Shane was no secret spy who knew how to sneak his way past things by any means, but he wasn’t stupid either and knew that if he was going to break Cassie Oliver out of this hell hole successfully, he should probably make sure to get rid of all the cameras that could potentially trace him back to being the one to kidnap her. Hence the reason Shane had spent hours just surveying the hospital and the psych ward quarters of the hospital to create a plan which was really not like him at all. When it came to tactics….well Shane didn’t really have any. He just sort of spontaneously did things, but this situation was different than the usual situations. So important that he had taken out all 8 cameras that were on the way to Cassie’s room. For the first time in a long time, he cared about something because he actually had a plan for once. A plan that could change things for him greatly. For 87 years, he had been here on earth in hiding knowing that Mal was looking for him to execute him for his dishonesty and disobedience back in Andromida. He had to leave Lena behind because of it. But he was sick of it. There was only so much he could do in hiding before living just got boring which began his strive to go back to Andromida and kill Mal, so he would no longer have to hide like a coward. But how do you defeat a Baccrum Lord? You become better than him. And the only way Shane felt that that was possible was to be imbued with the knowledge and experience to cast all 284 baccrum spells. Shane had no idea how that was possible, but the abilities that he had come across here on earth had to be used for something. He was almost positive one of the abilities he’d found would help him receive those 284 spells. And his first hopeful subject? Cassie Oliver who he known right from the start when he had first run into her here in LA that she had growing powers. He had seen her around occasionally chasing after that cop guy. Now she was in the psych ward because those powers had finally surfaced and literally were making her crazy. But that was what happened when the power a person had was too strong for a human vessel. So the plan was to get her out of here tonight and try to get her in a stable state to see if her abilities could actually aid him in his scheme against Mal.
But if he did want this plan to work, he had to move fast. The night shift nurse would be making her rounds soon, and Shane had to get Cassie out way before that happened. He just hoped Cassie wouldn’t be a handful, but she was crazy, so he really didn’t know what to expect. Shane peered around the corner to make sure coast was clear. Her room was half way down that same hallway on the left. He had already charmed the night nurse into giving up her keys. Okay she didn’t literally hand them to him, but he snuck them away from her while she was flirting with him. He always had a way of getting what he wanted. Most of the things he wanted were nothing a little sweet talk couldn’t get.
When he was finally sure that no one was going to be coming into that hallway any time soon, Shane quickly made his way over to Cassie’s room. He fidgeted with the keys trying to find the key for room 542. After flipping the keys around multiple times, he was finally able to the correct key, jam in into the door, and unlock it. Shane inhaled deeply and let it out slowly preparing himself for the worst possibly scenario to this whole break out. He turned the door and slowly pushed it open. The room was very dark, and he was unable to see anything really. He was going to have to rely on his keen hearing to guide him through this tonight. Shane stepped into the room still taking it very slowly. She was indeed in the room, and he tried to focus on her breathing to see if she was sleeping or not. Her breathing was very shallow indicating that she was in fact sleeping. He carefully inched his way towards where he could hear her breathing until he knew she was right in front of him on the bed that they had given her.
Now that he was here, he didn’t waste any time at all. With a swift movement he threw his hand down covering her mouth, maybe not the best move when creeping up on a psycho chick, but he had to make sure he could muffle any sounds that she would make. ”Cassie, it’s me. It's Shane.”

Cassie found herself, dreaming, dreaming of clouds, wondering clouds with Darryl, the one and only Darryl, she dreamed they were going to lay down, look up at the sunlight as she felt her body afloat, in the air, in the clouds, like soft cushions you could barely feel them. She could see Darryl next to her, she looked down to hold his hand, she wanted to so badly she wanted to feel his touch and in her dream, as she went to hold his hand, her hand just passed through it, she was shocked, surprised as she suddenly opened her eyes and all she could see was the roof and next to her nothing, not even the chair, it was until ten seconds later she realized, she was floating, in thin air, this shocked her as she suddenly fell in her bed. She was shocked, she was scared, she had no idea what to do.
But she just stared at the roof again, looked at it, before her eyes suddenly closed and she was once again in deep slumber. Cassie’s memory or anything between this was lost, she wasn’t dreaming, she was just asleep until she was suddenly awakened and her mouth was covered. This scared her immensely as she grew worried and she could feel whatever was inside her building up. Her chair next to her bed started to shake as did the bars outside her window, actually everything in the room was suddenly shaking because of her current scared state. She had no idea who was behind her or who suddenly had their hand covering her mouth so her emotions were all over the place, scattered and scared.
