It was one of those days where she was actually in the home instead of the bat cave. Granted, the large doors that had kept her "captive" were locked tight but folks could get in if they needed to. The locks were easily bypassed by team members.
She just felt the need to be around someplace a little warmer. At least till she heard people coming and then she would head for the hills. She just got scared and didn't want folks to see her. She was afraid of the talk and the whispers that might happen. Logan said she was the glue of this place but really, it could be anyone. She wasn't so stupid as to think she was super special. Wrapping herself tighter in her lavender afghan she sat on one of the couches in her sitting room with one ear out for company as she lightly dozed. She was so tired from the nightmares that she caught sleep when she could. Usually during the day so Diana had access to her if she needed to.
Not that anyone knew this of course. Wasn't like she announced it. She just knew that if Diana couldn't reach her she'd either come herself or send Trent and insist that Mari come home. She was too scared to sleep at Diana's place. She didn't want her hearing her nightmares. She was too ashamed. And she'd die of mortification if Trent heard them. She wanted to be strong and not some pathetic thing that made them look bad.

It was so totally unpleasant, annoying and yucky to just walk outside right now, having a pretty big chance of coming across some of those disgusting zombies that were still walking around. She had tried herself to just take to the streets, it wasn't like she couldn't handle a few, she was actually fighting some because that was what she and the team did too right? Her dark and elemental magic really came in handy with it after all, using it against the zombies when she came across them, fire was a good one too after all.
Claire hadn't heard yet from Wes since she'd saved his life without anyone else knowing it, she just couldn't kill him, she loved him way too much for that no matter how she tried, she'd told Everette this more than once, so in a way she never lied to him, she was just withholding the knowledge for herself, now she just didn't know if Wes would even realize it, if he would even want and/or come to see her soon, she hoped he would, otherwise she hoped that she could find him herself.
Still Claire had something else to do first, even if she might not have so long, she still wanted to go see Mari for a moment, see if there was something she could do for her to help, not that she really knew what to say... She didn't try to go look for some card or some flowers, that seemed kind of silly and besides there were no cards that even came close after all. After running into more zombies she eventually decided to just teleport herself to Mari's place and her room, she'd understand hopefully.
She still wasn't really as good in it as she hoped, but after concentrating she eventually disappeared in some light when she found a deserted spot and soon after appeared in a corner of the room Mari was in. 'Phew, I really still need to get more used to that power.' She mumbled for a moment before she turned around after shaking her head too and soon seeing Mari there on one of the couches in the sitting room. 'Hey Mari, sorry for dropping in so... Suddenly, it's kind of a mess out there, but still... I wanted to check up on you?' She asked with a slight smile as she walked closer, still clearly not really knowing what the hell she could best say to something like this with Mari.

Mari screamed, shot up from her dozing, and managed some how to get off the couch and into a corner, cowering as a bright gold glow surrounded her and she hid herself under her blanket while she shook. "Don't hurt me!" she yelped out before she realized whose voice it was. Exhaling she shivered and peeked from under the blanket, "C-Claire???" she said in a quivery voice, tentatively looking around a bit more.
She tried to convince herself to breathe. THIS was why she was terrified of going back to Diana's. She just knew if Diana snuck up on her she'd flee and kick in Diana's hunting reflexes. As she got calmed down the golden glow around her dimmed slightly. "S-s-sorry..." she said as she tried to calm herself down. She hadn't stammered since she was little and now it came out with a vengeance. "I-I've b-b-been better." she admitted as she shivered, still wrapped in her afghan.

Claire's eyes widened in surprise and a bit of shock when she heard Mari scream and saw her reaction and slowly stepped a bit more forward, letting her calm down a bit because she didn't really know what else to do. When Mari said her name she smiled softly and nodded when she saw her look her way. 'Yeah, it's just me.' She said as she kept her hands up for a moment as she walked closer.
She shook her head when Mari apologized and lowered her hands when she was close enough and slowly sat down next to her while cocking her head sideways slightly. 'It's okay, you don't have to apologize, it just spares me a lot of trouble having to do it in one go instead of more, I'm still getting the hang of it.' She admitted with a small laugh and shrugging her shoulders. 'Is there anything that I can do for you?' She asked, first wanting to know if Mari personally had something.

