STRENGTHS
[/BLOCKQUOTE]
- Ability Mimicry: One of Corvin's most unique of abilities, is his ability to mimic the powers of any supernatural being that he touches, but he can only use the powers of one being at a time, and the moment he is able to acquire new powers, he automatically loses the powers he once had.
- Life Siphoning: Again, this power requires him to touch another being. This power allows Corvin to sustain his own life force by taking the life from others. It is from this power, that he has been able to stay alive for over eight hundred years. This power also comes in handy if he is mortally wounded. As long as he touches something living, be it sentient or non, he can heal from deadly injuries.
- Mastery of the Dark Arts: Corvin has spent the better part of his lifetime studying black magic. He is an efficient spellcaster, and warlock, and able to wield terrible and deadly dark powers at the mere utter of the word.
- Shadow Teleporting: A unique ability that he has acquired over the years, in which he is able to teleport through shades and dark areas.
- Manipulative: Corvin is a master manipulator, and a deceitful actor. He is also able to effectively make people do his bidding this way, or by having something that they want.
WEAKNESSES
[/BLOCKQUOTE]
- Decapitation: While Corvin has the potential to be truly immortal, he can be killed by decapitation. If his head is not attached to his body, he cannot effectively siphon the power needed to keep himself alive, and will thus rot and decay like any other corpse.
- Power: Corvin's lust for power makes him easily blinded by the big picture of things. While he is normally very focused on the big picture, if someone can offer him power, he can easily rush into the wrong things and make himself vulnerable.
- Temper: One of Corvin's weaknesses is that if he does not get what he wants, he can go into fits of rage, that causes him to be very destructive towards others. Often blindly destroying things that can be beneficial to him.
- Intimidation: Although Corvin is a very powerful warlock, more powerful beings intimidate him, and often he will align himself with them if they prove to be the most powerful being thus far.
- Treachery: In the end, Corvin is all for himself. Even if he absolutely needs someone's assistance, if sacrificing them will save him, then he will ultimately hand them over on a silver platter. It is a serious problem for him, as he will often cash in all chips before the game is over, and can lose a lot in the process.
LIKES
[/BLOCKQUOTE]
- Scotch: Of all the forms of alcohol, aged Scotch is a must have for him. It is a reminder of finer times for him, when he was still an ordinary man in the Scottish Highlands.
- Collecting Magic Items: Corvin is a collector of magical items, and spends a majority of his time traveling the world, collecting artifacts that would grant him extreme power. Corvin is known to have one of the most extensive collections in all of the world.
- Himself: The one person that Corvin loves, is himself. He is extremely prideful in being the man he is today, and obtaining the power that he has acquired over the years. Everyone else is merely a pawn in his eyes.
- Classical Music: Although it is not particularly considered classical music by his standards, Corvin is a fan of listening to classical music when he needs to think, or if he is using his magic to torture another person.
- Torturing: A sadistic being, Corvin takes joy in hurting and tormenting others who he deems a threat against him. He is highly knowledgeable towards torture techniques, and being able to make most people with a tolerance to pain talk.
DISLIKES
[/BLOCKQUOTE]
- White magic: Particularly any kind of good magic, that he deems useless and pathetic. In Corvin's mind, only dark magic truly rules the world, as it is the magic that holds true power. Things that represent good, are petty in his eyes and insignificant to the big picture of life.
- A person lacking business ethic: Corvin, albeit an evil individual, is a businessman first and foremost, and despite his wicked tendencies, if often fond of making deals with people who have something to offer. When a person tries to bargain more than they can offer, it makes doing business with the person extremely nauseating. Often, he will turn down any business offer from people for lacking the proper intellect to even work a deal, however, if they do indeed have something that he wants, he is all for betraying them.
- Thieves: Nobody steals from Corvin Blake. Nobody. He is a wrathful and vicious person to those that would dare attempt to take from him. As such, he has placed many curses on objects that he owns, in such a way to prevent those from stealing from him to get away alive.
- Untidiness: Cleanliness is next to godliness, or in Corvin's case, it is a habit to be kept up with, in order to remain respected by those in his care.
- Having his thoughts challenged: Corvin is always right in his book, and as such, he hates when people challenge his way of thinking, or doing things. His choices are have what kept him alive for nearly a thousand years, and he intends to keep it in such a way.
