Mike walked up to Marina's home and knocked. "Miss Sinclaire? Are you in here?" he asked. He hadn't gotten a chance until now to check up on her since her father had attacked her. He didn't have all of the details, but whispers in the Supernatural community was that Reginald had been killed by a couple of vampires. Though, with what he knew of the man, Reginald's death wasn't that great a loss. But as an officer, he couldn't exactly say that. Didn't mean that he didn't feel that way though. He let out a scoff. If anyone could see into his head right now, they'd be shocked. Anyone who knew him knew that he had a strong moral compass. But when it came to stuff like what had happened to Marina, his "give a dang" meter for the other person just busted. He knocked again, waiting for someone to come to the door.

Alfred came to the door with his usual martinet like step as he peered through the peep hole to see who was visiting this time. After that Blake fellow he wasn't going to leave Marina to answer the door alone any more. Seeing Mike he opened the door, "Miss Sinclaire will be along shortly, Detective. Please, have a seat. Would you like some tea?" the British butler asked kindly as a matronly woman came up to drop off a tea service and Marina came into view.
"Detective, Corbett, its good to see you." Marina said as she slowly made her way into the room. She was still a bit pale from the donation she gave Trenton and she was subdued but otherwise appeared fine. She was dressed more modestly, her clothing tending towards darker colors and covering her wrists and ankles as if she was still skittish of showing off too much skin, "How have you been? No bad after effects I trust from the injuries you got last month?" she asked him as she looked at him with a soft smile before taking a seat and taking the cup of tea that was offered to her by Alfred.

Mike nodded to the butler---what was his name? He couldn't remember---and then followed the man inside and sat down where he had indicated. "Uh, no thank you. This isn't a social visit and I won't be staying long," he replied, giving the two a small smile.
When Marina came in, Mike furrowed his brows in concern at her pale appearance. "Is everything all right? You look really pale," he commented. I don't think I've ever seen someone look like that, not even when letting a vampire feed from them, he thought to himself as he perused her attire with a cop's eye. She was dressed modestly, showing as little skin as possible. However, he had enough manners not to mention that.
"It's good to see you too, Miss Sinclair," Mike responded. He then chuckled a bit at the mention of his close call with the werewolf the previous month. "No. I'm still completely human," he assured. "But how about you?" he queried, bringing the topic back to the reason for his visit. "How are you holding up after everything that's happened?"

Alfred nodded and once Marina had been served he and his assistant made themselves scarce, "I'm alright. Trenton fed a little and it always makes me a bit woozy. Given what happened...he's been a bit...on edge." she admitted softly as she regarded the dark haired man across from her. "I'm glad you're alright. Not that I have anything against werewolves, but the transformation is not an easy one and I'd rather save you the pain of that." she added as she set her cup down and folded her hands in front of her lap.
She bit her lip and ducked her head, "I'm alright. I was lucky I had good doctors. I was told it was pretty touch and go a bit there but I guess I'm stubborn and knowing a healer helped my odds of survival. Other than that...I have my good days and bad." the kitten Trent gave her wandered in and she smiled softly when it jumped in her lap, "Trent gave me Sophie here to keep me company. She helps...and I have friends that are staying here to keep an eye on me. My friend Logan, the healer and my cousin Cruise. "
"I've just been...trying to slowly get back to normal and see where I fit in." she said softly as she brushed her short curly hair out of her eyes.

Mike nodded in understanding when Marina said that Trenton had fed and it always left her woozy. "Yeah, I can understand that feeling. Which is usually why if I'm letting someone feed from me I have something with sugar in it, like a candy bar or something," he said. It was something he had picked up as a teen and always kept him from getting dizzy afterwards. "I'm not surprised. Vampires can get territorial...maybe even more so than werewolves," he commented.
Then, he chuckled when she tried to backpedal her comment about being glad that he wasn't a werewolf. "Oh, don't worry about it. I know what you mean," he assured. He then nodded as she answered his question. He couldn't even begin to imagine what she had been through and personally, he didn't want to. "Well, if there's ever anything i can do for you, let me know," he told her. He was about to say more when a kitten walked in and jumped into Marina's lap. When did she get a kitten? he wondered.
Mike had to fight to keep his eyes from widening when he heard that Trent had given Marina the animal. Granted, he had only met the vampire once, but Mike had gotten the impression that he was more sadistic in nature. Then again, so was Jesse usually, he reminded himself. He nodded in approval when he learned that she had friends staying with her. "That's good to know. I was a a bit concerned that you were all alone," he admitted. "Well, I won't keep you any longer, Miss Sinclair," he began, standing up. "Like i said, if you need anything, let me know. I'm sure you have contacts who can find me or I can leave my personal number with you," he finished.

