She was practicing one of her own pieces for class when she noticed the light was streaming through the window and letting her know sunset was near. She sighed softly and bit her lip. It reminded her of Connor and she shoved the thought aside with force. No more thoughts about him or she would go mad from the loneliness and guilt that someone had done what she should have. Stepping up to the mike she waited for the music to start and began to sing. Her voice soft as she hit the notes and rich as chocolate. She wore a yellow floral dress and delicate pumps to try and boost her mood but it seemed like she was going to have to sing her troubles out. Slow Me Down
by Emmy Rossum
Rushing and racing and running in circles Moving so fast I'm forgetting my purpose Blur of the traffic is sending me spinning Getting nowhere
My head and my heart are colliding - chaotic Pace of the world - I just wish I could stop it Try to appear like I've got it together I'm falling apart
Save me Somebody take my hand And lead me Slow me down Don't let love pass me by Just show me how Cause I'm ready to fall Slow me down
Don't let me live a lie Before my life flies by I need you to slow me down
Sometimes I fear that I might disappear In the blur of fast-forward I falter again Forgetting to breathe, I need to sleep I'm getting nowhere
All that I've missed I see in the reflection Passed me while I wasn't paying attention Tired of rushing, racing and running I'm falling apart
Tell me Oh won't you take my hand And lead me Slow me down
Don't let love pass me by Just show me how Cause I'm ready to fall Slow me down
Don't let me live a lie Before my life flies by I need you to slow me down Just show me I need you to slow me down
The noise of the world is getting me caught up Chasing the clock and I wish I could stop it Just need to breathe, somebody please Slow me down [/i]

Philip was standing in the back of the Drama/Music classroom with his arms crossed in front of his chest and his back leaning against the wall behind him. He was pretty much in his own thoughts when the music had started and eventually he looked up at who was singing, which made him tilt his head a bit to the side. Listening to music like this, but also finding someone else that he could momentarily spend some attention on and seeing how it went, was the perfect way of trying to forget about Mari and the conversation he had had with her, at least for now.
He kept standing there, letting her finish the song that she was doing, which was obviously one of her own, but that was also something that only made it better. Once she finished he started clapping in his hands with a smile on his face as he stepped away from the wall and more into the light so she could see him, but not saying anything, curious to how she would react to both that and the clapping itself first, then he could just do his best to play in on that. Sizing her up in a way in the meantime as subtle as possible.

Finishing her song Merry stepped out of the glare of the kleg lights and looked out to see who was there. Smiling softly she curtsied and looked over at Philip, "Thank you, Sir. Do I know you? You look familiar..." she murmured as she moved closer to get the spotlight out of her eyes. Any affictionado of theatre would recognize him and she smiled when she recalled what he had done.
"You are very kind Mr. Ravid." she said softly as she stepped off the stage to come down to his level. She certainly knew better than to put on aires or be rude. "My name is Merry." she said gently as she stood there and folded her hands in front of her politely as she had been taught to do.

Philip kept his eyes on Merry when she stepped out of the spotlight and came walking closer to him as she thanked him and then asked him if she knew him because he looked familiar. He smirked calmly and cocked his head to the side while looking at her, seeing as he kind of had an idea that she would recognize him soon enough if she had paid enough attention on theater and music alike. He didn't think he was the greatest, but he was quite sure that if you actually put some effort into it, you'd at least know who he was.
When she said he was very kind and called his name, Philip smiled and kept his head cocked to the side for now while looking at her and nodding for a moment. 'I can be a lot nicer when I want to than just this, this was actually just an honest compliment of how it sounded to me.' He said with a charming and friendly smile at the same time and when she was down to his level and she heard and saw how she politely introduced herself as Merry, he kept smiling and nodded before softly grabbing her hand and giving a light kiss on it before laughing softly as he looked at her the entire time. 'It's pretty clear that you know how to properly present yourself, it's been a while since I met a actual beautiful lady like yourself.' He said softly even though it wasn't entirely true with how his mindset was with Marina and everything after all.

She could tell he was waiting to see if she recognized him and inwardly she laughed at herself. Here she was acting like a fan girl. She had to get it together. He was no different than any of her father's clients and she knew plenty of them. Best course was to keep things light and casual. His comments were filled with innuendo but she supposed it might be part of that exterior that many gave off to keep the mystery going about themselves.
"I'm sure you can be, Mr. Ravid. But I wouldn't want to impose on you in such a fashion. Its a pleasure to meet you. I'm glad you liked the song. I'm getting ready to release an album soon so I hope its as well received as yours was." she said with warmth in her voice as she stood straight and watched his moments, the kiss on the hand did make her blush a bit but she felt a bit of sadness too. Connor used to say nice things like that. "Oh I'm sure you've met plenty of beautiful actresses." she said as she smiled a bit sadly at him and shifted slightly, moving to take a chair in the auditorium while she spoke with him.
"So, did you decide you wanted back in the hustle and bustle of L.A. or are you trying to enjoy life as a mild mannered professor?" she raised an eyebrow and viewed him with curiosity. She wondered what he would say. The rumors flying about him on his fan sites was quite fanciful and it was nice to see what he himself thought.

Summary Merry and Philip continue to talk amiably about music and shows, all the while Philip is making her blush profusely with his charm. He notices her sadness and asks after it and she remarks that her boyfriend recently died and she is still grieving his loss. Philip offers some comforting words to her and she accepts them but before much more can happen the bell rings and a class shuffles in. Merry leaves the classroom bidding goodbye to Philip who watches after her. He plans on meeting her again "accidentally" even though he tells her nothing of this, keeping her as an option as he tends to do.