Then he said her name and he said it was Shane. Her heart slowly dropped, her emotions slowly calmed as did everything in the room. She didn’t want scare him off, like she did Darryl, so she slowly nodded to give a sign that she knew who he was, but she felt special, she felt for the first time someone told her something, and was true to her and honest, he said he was going to come and he did came, did he care? Was he more than Darryl? Darryl never came, but Shane did, Shane had to be special, he had to be better but she didn’t waste no time in letting him know she wanted out. Her eyes were focused at the door, and then you could hear the clicking sound as the door gently opened and gave a slight squeaking like sound as the slight lights in the hall slowly lightened her room a bit.

Well, so much for muffling any sounds Cassie would make. He hadn’t realized to what extent her powers had already grown to. She was already moving things with her mind and making quite a lot of noise doing so. Not to the point of actually hurting him, but who knew, it was probably a possibility if she got extremely scared. And he wasn’t for sure exactly how scared she was, but he could hear her heartbeat, and it was not beating at healthy rate that was for sure. It was loud and wild. But once Shane spoke to her, she seemed to calm down a little. The chair as well as the window bars seemed to stop shaking. Shane sighed with relief. Good so she hadn’t gotten to the point of being so crazy that she didn’t know who certain people were. She knew exactly who he was when she told him that his name was Shane. And as the door slowly creaked open, he smiled. She obviously remembered that he had told her that he was going to come back for her as well. ”So, you remember why I’m here then?” Shane slowly removed his hand just in case she decided to freak out and scream which then he’d either try to cover her mouth again or knock her out completely and carry her out to save him the trouble of possibly getting caught because of a psychosis spell of hers.
Shane knew that Cassie probably wouldn’t speak to him unless something had changed from the last time he had seen her which it didn’t look like it. So, he just assumed she wasn’t going to answer his question. Besides it was more rhetorical anyway. He already knew she remembered why he was here, hence the reason she opened the door more than it was already open in the first place. ”Cassie, we don’t have a lot of time. The nurse it going to be making her rounds very soon, so you need to follow me quickly and quietly.” Shane stood up and moved towards the door peering out. ”You do want to get out of here, right?” He whispered glanced back at her. Shane jerked his head towards the hallway. ”Come on. We have to move.”

Once she calmed his hand slowly moved away from her lips after him making mention of her remembering him. She did, he said he was coming for her and that he did. She smiled slightly as he quickly got up telling her she should follow him, seemed obvious right. Seemed logic for her to do so, but she didn’t do much, she just sat there staring at him, smiling slightly as he jerked his head out the door and looked through in the hallway, she took this time to silently get off her bed as she walked right pass him, behind him and she made her way into the hallway, walking down the hallway towards the next door at the end. As she walked, wearing nothing more than her white robe, she made her way towards the door as the lights slightly flickered as she walked under each and everyone of them, behind her she could hear Shane, trying to stop her or sounding worried about something but she wasn’t paying much attention to him.
As she made her way towards the door, she didn’t raise her hand, she just stared at the door and both sides of the doors opened and she slowly walked, silently, with her soft footsteps through the door and into what seemed to be the waiting room, it was dark, nothing more but the light from the woman near a desk, the woman looked at her and seemed to be in a panic once she saw Cassie. Cassie just stared at her as she took the nearest bundle of paper and it flew across the room and got stuffed into the nurse’s mouth, shutting her up. The woman was deadly scared as her eyes were wide open, breathing heavily. Cassie just giggled when she saw the sight of the woman as she suddenly felt a hard shock to her head. It started hurting. She held her head and groaned in pain as she fell to her knees.
All that time she was hearing Shane behind her, but she wasn’t focusing on him, now it was just her head, it hurt, it really did, she was just down on her knees, holding her head, moaning in pain her head, and everything in the room started shaking, in the waiting area, the couches, the plants, the aquarium, everything in the room was moving and her head was hurting incredibly, tears falling from her eyes, she was crying in pain, which was one of few noises she made, laughter, giggles, screams and cries, she didn’t know what to do, she couldn’t control herself.