"It's...okay. I'm just jittery still. I have nightmares and so when I do sleep I'm not always aware of things. That's why you scared me. Its n-not your fault." she did her best to untangle herself from the afghan, "I didn't mean to...Its just hard. I'm supposed to be in charge and I'm jumping at shadows." her shoulders slumped. "I'm sorry...its just going to take time." she ran a hand over her face as her heart began to beat regularly, "I get that you wanted to get out of Zombieland. Its okay. Its just everyone keeps teleporting in on me. Could you make a chime to announce yourself for me? I know its stupid but...it might help."
She exhaled softly, "I was raised by demons. Generally if they arrived that close it meant they were going to kill you or hurt you badly. It kind of makes me jumpy and then...well its just made things worse but...I'm getting better. This time I didn't throw anything..." She said hopefully as she looked back at the other woman. Flushed and staring at the ground after a while. "I'm a mess honestly. And I can't afford to be... she said this softly. "I'm supposed to be strong but I never was, Claire." she shook her head gently.

Claire momentarily bit her lip but then made a waving gesture with her hand with a slight smile on her face while shaking her head soon enough too. 'It's okay, I totally understand what you mean, I get it.' She said with a nod because in all fairness it didn't really surprise her after what had happened to her, it would surprise her more if it hadn't fazed her at all. 'Nobody can expect you to just stay perfectly well in charge after what happened Mari, I mean seriously, if you asked me, just put someone else in charge for now, someone that you'd know would check up on you but take some of the pressure off, you need time to recover yourself, get your head back together.' Claire said as she smiled softly because she meant it in the best way possible, she just wanted Mari to not put herself lower on the list under everything else, she wanted her to put herself on top for once. When she heard the next question about a chime next time around, she laughed softly but nodded. 'I can't guarantee you yet that it'll be pretty, I have the dark and elemental magic pretty much under control, but it still messes with the minor normal magic that is SO easy to do now, most of it I just have to think off well enough and POOF, it happens.' She said with a slight laugh but shrugged her shoulders again then. 'But I'll do my best next time.' She promised.
Claire again shook her head as she carefully made her way a bit closer to Mari and cocked her head to the side again with a slight smile on her lips. 'You don't have to explain, I just got enough of those things out there for a moment, I shouldn't stay away too long, someones got to fight them while they're here... It's not like a normal human will just have much effect if they don't do it the right way, besides, I just saw a clown one out there and... It totally gave me the creeps.' She said dryly, grinning softly as she was half joking about that. 'You need to stop this Mari!' She said seriously and sharply in a bit of a strict voice then as she looked straight at her. 'You WERE strong, and you still are, you have any idea of how many people in your position, with everything that you've been through would just have... Decided to put an end to it themselves? To just quit? I was serious just now, you need to give yourself a break, stop putting all the pressure on yourself and putting yourself in the background like you're not important!' She said as she turned more toward her. 'You were the only one that really believed in me... You were the one that gave me hope when I was about to give up with Wesley, you made me realize more and more that I should think more of myself, and I did... Damn that I did...' She said as she looked away shortly, thinking of how she'd kept Wes alive, knowing damn well how angry it would most likely make Everette once he found out. 'Now stop beating yourself up over something that you can't be more stronger in than you already are... Just breathe, give yourself some time for God's sake.'

Listening, she pushed a strand of dark brown hair behind her ear, "I see what you are getting at, Claire but the work keeps me busy. I really...don't want to be left with my own thoughts for too long. If you know what I mean. I need to be an active person or I get depressed. It gives me a reason to get up in the mornings and get dressed." she explained as she sighed, "I will name a back up leader though as soon as I clear it with Michael." she nodded.
"I appreciate it." she nodded as she looked Claire in the eyes, "You be careful. I think if I had to deal with that I'd probably bring a hospital mask and spiked bat to the party." she joked back weakly to the other woman. She had gotten out of the habit of talking to much of anyone and it was odd to have a conversation again but still, she was trying.
She exhaled quietly, "It was easy to believe in you, Claire. You're a good person. You have helped a lot of people." she looked at her and smiled weakly, "I'm not going to go THAT far its just...there is something big getting ready to happen. I can't explain it. Its just a feeling that I don't have time to feel sorry for myself. I know its silly and stupid but I can't shake it." she massaged her temples lightly, "I just feel...strange in my own body. Its probably my PTSD trying to disassociate so I don't panic but...its like something is trying to tell me something. Like I've forgotten something. It doesn't make sense, I know." she let her hand drop and sighed. "I've been trying to focus on it to figure it out. Figure me out."