HISTORY
[/BLOCKQUOTE]
The man, who would be known as Corvin Blake, grew up in the Highlands of Scotland, in the year 1154 A.D. It was a time of terror for his own family, as the Crusades raged across the known land, including Scotland. Many of those under the rule of the Catholic Church were suspected, and persecuted as witches in his time. It was only a matter of time before Knights of the Crusades came to his hometown, and many were burned at the stake for being accused of witchcraft. Corvin's own mother was one of such people. However, after his mother's death, Corvin did indeed discover his own mother's spellbook, learning the truth that she really was a witch, and that it meant that magic too ran in his veins.
Within time, he abandoned his original birth name, in favor of many alternate names growing up, but once he learned all that he could from his mother's spellbook, his appetite for power quickly became insatiable and destructive. Often, he infiltrated black magic covens, and killed many for the sake of obtaining their spell books, and taking in their knowledge and power. With each kill, he became more and more powerful, until he came across one spell book that would give him all the power he could ever dream of.
By sacrificing five witches at a place where the boundaries between this world and the others were at its thinnest, on the night of Samhain, he would be able to garner all of the magic that he desired. In the end, Corvin managed to acquire such witches, and offered them to the Lords of Hell. The Nine Hell Lords answered his request, and took the life forces of each witch, and fed them to Corvin, strengthening his own black soul, and granting him abilities far unlike any other, making him the Lord of the Shadows themselves.
Soon after, Corvin made traveled the world, acquiring the life force of others to strengthen his own, and using an assortment of rare and amazing powers as his own from time to time. The man that Corvin Blake once was, was soon forgotten, and the warlock that was reborn in his place took stead. For years, Corvin began to influence different events throughout history. Bringing certain individuals who could give him what he wanted to power, all the while keeping himself hidden in the shadows, whispering into their ears as they ruled. Napoleon, Stalin, Hitler, Castro, Hussein, Mussolini, all of them were privvy to his assistance, but unbeknownst to most of them, they were merely puppets in his ploy towards acquiring great artifacts that would grant him great and terrible power over others.
Eventually, he came to Los Angeles, in hopes to find a certain individual. One who was destined for the mightiest power of all. A man named Samael.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
[/BLOCKQUOTE]
Corvin is here to ensure that Samael gets the power that he well deserves. Of all the beings that Corvin has influenced throughout history, Samael has proven to him to be the most driven and wicked of the bunch, and the most easy to influence. He has ulterior motives, but these will be motives that will make themselves known within the future, as Corvin and Samael both progress. He is also a shark of business trades, often seeking to take down others that pose a threat to his own black marketing deals, so he often has situations where he makes a lot of chaos for other businesses.

A glass stood on the solid oak table of the minibar. Corvin poured his favorite Scotch into the glass, which was finely aged, and held a peach scent. The scent itself came from cutting open the peach and allowing it to soak in the potent alcohol for a week before setting it in a dark area. Corvin sat down to watch an old video from his collection of when he was in the Soviet Union, posing as a high ranking KGB. A smile crossed his face, as he cherished the fond memory, and saw himself in the video, standing next to Stalin, watching the military parade going through Red Square, knowing that a majority of the people in attendance were forced to participate by other KGB. They were celebrating their victory over Nazi Germany, and when Hitler tried to contact Corvin for wisdom, the warlock was already far out of the country, giving Stalin routes and plans to take down the remainder of Hitler's forces.
It always amused him how easy it was to manipulate these petty individuals. Show off your power, and preach to them fabricated myths and legends, and they fed from your palm like the dogs they were. And with their armies backing you up, you could find anything. In Corvin's case, finding the Spear of Destiny was no easy cause, and it jump started a war between Nazi Germany and the USSR instantly. Originally he had their little onslaught set for a decade later, but with how things escalated, it was wise for him to pick the better group, and the Soviets were far more dedicated than the Nazi's in the end. Sometimes, Corvin wished he could have been there to see Hitler's face when he realized Corvin's betrayal. However, all good things came in time.
But even in due time, Corvin became bored with the Soviets, and up until a little over twenty years ago, he defected from the Soviets, to the United States, when the elements became clear, that it would be the United States that would outlive this Cold War. Soviet Russia was a good place to live for a few decades, but one could only buy a cheap, malfunctioning watch but so many times before it suddenly became a bore. They could probably do it, but he could not and would not. So, without a second's notice, he left the Soviet Union for bigger and better things, informing his few, well paying clients of his departure from Russia, to Los Angeles. It was where the Shadow Visions lead him, and where he was being told to go next. It was a literal breeding ground for magic as well.
