Why was he even here?
He sighed, getting out of his car and leaving it parked next to another car, before walking off of the road and onto the pavement, glancing around at the surroundings. It was weird being here in New York. Sure, he had done jobs and that outside of Los Angeles, but it was just strange being away from his Everette again. It was just too much to deal with at the moment, and it was bad timing on Lily's part. They had just lost their brother, and had all of these memories of a life they never remembered living appear in their memory. Add to that, and their youngest brother Axel was killed, and Xzavier was continually beating himself up for letting it happen and not being there to protect him like an older brother should. He did feel shit for leaving Everette there, but he knew he had a lot of good friends and would be able to get through this. He was strong, stronger than he was anyway. There was no point Xzavier bringing Everette down with his own guilt and issues.
Maybe it was a good thing to catch a break and come here, even if it was to see Lily. He didn't understand why she called him here. She said there was some kind of important information that she just couldn't reveal over the phone. If it was another way to lure him in to attack him or just to try and push those barriers again, he wouldn't be having any of that shit. He travelled three thousand miles to come here to find out what she couldn't just tell him over the phone to make it simpler. It had better be worth his time, or he would be pretty pissed. Now wasn't the time for him to be dragged around and played with.
He begun walking down the street, glancing at the map on his phone as he finally located the coffee shop they were going to be meeting to discuss this. He walked in, noticing it was quiet, which was probably good. If it was personal, he didn't need every person in New York hearing about it, especially when it comes to what Lily actually knew about them, since Everette opened his big mouth. He sat at one of the tables, looking around but not seeing Lily. He sighed, leaning back as he ordered a coffee with the cute waitress who came to his table.

She came into the shoppe moments behind him. Though in order not to crowd him she got in line and ordered a latte. Paying the barista she took the large drink over to a table and sat down. She didn't really want to drink that much coffee but she needed something to do during the awkward phase of the conversation, which was most of it nowadays. She set her briefcase next to her and flagged him over. Once he had sat down and was as comfortable as could be she smiled a bit sheepishly, "Hey there. Look first off, I wanted to say I'm sorry for being a bitch. It was really a rotten thing to do to you and I get it if you're pissed at me but I wanted to say it before anything else." she exhaled and took a swig of her drink, "The company I work for is still keeping tabs on you, Xzavier." she opened her briefcase and pulled out a folder, "These are some records I copied. I mean I know things have been hard between us but I still care for you guys and don't want you getting hurt. This...worries me." she exhaled.
"I know you can tell me to get lost and its none of my damn business and you'd be totally within rights to do that, Xzavier but I thought this was important. I wouldn't call unless it was important." she said the last softly, gripping her napkin in her hands nervously and shredding it into tiny bits which is what she usually did when she was freaked out. Blushing she stopped herself and picked up her cup, taking a sip of the brew and looking at him over the brim of the cup.

She soon arrived, and he watcher her carefully as she begun to speak. He had to admit, it took him by suprise that she was apologising, especially after the way she had reacted on their previous encounter together. He nodded softly, looking down at the mug of coffee before him as he gripped it more tightly, just to ease the awkwardness of this conversation. "All good," he added, looking up at Lily for a moment, before leaning back in his chair and focusing on what she was going to say next. He listened to the words, but flicked his eyebrow up at her comment about them still keeping tabs on him. "Well, I'm pretty popular wherever I go, what can I say? You just tell them to stay the hell out of my way and don't get involved in my personal business or with my family and friends, and we have no problem." He continued staring at Lily firmly. Maybe it was blunt, but he wasn't just going to sit back and let some company monitor him. He had endured that enough with the whole Hart Enterprises garbage, and definantly didn't need a reminder of that.
He eyed the documents as she pulled them out of the folder. He couldn't deny, he was interested in what was inside them. But it still didn't stop the annoyance that something this important had come up, and he couldn't possibly see what it could be which couldn't have just been spoken over the phone. Hell even an email, at least then it wouldn't have been so awkward for the two of them. But they were here now, and he had to deal with that and whatever it was that Lily was about to throw at him. He smirked softly as she finished speaking. "Glad to see you care so much about us, that you went and worked for the one company who is apparently spying on us. I hope it was worth it, I really do. Heck, if Hart Enterprises hadn't of been under zombie invasion, maybe you could've got a job there working as Ariel's 'number one' or something." He looked at the waitress as she walked past, hoping she hadn't heard anything, before turning back to Lily. Once again, harsh, but what could he say, it had to be said.
He nodded and leant back in his chair again as she spoke of the importance of the documents contained in the folder. "What is it? I just can't see what can me so important that you asked me to come all the way here, especially with everything going on...Leaving Everette after we have been through so much..." He trailed off, pausing as he recollected himself. It was taking a toll on him. He wouldn't admit it, but it really was hard right now. And he wasn't even sure he knew how to control the situation.

