shut it quietly behind herself. All the anger, the rage she had felt when she had come here had gone, leaving her tired, her head hurting worse than it had been, and her heart aching, just a little. She climbed into her car and just sat there for a few minutes before she started her car up. She glanced both ways before she drove off towards her office. She would find something out about these supernatural creatures she was starting to realize weren't just in fantasy novels. She had to, for sanity's sake.