As Shane was peering out into the hallway, he was just about to step forward, but Cassie completely cut him off walking right in front of him. ”Oh yeah, way to listen to the man that is trying to save you.” Shane said, but it didn’t seem to help any. Cassie wasn’t going to answer, and well, it seemed she had her own little plan. It was called the Hey I’m Not Going to Listen to Shane Game and Walk Out In Front of the Surveillance Cameras that Shane Didn’t Mess With. ”Seriously?” Shane quickly followed behind her as she nonchalantly headed towards the door and opened it with her mind. Oh yeah, her powers had definitely grown since the last time he had seen her. ”Cassie, you were supposed to follow me remember?” He rolled his eyes and was getting rather irritated. Boy he was really going through a lot for this chick….okay well not for her per say, but still she didn’t know that, and she apparently didn’t care. Okay that probably wasn’t true either. She probably couldn’t care. He imagined that Cassie was so screwed up upstairs because of her abilities, that she half the time probably didn’t know what was going on. But now she was heading into dangerous waters. She had already used a large amount of her abilities rather quickly even if she didn’t know she was doing it. The contents of her room shaking, the door opening, the lights flickering down the hallways, the door opening yet again. Too much, too quickly was not a good thing right now.
”Cassie, no!” he tried to whisper loudly as she entered the waiting room where he knew a nurse was at the front desk. Well, so much for them not being made. She totally blew their cover. But once she so cleverly shoved paper into the nurse’s mouth, Shane watched as Cassie collapsed onto her knees obviously in pain. Damnit! Fun was over, this is when Shane had to step in. Shane quickly headed towards her. He glanced out at the nurse who was now taking the paper out of her mouth and calling for security code red over the intercom. Shane didn’t want to knock Cassie out, he really didn’t. It would just be easier if she was actually coherent and doing her own running with him, but that seemed to be the only way they were going to be able to get out of her safely. She was making all of the contents in the lobby shake uncontrollably, and it was mainly because Cassie was completely out of control herself.
Without hesitating, Shane elbowed her in the face hard enough to where it would knock her out. He knew he had probably just given her a black eye, and yeah there were other more smooth ways of knocking her out, but they were running out of time. Shane knelt down and slipped his hands beneath her lifting her up into his arms. His eyes shot to the nurse who was now accompanied by three men in police officer gear. They went to open the door which Shane was now on the other side of. Shane lifted his leg kicking the door open as hard as he could. The door smacked the faces of the two police officers up front stunning them. But it didn’t hold the other one or the nurse, and he was almost positive there were more people answering that security call as well. Shane bolted. ”And this is why listening would have been a good thing, don’t you think?” He said behind gritted teeth to Cassie knowing she probably couldn’t hear him at all. Shane had to get outside as soon as he could. Once outside he could get them up into the air.
He was having a lot of trouble getting to an exit though. He had completely given up on trying to avoid the cameras he hadn’t messed with. It was clearly impossible now that every freaking hallway he turned down had security guards heading towards him. This was just fabulous. Now, he was going to be on breaking news. So much for Mal not finding him.
Just as Shane was seriously about to give up completely in finding a way out, he saw an emergency door. Shane was already out of breath. Not that Cassie was heavy at all, she was actually rather light, but he had been trying to find his way out of this building for about 15 minutes now just running around in circles. Shane kicked at the emergency exit door breaking it open completely, and gust of air splashed in at both Shane and Cassie. Shane didn’t waste any time at all. He ran forward his bat wings breaking out from the skin on his back. As they flapped, he lifted him and Cassie off of the ground and into the air. Luckily, the police did not see him do so which was good. He definitely didn’t want to be the lucky lad that shared with the world that supernatural being were real.

Cassie as on her knees, her hands on her head as she grunted in pain, it really hurt her, it all scared her and made her feel good all together, but it hurt so much, she couldn’t handle it, it was too much for her, she grunted and groaned as she was on the floor, barely being able to move suddenly she heard someone coming behind her, not knowing who it is, seconds later she knew nothing more her mind was blank and everything was seemingly gone and so was she.
She could suddenly feel her hair blowing and hard wind blowing on her face, as her head lay backwards. It was rather difficult for her to hear anything with all the air blowing in her face and all she could see was darkness, the occasional cloud and then the moon, she couldn’t believe what she was seeing as she raised her head and she could see a wing flapping around, a bat like wing, slightly hairy, very skinlike, kind of freaked her out a bit but when her head raised and she looked before her, it was Shane, she couldn’t believe what she just saw. She was slightly startled a bit by this discovery as she was pretty sure Shane tried telling her something but the wind made it near impossible to even hear what he was telling her, all she wanted was to be let go at this point, she couldn’t trust Shane now, since she had this huge headache and was for certain it was Shane’s fault.
