Thread Summary: Rodney wakes up from his unconsciousness and Marina is sitting by the bed holding his hand. They really aren't speaking because they aren't exactly sure what to say exactly. There has been so much that has taken place not only in the past 48 hrs, but also ever since they started seeing each other. But the silence can only last so long before it becomes unbearable and someone has to say something. The funny thing is, they both begin to speak at the same time as if they are both thinking about the same thing.
After this awkward moment, Marina continues telling him that she loves him, but they both have some healing to do, and the best way for them to do that is to be away from each other for a while. Seeing the tears in her eyes makes it harder, but Rodney nods and agrees with her because he had already come to that conclusion. He had witnessed quite a lot of things not to mention he was willing to kill a man. He needs to figure things out. Same with Marina. She also has gone through quite a lot. Just as things were about to get better for her, Marina's father kidnapped her, raped her, and left her broke her down yet again emotionally and physically. She too needs to figure things out for herself.
Rodney squeezes her hand and tells her that he loves her and wont be gone forever but wants her to know that he doesn't expect her to wait for him. They agree that this is the best thing for the both of them. They also agree that it is best that they not stay in touch for the time being in order to work through things on their own.
Rodney sits up and pulls her close to him hugging her tightly. After what seems like forever, he pulls away kissing a teary eyed Marina. This is probably one of the hardest decisions for both of them, but it must be done. |
