Pain! Pain! There was a lot of pain! Trenton used the small jacket he had stolen as a cover as he raced towards the dorm room he shared with Zach. This is bad! This is very bad, Trenton thought to himself. The jacket wasn't doing much to protect him, though he had not exactly combusted yet, though he was coming pretty close. He just had to get inside as soon as possible. He grabbed the doorknob and pushed his way through, nearly breaking down the door in the process before shutting it and diving towards the darkest corner of the bedroom.
When his body finally stopped flaming, Trenton shook his head. "Terrific. You would think I was a fledgling," he muttered to himself. How could he have been so stupid as to stay out so late? It was a good way to get himself killed. But then again, the prey he had been tracking had been elusive...for a human, anyways and he had just finally been able to catch and drain him.

Zach stared at his computer screen his eyes drooping as he nodded off every now and then. Why had he even decided to sit down and do a homework assignment anyways? Oh yeah, because he was trying to avoid everyone. He hadn’t spoken to Darryl since his first transition as a werewolf which was painfully horrifying. He was still reeling from the traumatizing experience that he knew would just hit him again and again and again every month from now on. He had stopped going to any classes that he and Shannelle had together. Seeing Shannelle, the werewolf that had turned him, would just make him even more angry and resentful towards her which he actually had every right to feel. He hadn’t spoken to Jayla since Jace’s funeral. Just thinking about it made him want to cry again. Lately that was all he’d been doing. Being a weeping chick trying to cope with the issues that kept popping up in his life. And even Lelia he hadn’t seen in a while. He hoped she didn’t think it was because of the whole sex thing and him finding out that she was into some pretty shady shit. That wasn’t the case at all. He just wanted to be alone. For so long he’d wanted to be around people, feel a part of this new LA crowd. But now all he wanted to do was go back in time and decide right after graduation that he would stay in Miami for the rest of his life. It would probably save him the problems he’d been having here in LA.
Zach shut his lab top rather loudly without even saving the few sentences that he had written to begin his poetry analysis. They probably weren’t even worth keeping anyway. He slouched down in his desk chair letting his head fall back over the back of the chair. He stared up at the white ceiling. It was very plain and boring to look at yet he kept staring at it hoping that that blank slate would give him some ideas as to what to do with his life from here on out. After a few minutes his eyes slowly began to droop again and eventually close completely.
Just as Zach began to drift to sleep, someone burst into his room making him jump about a mile and spin his head around to focus on the intruder. His eyes fell on a man who was literally smoking in a jacket that looked to be a female’s. Zach stood up quickly as the guy rapidly dove into Zach’s corner of the room where the window was shut and the shades were closed. Zach stood up bracing himself to possibly have to fight this guy although Zach was not one to throw punches. He was more talk than anything else. When the guy peeked out from behind the woman’s jacket and mumbled something to himself, Zach rolled his eyes. It was Trenton, his arch nemesis who he actually hadn’t seen in weeks. He should have recognized him from the hair, but he must have been too dazed by the smoke and very strange scene to notice specifics. ”Trenton! What the fuck is going on?” Zach yelled. ”Did someone try to cremate you again? I swear, it wasn’t me this time.” Zach held up his hands in surrender, but even with the sarcastic comment, he couldn’t help but wonder what the hell was really going on here. It wasn’t until he actually saw Trenton’s skin that he sort of freaked. It had literally been burned right off of him. His eyes went wide. Should he call 911? Should he go get some water and splash it over his ass hole roommate? Should he scream for help? Zach wasn’t good in situations like this. He was definitely not the calm and collective individual that figured things out rationally. Nope he was the crazy person who in a building on fire would run down the halls and scream hysterically.

At Zach's surprised question of what was going on and that he statement that he had not tried to cremate him, Trenton rolled his eyes. "No. No one has tried to cremate me. I just stayed out later than I usually do," he replied. However, he had to admit, he was impressed that he seemed to be handling his abrupt entrance fairly well.
Then, his roommate's new smell hit his nostrils. "Oh, terrific. You got yourself turned into a dog. I did not think you were that stupid," he said, wrinkling his nose and fighting to keep his fangs inside where they belonged. It was bad enough that he had had to share the room with the boy when he was a human, but now he had to share with a werewolf? That is just lovely. Just very charming, he sarcastically thought to himself.
When Trenton was certain that he was no longer burning, he removed the coat from his body. "You mind closing the door so I can go back to my side of the room?" he queried.

For once Zach was actually listening to every word Trenton was saying, although he didn’t understand it one bit. He had said that he had stayed out too late as the reason for the burning skin. Zach had to be stupid or just completely oblivious to the world because lately everything strange that happened was like something he had to decode which was clearly impossible for him to do without some clues. Zach nodded at Trenton, but a confused look still resided on his face. ”Right….I’m still thinking cremation makes more sense which really doesn’t make any sense at all actually being that you are still talking to me.” Eh….was Zach making any sense? Nope, probably not. But what else was new? At this moment he was a bit freaked, so nothing would probably be understandable.
Before long, Trenton spoke again, and Zach was definitely not prepared for this whole situation to get any weirder. Zach swallowed hard and clenched his jaw. Was Trenton referring to his still fresh in his mind transformation? The one that kept him in excruciating pain for hours as his bones molded to the new form of his body. Zach hadn’t told anyone except Jayla, and the only other people who knew were Darryl, Shannelle, and Marina. As much as he disliked Marina, he was pretty sure she wouldn’t have said anything to Trenton even if she was dating him. It was bad enough that he had to deal with this change, now he had to deal with Trenton knowing as well. Trenton removed the jacket from his face and the smoke had mostly cleared, but when Trenton asked him to close the door, Zach didn’t move. He wasn’t sure what to make of this whole scene now, and all he wanted to know was how the fuck Trenton knew so much about the monster he had recently become. He gritted his teeth and glared at Trenton. ”And how did you know that?”

Trenton just rolled his eyes at Zach's comment that he was still going with the cremation theory. "And that is why you have trouble procuring a companion in the evenings. Well, that and your tendency to babble," he responded. But then again, if he catered to the theory, it was one less person he had to kill.
At his question, Zach gritted his teeth and then asked him how he knew. Well, since the wolf is out of the bag... Trenton thought. "I can smell it. I am a vampire," Trenton responded. "Now, would you be so kind as to close the front door?" he asked again.

Zach stared at Trenton as he just confessed that he could smell him, which was rather gross to be honest, and that he was a vampire. Really? Was he seriously hearing all of this correctly? Trenton did not at all look like he was joking, and Trenton wasn’t modern enough to even pull off anything remotely as sarcastic as Zach was able too, at least Zach thought so anyway. So, if Trenton wasn’t kidding then there was something else completely impossible to add to his list. Zach nodded with a sigh and a very just “fed up with” look on his face. ”Okay, so let’s see here, we got witches, banshees, werewolves….and now vampires.” He chuckled with a roll of his eyes. ”I can’t wait to see what’s next!” Zach yelled throwing his hands up in defeat as he spun around heading to the door and walking out not even bothering to close the door for his roommate. He was officially done with all of this shit.