She just stared at him, again with her blank expressionless face as she her hair suddenly started to straighten a bit and then with one blink of the eye, she managed to push Shane away, though it must not have been the most clever idea in the world, since now, she was mid air, in her lonesome and within seconds she was freefalling into the unknown, she was going down at a quick rate, she was suddenly scared, though she wasn’t screaming, it was a weird feeling, right now she wished and hoped, she didn’t scare Shane off for good, she was incredibly frightened when she learned what Shane was, but now she may have realized, maybe she should have reacted to that later. Even more, why was Shane so interested in her? Did he think she was lovely too, well now was no time to think of that, all she knew was she needed saving now and seemingly the only person in any position to save her, is the person she just pushed away with her mind, which was Shane.

They had cleared the hospital, and Shane was almost back to his apartment. He really hoped Cassie wouldn’t wake up. She was a bit on the crazy side, and realizing that Shane wasn’t human but someone who had bat wings popping out of his back would probably freak her out to no end. And just as Shane thought that maybe he’d get home without that actually happening, he could feel Cassie slightly move among his arms. He looked down and met her expressionless gaze. Oh shit. This was not good. ”Cassie, you’re fine just don’t look down. We’re almost there.” He may have said that as loud as he could, but up in the air the wind was so strong that nothing could be heard over it.
Cassie’s eyes blinked, and all of a sudden, Cassie was completely out of Shane’s grasp as Shane’s body flew back his wings flailing all over the place. Shane struggled to get his wings under control again so he could catch flight against the wind. Once he did so, Cassie was nowhere to be seen. ”Cassie!” He yelled, but why? Shane had no idea. It was obvious that she had fallen and probably wouldn’t be able to hear him at all. Shane quickly dove downwards breaking free of the clouds his eyes scanning the night sky for a dot that could be Cassie. And there she was. He could not hear her at all, but he could see her body falling at an unimaginable speed.
Shane dove through the sky pushing himself to get to her, but she was falling fast. Too fast. But as he neared the ground of earth, he also neared Cassie. He was close to her now coming at her which would probably scare her even more. But she was crazy, not stupid and would probably prefer him colliding with her instead of the cement of the road beneath her. Shane opened his arms as he found Cassie wrapping his arms around her torso just as they were feet away from the ground. Shane was able to catch the wind with his wings averting him away from the cement and now back up just above the buildings of LA.
Shane said nothing as he slowed his flying and headed towards the roof of an apartment complex. Shane reached the roof and stepped onto it running forward and slowing himself down to a halt. He let go of Cassie and stepped back a bit which was probably not the best idea. She was probably dizzy and had wobbly legs. But he figured she probably needed her space right now. I mean he’d only seen certain aspects of her powers, who knew what else she could do. He had to be careful. Shane closed his eyes and winced as his wings moved inward disappearing completely into his back. He opened his eyes and glanced back at Cassie. ”Sorry about that. It was the best way I could get us out of there considering you sort of had your own plans apparently.” Shane said with a bit of irritation in his voice referring to the fact that she had completely disregarded anything he was trying to tell her back at the hospital.

Well, now she got herself in a bigger jam than she needed to be in, she was just in the air, pretty much near crashing onto the roof top as she suddenly felt arms around her and she suddenly stopped shooting towards the floor and was more at ease. She could hear the heavy breathing coming from Shane, did she tire him out, guess he really cared after all, lucky too, because the floor was not that far away and that could have resulted badly. They flew away towards this building complex, Lucky for her, he saved her, maybe he did care after all she thought to herself, he did make sure she was on the ground safe and sound as he gently put her down on her feet as she stood there, staring at him.
But then what she feared happened, Shane was also scared of her, she could tell, but why? He was this huge demon it seems with wings, why would he be scared of her, but she could tell, especially the distance he kept from her when they landed, he was distant and it worried Cassie a bit, who just tilted her head on the side as she watched in amazement as Shane’s wings, just disappeared behind him. He apologized, just like Darryl used to, but she seemed more fascinated with his wings, she hoped he wasn’t scared. That he would run away from her, but right now, her focus was moved away from him and to his wings, which just disappeared before. She slowly walked towards him, she probably looked horrible too, in her white robe and crazy hair.