"Well it doesn't help that he's the co-Elder in town." she said softly as she looked up at him, "It makes him more territorial than most. I tried to reassure him but he's hard to convince sometimes." she admitted "He made me a sandwich." She was hoping it wouldn't ruin Trent's street cred to know that but she didn't want him to come across as all bad.
"I did look at the file I was given and I think that if the investigators could perhaps pry up the floorboards on the left side of the bed they may find the murder weapon that killed that Jane Doe last week. The fingerprints should be in your database. At least that was the impression I got." she added as she thought and walked over to a bookcase before pulling a file down and passing it to him. "She said her name was Nancy Idlebloom." she added after a moment of thought.
"Just keep bringing the case files. They keep me busy. I mean I know I probably should be taking a break but the ghosts don't get the concept of that too well." she admitted shyly. "My friends didn't want me dealing with people by myself. I think they've scared off a few fortune hunters already. That's why Alfred has been getting the door." she admitted softly, "I appreciate your help. I'm sorry if I sound distant...I'm just trying to get used to things again." she said gently with a wan smile.

Mike nodded as Marina stated that Trenton was more protective because he was a co-Elder. That makes sense. He'd want to make sure that she was protected no matter the cost he thought to himself. He let out a small laugh when she went on to say that she had tried to reassure him, but that he was sometimes hard to convince. "I think all vampires are in a way," he said. "That was nice of him," he commented in response to her mentioning that the vampire had made her a sandwich.
He was almost to the door when she reminded him of a file that she had been previously given. "The floorboards. Of course. It'd be easy to hide the weapon there if the killer had to leave in a hurry," he mused and then frowned when he heard the name as he took the file from her: Nancy Idlebloom...he'd have to check it out. Well, it was good to know that her fingerprints would be in the database...which one, though, was the real question. His partners didn't know it but he had compiled a database of all the Supernatural creatures in Los Angeles and had added it to the files he had made when he lived in New York.
Mike nodded in agreement when Marina requested that he keep bringing files by and that ghosts didn't seem to know the concept of taking a break. "Will do. But if you ever really need a break, let me know. And if you want, I can do some digging to see if there's a way to diminish your connection to random ghosts," he requested. He then frowned when she mentioned fortune hunters. "If you have any further problems, send for me. I'll see what I can do," he said.

She nodded and chuckled, "That they are. They thrive on being mysterious." She relaxed as she watched him take the file back and she talked shoppe with him, "I'll be okay. I'm used to it." she assured him as she walked with him to the door, "I appreciate it, Mike. My ex boyfriend, Philip Ravid keeps coming in and out of town. He's a werewolf so you might want to be a bit careful." she added as a precaution. She never knew who Philip was going to get jealous of. "One of these days he and Trent are going to come to blows." she muttered as she stood by the door and spoke with him.

Mike nodded in agreement when Marina stated that all vampires thrived on being mysterious. That they did. Of course, some didn't even have to try to be mysterious, it just exuded from them.
Mike frowned when Marina mentioned that her ex-boyfriend---a man named Philip Ravid---kept coming in and out of town and that he was a werewolf so the cop should be careful. "Has he been bothering you and is this something that would need human interference or is it best left to the Supernatural world?" he asked in concern. Then, he let out a smile when she said that one day he and Trenton would have it out. "Well, when it comes down to vampire or werewolf, I go vampire all the way," he told her. Then, he nodded politely and walked out the door.

"I think Trent can handle it. I just figured I'd let you know in case you ran into him. Philip's a bit of a charmer." she admitted as she looked over at Mike, "But he's abusive as all get out. Tries blaming his nature for it. Just be careful."
Laughing softly, she held the door open, "Drive safe, Mike. Its good to see you." she added as she gently closed the door behind him and went back to her rooms. Her steps soft as she made her way through the house.

Mike nodded in compliance when Marina stated that she felt Trenton could handle her ex and had only mentioned it in case the detective ran into him. When Marina went on to say that Phillip was a charmer and abusive, Mike frowned and filed the information away mentally. Apparently, he'd have to look this guy up. As a cop---and from personal experience---he knew that abusers had a tendency of holding on to someone that they deemed theirs. "Well, like I said, if you need me, come find me," Mike said out loud. "It was good to see you too," he said and then went out the door, went to where he parked his car, got in, started the engine and drove off.
