STRENGTHS
[/BLOCKQUOTE]
[independent] - ana has lived her entire life practically taking care of herself. she doesn't rely on anyone to make things easier for her and doesn't exactly like to accept help from others. she wants to make her own way in the world and does just that. she has never really set up roots anywhere and that is both a gold thing and a bad thing. she is pretty cut off from those around her. it makes it easier because then she doesn't have to worry about losing someone she loves but at the same time she does get lonely.
[trained] - ever since ana was born she has been being trained. she is skilled in hand to hand fighting and is also proficient with weapons. she is keenest on hand to hand fighting though and spends most of her time practicing it. she has been trained in martial arts as well as well as gymnastics. anything that would make her more deadly, she was taught. her sole purpose in being born was to become a fighter. she never got to chose her own destiny.
[manipulative] - ana can be a manipulative being. she doesn't let people in on her life and so she makes up stories about where she came from and who she is. it isn't hard to fool someone when in all reality they probably don't really care who she is. she manipulates people in believing what she wants them to believe because she feels that it keeps her and them safer. some might say she is a plain old liar, but at least she does it for a good cause.
[female] - this might not seem like a strength but for ana it is. being a girl means that people don't expect her to be tough or able to handle herself. people are constantly under-estimating her which comes in handy during a fight. they don't feel that they need to go full out and that usually results in them losing. plus people don't expect girls to have some crazy secrets like she does. all in all people don't suspect her as being anything more than a twenty one year old young woman and she likes it that way. the further under the radar she can stay, the better.
[protective] - this is one young woman that will go out of her way to protect those that need it. she is extremely caring towards others that may be having a rough time at life. she knows what it is like to struggle and hates to see others doing the same. it is part of who she is to protect the weak and innocent. she was sort of trained to be that way to an extent as well. she will put herself in harms way if it means that she can save an innocent life.
[lithe] - being sneaky is her forte. she can slink into a place and then be gone before people even realize that she was there. she is slender and not super tall which makes hiding all that much easier. of course she isn't invisible and she does find herself in a jam at times. sneaking everywhere doesn't always work. when someone is specifically looking for you it can be hard to keep out of their sight.
WEAKNESSES
[/BLOCKQUOTE]
[seizures] - ana suffers from pretty intense seizures. she is on a medication for it but being in her situation makes it hard to get her hands on the medication that she needs sometimes. if she doesn't take her medication daily then she will suffer from minor seizures. the longer she goes without the medicine the more intense the seizures will get. she has been known to blackout if the seizures get too bad. they come on with a little bit of warning, but if she is the middle of a fight then she doesn't really have many options. it is a very good possibility that someday her seizures might get her killed.
[emotionally withdrawn] - this means that she doesn't connect with people very well. she has a hard time expressing any sort of intense emotions. she has what is referred to as attachment issues. because she was never treated as she should have been while she was growing up she developed the inability to attach. she pushes people away from her and won't let them in at all. people tend to see her as moody, hard to handle and depressive. not many people are willing to take the time to find out why she is the way she is and this just adds to her feelings of loneliness and desolation.
[insomnia] - sleeping is something that many people take for granted. getting a good nights sleep or being able to fall asleep are all simple things for most people. ana on the other hand has a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep. she averages about three to four hours of sleep each night. her body has gotten used to this so it does not have too much effect on her but it does start to drag a person down after a while of not getting enough rest. she will lie awake for hours trying to make herself sleep but it just won't happen. it actually drives her insane that she can't just sleep like a normal person but she has been trying her best to just cope with it and make the best of it.
[selective mutism] - somewhere down the line, ana's ability to formulate speech in certain circumstances was impaired. it happened when she was very young but the causes of it are not known to her. all she knows is that for as long as she can remember she has had a hard time speaking when she is expected to speak. in general she is able to talk like a normal person and have normal conversation, well normal for her, but there are times when she just can't talk at all. her mind can formulate the words but her voice will just not vocalize them. it is something the frustrates her because she doesn't know how to control it as well as she would like. during times when her mutism is showing itself she tends to either remove herself from the situation or try and write down her thoughts. she doesn't like writing stuff down though because then people tend to think she is strange and then the questions that she doesn't want to answer ensue.