She bit her lip and looked down as she crossed her legs and squirmed as he let loose on her. She supposed she deserved it but it was a two way street. "I can't tell them anything. I'm a low man on the totem pole. I got hired as a hunter of vampires, wherewolves and supernatural predators. I'm not paid to voice my opinion I'm paid to kill things." she said quietly as she gripped the table, "Something you have been doing for a long time but didn't bother to tell me. I'll just make sure to stay out of your way." she was honest as she looked over at him and raised an eyebrow.
"Well I didn't expect to find you had a file there, Xzavier. Hell I didn't know I'd be killing werewolves, demons and vampires when I took the job. So you may not like it but its making a difference. Besides, if I wasn't there you wouldn't know that your activities were being monitored and that they have your genetic makeup in their records. I don't know what they are planning but I've seen some records that are...suspect. There are notes in here about failed subjects and rejection of injections...if I had to guess I would say they are trying to build the perfect fighter using your genetics and those of others." she leaned back and sipped her coffee, "And Ariel showed up in New York. Evidently they hired the bitch." she did not look happy at all this and pushed the file closer to him.
"I'm sorry I didn't babble it into a telephone or skype it but I kinda thought it was a little illegal for me to steal files. I mean I'm sure you don't want to get the call that I'm in jail for trying to protect you." she snorted and looked exhausted, "Or maybe you would. I mean shit I don't even know whats going on with you any more. If you'd been honest from the start we wouldn't have a problem. But I suppose then I wouldn't know about this and you'd end up getting hit with it without any warning." she rose and closed her briefcase, "I get what you're trying to do Xzavier I really do. Now if you'll excuse me I've got to research my next target before I go out tonight."

He listened as she spoke, not really understanding where she was getting at. She wasn't able to speak up where she worked, but she was able to steal files and access these kind of files? Didn't you need some sort of clearence for this? He wasn't sure, but it all seemed a little strange. Lily was busting his balls the past few months and now suddenly was pro-helping him out? It didn't make much sense at all. Maybe it was because she knew the truth now, or maybe she just had a change of heart, he didn't know. But what he did know that although he felt like he could trust Lily, he wasn't going to rest all of his faith or trust in her when he didn't know her true motives not only in calling him here, but in working for that company that they knew nothing about.
She sounded so confident about what she was saying, about hunting. "Shit. Maybe I should get a job there, then I'll actually get paid for risking my life and the lives of others on a day-to-day basis. Look, I don't do this to pay my bills or get kicks, I do this because it is in my blood and it was asked of me. I don't like doing it, but I do it anyway because I have to. Because there is no one else out there like me or my bro..." He paused softly, sighing to himself. "Everette...So I do what I can. I don't know what you are getting out of this though." He didn't even understand the motives behind sending Lily out to kill these things either. Why would they want to kill evil supernatural creatures, when they seemed to be the bad guys themselves? There were definantly things he wasn't understanding about this entire situation and the company himself. And he didn't think Lily would be the right one to answer those questions.
When she spoke about her suspicions, he wasn't liking the direction this company was going in, but it was making sense now. They were experimenting on these supernaturals, thats as far as he knew. What else? Who knows how extreme this company is going to get what they want, they could even be using his DNA or what not to do so as well. He took another sip of the coffee. But as she asked what was going on with him, he just couldn't stay quiet any longer. "Whats going on with me? Where do I start, huh? My brother is dead because I couldn't save him, people are dying all around me and there is nothing I can do. You've gone all rogue hunter when that was the one thing I was trying to protect you from in the beginning. Things are falling apart, if it isn't that obvious already." He sighed again, gripping the coffee mug more firmly, before it smashed, coffee going over the table. He looked up at Lily as she was about to leave, and he stood up. "And thats it? Your just going to dump these files on me without any explanation and just walk out? Glad to see your finding your work so seriously at that place, Lily. I hope it works out for you there, give me a call when they want me to come in for their testing." He walked past her, glancing at her for a moment, before walking out of the coffee shop, slamming the door behind him. He got into his car, and started the engine, some music turning on as he begun glancing over the documents. But what he saw caused his eyes to widen and his hands to grip the paper more tightly. What he was reading was a biography of a man. He turned the page, not understanding why this was in here, but he recieved an answer. This was his half brother.

She watched his shoulders tense as he ripped out with his motives and justifications. She'd struck a nerve, big surprise there. He'd hit a few of hers. Sighing softly "I'm getting the chance to understand you and give something back. Because as much as you don't want to hear it I still care about you. Do you think I'd have been so pissed off if I didn't care about you in the first place?" she massaged her temples softly and looked back at him, "I worry about you AND your brother. I'm not good at saying it right now but its true. There are things in that file you need to know about and work out between you and your family, important things, things that aren't my business. And while I am sorry I went snooping I am not sorry that I found something that will hopefully help you."
"What happened to Axel wasn't your fault. You shouldn't blame yourself for that. You always take too much on your shoulders Xzavier." she stood there and looked at him, "You can't protect me from something if I don't know about it and I want to make a difference in this world. Its not like I have anyone to go home to Xzavier or a family. I might as well be the one pushing the darkness back because if I die then it doesn't hurt as many people. Not that I want to die mind you but it makes the most sense to send someone with no connections to do the dirty work rather than someone with family."
"I'm giving you time to process that file and so I don't start crying you stupid asshole." she ripped out then ducked her head as she ran out of the coffee house in tears. She was so mad it hurt like a knife wound. She really didn't know if hunting was a good idea or not tonight. She was angry, depressed and fatalistic. It would serve him right if she did die doing something good for the world that sanctimonious prick. She just didn't know how to tell him what was there when it wasn't her business. Wiping her tears she sped past his car at breakneck speed as he sat and read the file not wanting to deal with his bullshit any more.
