Trenton stalked the side street silently in full vampire face. He could hear and smell his prey as they ran down the street. They were frightened and breathing hard---something that had always excited him. He growled, honing in on the sound of the person's running footsteps. Ready or not...here I come, he thought, as a sadistic grin crossed his features. Using his vampiric speed, he chased after the girl he had been stalking and then materialized right in front of her. She started to scream, but he grabbed her and bit into her neck, cutting the cry off. Blood dripped down her neck as he continued to drain the girl, relishing in the taste of her rich blood.

los angeles. city of angels, yeah right. this was more like the city of evil and demons. of course most cities were it seemed. it didn't matter where you were in the world, there was evil. there was good too though and ana liked to think that she was good. she had been created by something evil, but that didn't make her evil. tonight she was doing what she did every night. she was patrolling the streets. she was setting up in new york right now but had ventured to los angeles for a change of scenery. she didn't like to be in one place too long, it made her uncomfortable. she felt like she was looking over her shoulder more the longer she stayed in a city. she wore her usual style of dark wash jeans, a black t-shirt and a black jacket, with black tennis shoes. it kept her from standing out, kept the attention off of her. her long dark hair was down to hide her face from people that might be looking for her.
as she was walking along she heard a scream, a cut off scream. her mind told her vampire. she slunk down the alleyway and saw what she was looking for. two people, one male and one female. the female was the victim and the male was obviously the attacker. her training told her that easily. she cleared her throat loudly so that the male would know she was there and then she waited. she didn't want to come right out and say who she was or what she was. she would just see what this vampire would do first.

Hearing the clearing of a throat, Trenton looked up from his meal, a warning in his eyes. Who would be stupid enough to interrupt a vampire while they were feeding? He stared at the woman in front of him. She wasn't terribly tall, but her stance told him not to underestimate her. And he had to admit, she was attractive enough for a human. But that didn't matter. What mattered was that he had satiating himself when he had been interrupted. He could never understand why someone would be so rude. After all, one would not like it if they were interrupted at a dinner table.
Once he was finally full, he dumped the girl on the ground. "Who are you?" he asked, trying to gauge whether or not he was about to be in a fight.

the vampire stopped his feeding and turned his gaze to her. to say that he looked unfriendly was definitely an understatement. he looked pissed and irritated that she had interrupted his meal. granted it had been rude of her to interrupt his dinner but hey, he was eating a human being and that just wasn't the same as eating at a diner. he then asked her who she was as he dumped the body of the girl onto the ground. ana didn't know whether the girl was dead or barely clinging to life.
"Sorry, but I don't give my name to strangers. You might be a crazy stalker or something" she replied casually. ahh sarcasm, where had she learned it anyway? maybe she had just been born with it. she had been like this ever since she could remember. it was one of her qualities, or annoyances depending on how you looked at it. "But seeing as you are vampire you must know that I am human. So how about I refer to you as vampire and you refer to me as human, for now at least" she added. she was calculating whether he would attack her or not. he didn't know what she was yet, that she was a hunter. well he might, but he would just be guessing. she also wondered if vampires could smell that she was different, not exactly human. her mixed up genes and dna might give her a different smell, she didn't know. "Is she dead?" ana asked nodding towards the body on the ground.

When the woman answered sarcastically, stating that they'd just call each other human and vampire for the time being and that she didn't give out her name to just anybody, Trenton smirked. "Well, you are smarter than most people in this city, I will give you that," he commented. When she told him that being a vampire, he could probably sense that she was human, he shrugged. The truth was, her scent was a bit...off. It did not smell human, but at the same time, it did not smell supernatural. He could not explain it and he was not about to admit that to her.
At the question of whether or not his victim was still alive, Trent shrugged. Oh, he could hear her heartbeat, but he was not about to let this woman know that he had been careful not to actually kill her. After all, feeding was not always about the kill. Sometimes, it was just about quenching one's appetite. "I do not know, and nor do I care. I was hungry, and now I am not. That is all that matters," he replied. "Normally, I would advise you not to be out by yourself, but I have a feeling that you are quite capable of taking care of yourself," he continued.

ana shifted her stance into once that was less defensive, not that she couldn't step right into the defense mode with a moments notice. the vampire didn't seem too intent on wanting to kill her since he had just fed on the girl who was now laying either dead or just unconscious near his feet. "Wow, was I just complimented" ana replied in a fake surprised tone. "I guess I do have to agree that in general, the human populous is not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed" she added with a small shrug. people could be dumb. it was more that people tried to pretend that the horrible things going on around them weren't really happening. they could easily see that things were not normal in this city and yet they pretended that they were. denial was a beautiful thing she supposed.
the vampire answered her question in a way that she had expected. she hadn't really thought he was going to tell her whether the girl was alive or dead. as far as ana was concerned she would merely wait for him to leave and then she would check the body herself. if the girl was still alive then ana would take her to the nearest hospital. it was the least she could do. she should kill this vampire but she was sensing that this vampire wasn't one that would be easily killed and she wanted to know more about her foe before starting a brawl with him that could end badly for her. always know your enemy. "You know, it is funny, I tell people that same thing. I swear people just dilly dally during the night and pretend that nothing is going to hurt them. But me, I like the night, probably my favorite time of the entire day" she replied. of course she could handle herself. "What's the point of being afraid of the things that go bump in the night when I could face them head on instead?" she added with a small smirk.

Trenton watched the girl warily as she dropped her defensive stance, though she still looked ready to spring into action at a moment's notice. Well, she certainly keeps herself on guard. That is to be commended, Trenton thought to himself. Perhaps he would not attack her this night.
He smirked at her sarcastic question of whether or not she had been complimented before going on to agree with him that other humans did not seem to be very smart.
Trenton nodded in agreement when the girl went on to complain that people always "dilly-dallied" at night time, not even admitting that there was something there that could hurt them. He listened intently as she went on to say that she actually enjoyed the night and asked what was the point of being afraid when she could just take things head on? "A noble attitude. But one that could get you into trouble. I must warn you to be careful," Trenton told her. I must speak with Diana. It would appear that we have a new huntress in town, he thought to himself. Then, he turned and walked away without even a second glance at the girl who had been his dinner.