[thrill seeker] - ana can't keep to herself. if there is something going on that peaks her interest then she has to go and check it out. usually this entails getting herself into trouble that she could have easily avoided if she hadn't been so keen to stick her nose where it didn't belong. she can't just let potentially bad things happen knowing that she might be able to stop it though and so she puts herself into situations that she should stay out of. it is practically impossible for her to just sit idly by and watch the world pass her by. she has to be a part of the action.

*being alone - even though she has a hard time socializing, she still doesn't like to be alone
*hurting others - unless it is in self defense or for a good reason. but otherwise she doesn't like watching people suffer at her hand

*being different - she just wants to be like everyone else around her and live a normal life. but that is just too much to ask
HISTORY
[/BLOCKQUOTE]
anastasia olivia petrova was born to mikelo petrova and esmeralda petrova. mikelo and esme were both researchers in a secret facility in bucharest, romania. they were hand picked due to good genes and appearances to be candidates in a breeding experiment. the idea behind this experiment was take two better than average human beings and mate them to produce a better than average offspring. this offspring could then be trained to be a soldier, better than any soldier out there. the difference between these soldiers and the normal soldiers of the world would be that these soldiers will begin training from the day they are born. being a soldier is all that they will know. anastasia was born on february sixteenth and taken from her parents that same night. she was placed with the other babies from this experiment in a nursery room. there they showed her pictures and movies and sounds associated with fighting and training.
the difference with this facility was that it was training soldiers to fight supernatural forces. this facility specialized in tactics against vampires, werewolves, witches, demons, anything that wasn't human. and the soldiers that it created were indeed humans. but it tended to experiment on their human specimens. they would inject them with chemical compounds trying to enhance strength and speed and vision. trying to make super humans. they succeeded in a sense. able to create a human, like ana, that was a little bit stronger, a little bit faster, a little bit better than the best human being out there. but there were serious flaws with their work. the subjects developed mental and even sometimes physical mutations and issues because of the drugs they were being injected with. in ana's case the experimentation that happened to her resulted in her seizures, her insomnia and her selective mutism.
her entire life revolved around working for the scientists. she was nothing more than a lab rat trapped in a cage. they tested her and the others day in and day out. tested their speed, their stamina, their ability to handle pain and their ability to heal. they wanted soldiers that wouldn't feel pain the same way that a normal human being was. they injected the subjects, the children, with drugs that would dull their nervous system responses. so when they would get hurt they wouldn't feel the pain to the same extent. of course this created some kids that just couldn't feel anything at all and some that had full nervous system shutdowns. the scientists didn't care though, when one kid died another was born to replace it. they were all expendable. as ana grew all she knew was the life in barracks with the others. all she knew was training and learning and following orders. they sent her to classes but not normal classes like other kids her age would be doing.
she learned espionage, sabotage, communication, and other things she would need in combat. she also learned languages. she is fluent in romanian, english, french, german, spanish, italian and latin. she never got the chance to learn the asian languages. she is incredibly smart and disciplined because that is all she has ever been taught to be. but when she reached the age of sixteen she just wasn't so sure about any of this anymore. once the kids turned sixteen, just as their parents had been chosen, they were chosen to. the best male and female of the age group was chosen to mate and reproduce. she was mated to a boy named aleksander. she had grown up with him. they produced a son, a son that was taken away from ana the instant he was born. the scientists were hoping that through selective breeding and some tampering with the genes and body of their subjects that through many generations they would be able to create the perfect soldier. ana was considered generation una, or generation one. her son was generation doua, generation two, and so on.
when ana was eighteen they mated her one last time because they liked how her son was turning out. she was mated back to alek and produced a daughter. same scenario, she never got to see her. after that they decided that generation una had done what it had been created to do and that it was no longer needed. because this was a secret facility the only option was to terminate all of generation una. at this point there were twenty two subjects ranging from age seventeen to eighteen that were set to be destroyed. they were all loaded onto a train and were to be sent to a remote location to disappear. on the way to the location the subjects tried to take over the train and caused it to derail. this resulted in an explosion. only three of the subjects from generation una survived. two girls and one boy. ana and alek were two of them. they made a run for it.