She slowly walked towards him and then stood before him, she bit her lip slightly as she stared at him then kind of bend over next to him to look at his back, wondering about his wings. She slowly lifted her hand and glided it down his back over his shirt, it felt weird, well it felt weird because she couldn’t feel anything at all. This shocked her slightly as her eyes quickly widened and she stood straight quickly and slowly stepped away from Shane with her hand on her chest and the other covering her mouth in disbelief. What was he she wondered, it only now phased her, despite being flown to the roof top. She only now wondered why he had wings earlier and now, not anymore.
She didn’t want to be scared, because he was also scared of her for some reason, guess they were both a bit questionable about each other at this point, so after a while, her scare turned into a slight smile as she tilted her head on the side and smiled at him, she slowly walked towards him, with her arms open as she hugged him, she placed her head on his chest, her ear close to his heart as she heard a slight beat, quicker than her own, as she slowly mimicked the beat of his heart on his back with her fingers as they stood there for a while.
She then moved away from him and slowly turned her back to him, with her smile still in tact on her face as she walked towards the edge of the building, she slowly walked there, as she made her way on the edge and stood there for a while, hoping she didn’t grow any concern in Shane, thinking he’d have to fly and save her again, but after standing there a while she just slowly bent down and decided to have a seat and enjoy the night sight of lights and stars with her legs dangling off the edge of the building.

Shane was not expecting Cassie to walk towards him. In fact, he honestly wasn’t sure what she was doing. Her eyes met his and then she bent over peering behind his back. Wow, was this awkward. Shane decided not to move as she apparently was scoping him out. He could feel her fingertips brush over his shoulder blades through his shirt. She made a quick movement standing up straight and stepping away from Shane one hand at her chest and the other on her mouth in awe. There was an awkward silence between the two as they just stared at each other for just a few seconds. Shane cleared his throat breaking the silence as he reached into his back pocket pulling out a pack of his cigarettes and his lighter. He lifted a cigarette out of the pack and put it between his lips slipping the pack back into his back pocket. ”Yeah, and those were wings, and they can come out whenever I want them too.” Shane cocked his head to the side and brought the lighter to the tip of the cigarette flicking it on and inhaling to allow the fire to catch the chemicals inside the little stick of cancer. Once the smoke began to seep up into the air in front of him, he slipped his lighter into his back pocket as well and took the cigarette out of his mouth to exhale the smoke. ”It’s just a part of my form, so don’t be scared or anything.” Shane wanted to assure her that he was not here to hurt her.
Shane watched as a smile spread across her lips, and she stepped towards him again this time wrapping her arms around his torso and resting her head on his chest. Wow, yet another very unexpected move from Mrs. Cassie Oliver. Shane froze his arms down by his sides. It had been quite a while since someone hugged him and actually meant for it to be a compassionate sort of thing. At least that is what he thought it was. He assumed she was thanking him without actually saying the words. After realizing that this hug was lasting longer than a normal hug, Shane lifted his hand and patted her back awkwardly.
Very shortly after, Cassie completely turned away from him and walked over to the edge of the his apartment complex. Of course Shane assumed she was going to catapult herself off of the building like a raging suicidal psycho. It was only natural to think that. After all, he did just break her out of a mental institution. But luckily once she got to the edge she knelt down and plopped her butt right on the edge so her legs were dangling off. God, was it going to be like this for however long Shane needed to keep her around to find out if she could be of use to him? Like she was some sort of child that he had to take care of? He hoped not. But there was no denying that Cassie needed some serious help before he could find out anything. First, he needed to figure out how to get her to talk just so he can understand what she was capable of thus far. Then, he needed to get her stable enough to actually be able to use her abilities without hurting her body. That was going to be the main challenge. But as of right now, Shane had definitely had his fair share of fun for the night. Sitting on the edge of the top of a building sounded like a good plan for now.
Shane made his way over to join Cassie, sitting on the edge next to her both of his legs dangling over the side as well. He brought his cigarette up to his lips yet again taking a very long puff, holding it, and then letting it out slowly. ”So, this is my apartment complex. Welcome to where you’ll be staying for a bit I imagine.” Shane said as his eyes followed the police cars that were driving down the main street of downtown LA towards the mental institution.