in the end it was better to split up because they knew that people would be looking for them. it was easier to blend in when you were by yourself. so ana headed towards the states, she has no idea where klaus and the other girl headed. ana has been roaming the united states for about two and a half years now. she gets by on odd jobs such as being a waitress, barista and even once an exotic dancer. she will do anything she has to in order to survive. but being trained to be a soldier her entire life is ingrained in her mind. no matter how hard she tries she can't stay out of trouble. she always finds herself fighting off the supernatural and other just plain evil human beings. you could say it is in her nature to do this, she was born to do it.
she loathes the scientists that created her and watched over her. she loathes the trainers that made her work every single day and she loathes the teachers that made her life a living hell. she thinks about alek and their children every single day. she wonders how her son, who would be five now, and her daughter, who would be three, are doing. she hates that they are in the hands of the scientists that ruined her life. she hopes someday to find alek again and to get her children but she knows that that is just wishful thinking. recently she has found herself in new york city and it is clear that the supernatural is abundant here as well. it seems like she is automatically drawn to cities in trouble. right now she is just trying to keep her feet on the ground, her head out of the clouds and survive. she isn't looking for trouble but you can be sure that it will find her anyway.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
i figure that she will be a good addition to any team that fights off evil. it will take some convincing for her to realize that not all supernatural beings are bad, but she isn't completely brain-washed. i think she could be a good asset and will definitely add some drama.[/BLOCKQUOTE]

new york city. the city of hopes and dreams, or so they say. really it seemed like the city of lost hope and broken dreams, but who was she to judge. it wasn't like she had seen the entire united states, maybe this really was the city of dreams. new york city was definitely not a forgiving city though, that much was completely obvious. she had been in the city for a grand total of four days and so far she had spent all four of those days trying to find a place to stay, some things to do that would earn her a little cash and some food. at twenty one she was independent but she struggled, she had always struggled and felt that she always would. nothing in this life was free and no one was going to hand things out to you. she had learned at a very young age that people don't care about anyone other than themselves. no one loved her, no one ever had. her entire life had been one big storm that had no end in sight.
she made her way through the streets of the big city. looking like everyone else in her faded blue jeans, dark blue t-shirt and black jacket with black tennis shoes. maybe she could find a job in one of the little shops or something. just enough to get by during her stay in the city. she never tended to stay in one place for too long. maybe a few months, give or take a little. the longer she stayed in one place the more likely it was that she would get caught. she had put herself as far from romania as she could at this point but still she felt that it might not be enough. ana was one of those people that went through life constantly looking over her shoulder. she felt like someone was always watching her, always following her. that was just part of living a life on the run like she had been for the last three years. her and two others like her.
as she passed an alley that she assumed was empty something caught her eye. it was a guy and he had a gun held up to a woman who was crying. so many people were just walking by, unaware of what was happening. ana turned down the alley and as she got closer hollered to the guy "Hey buddy, why don't you find someone your own size to threaten?" she asked in a mocking tone. when the guy turned his gun to her she simply smirked a little at him. he told her to freeze, stop where she was, just turn and walk away or he would kill her too. she set down her bag and then with smirking smile replied "Bring it." the guy fired his gun at her but she easily dodged the bullet and moved up beside him. "Surprise" she whispered in his ear as she punched him in the throat and then aimed a well placed knee at his groin. as she stared to crumble to the ground she let a shoe connect with his head and knock him out. she wasn't going to kill him, this time.
she looked over at the woman and nodded slowly at her "Stay out of alleys" she said lightly and then turned and grabbed her bag before walking away. she hadn't gotten more than maybe twenty steps before she started to feel shaky and queasy. she knew this feeling. she looked around to find somewhere, anywhere to duck into for a little while. somewhere that wasn't too crowded. she spotted a small shop and made her way inside. once there she found a secluded corner with a cushioned chair and sat down, pulling her knees to her chest. her body started shaking, convulsing really. she bowed her head onto her knees and tried to concentrate on breathing as the seizure racked through her body. she hoped that no one would come across her like this because she didn't want to answer any questions. she just wanted this to pass and to find some way to get her hands on the medication that she needed to control the seizures.
