She locked the front of her business with a click of keys. The silent alarm would protect it till the building owners found someone else for it. Sighing she walked over to her car, her furniture had been shipped on ahead and she had friends that were in New York moving it into her new place. She so owed them a steak dinner or five when she got there. She'd be there now if it wasn't for the paperwork that needed to be filled out to make sure everything was in order with her apartment. Final inspection had happened and she was good to go. All she had to do was wait for Ev to arrive and let him know and she was heading out to New York.
She really hoped it played out better there than here. All she'd managed here was to open old wounds from a commitment phobic ex bent on lying to her and evading her questions. She knew Hart Enterprises was up to no good but they owned nearly everyone so proving it was next to impossible. Never one for loosing battles Lily had put up the white flag and done some digging. Turned out there was a company in New York that was looking for folks with a degree in Criminology and Private Investigator experience. She'd gotten certified in New York and gotten her weapons registered so she was set. It helped that her old college roomate had an opening in the brownstone she owned. She was letting Lily stay there and was getting her set up. She was very lucky to get a second chance to start again. Maybe this time she could find a family of her own choosing.
Sighing she looked at the fuzzy dice on her mirror. They were black and had silver dragons on them. They had been a gift from Xzavier and she bit her lip. The urge to throw them out screamed at her and her hand touched the soft fabric. Biting her lip she ducked her head and her brown hair fell forward in a cascade and covered the fact she was crying silently from the casual observer. Resting her head gently on the steering wheel she felt as if part of her soul was being torn in two but she knew she had to do this. Xzavier didn't appreciate her and he should. She was worth it. She hadn't gone through losing her family just to sit by a phone and wait for Xzavier Evans to call her. She was young, smart and sexy.
Sitting in the car she felt anything but that right now.

The skies grew dark, darker than the sunny forecast called for. It was sad really, but she had to do what she had to do. He still remembered it. He had met Lily when her and Xzavier first started going out. Ev answered Xzavier cell when he was in the shower and Ev was met by a 'Hey baby'. Good memories, and he would remember that. But with people dying and zombies everywhere and pretty much the apolocolypse brewing in this city, he could blame her for going away as fast as she could. But if Xzavier wasn't going to say goodbye, then Ev would. He had been through a lot, some of that with Lily and some without. She knew he was a witch, which was big. So this flashy entrance wasn't going to give her a heart attack or anything. As black skies dimmed the area, Ev hovered through the air and down, sparks flashing around his hands and out of his eyes. But the skies were calm, and when he saw the car he closed his eyes tight.
A whispy of wind ran over him as he disappeared, blowing away with the wind and towards the car in small molecules. The passenger seat window was down a bit, which was good so he didn't get caught and die. But sensing her stress, Ev quietly materialized in like settling dust as he looked at her. Her head was against the steering wheel, and for the first time he thanked god that he wasn't an empath. She had had it rough. None of it easy at all, and he just sat their and looked at her as shallow rain started to patter on the pavement. "You didn't think you were leaving without saying goodbye, did you?". He asked with a small smile on his face. He hadn't really smiled lately, but he tried his best just than, and it barely worked. "I was hoping to catch you before you left. Xzavier told me so - - your not going to say goodbye to him?". Asked Ev worriedly.

She looked over from her steering wheel pity party and groaned softly, "You want to move the last of my stuff to New York?" she said softly as she regarded his appearance and sat up. She was pointedly not going to stare at the fuzzy dice. Peering at him she wondered if he payed attention to the world outside his nose or if he'd isolated himself out so much he couldn't be reached. Word on the street was that the Evans family stopped caring about the world.
"Saying goodbye to someone that never calls and has had to cancel out on dinners and lunches is not high on my priority list, Ev. I'm tired of being moved to the bottom of the list with him. He doesn't trust or appreciate me. I see little to no reason to include him in my life choices when clearly all I ever rated was to be told to get out of town. Its clear that being in a relationship wasn't high on his list." she exhaled, "Wasn't like I came out here to see him. He just happened to be here." she shrugged her shoulders then reached up, unhooked and handed him the fuzzy dice, "He forgot these." It hurt to give them up and she held onto them a moment. The darn things swaying between them like the scales of life. "They'd probably look better on your car anyway." she didn't want to deal with any more memories. It just hurt right now and she didn't want to keep hurting, "I need to leave. Its tearing me up inside that he's all but forgotten I exist in his whatever he's doing. He doesn't trust me or he' d have told me. That means more likely than not its something bad and I don't want to be dragged in anyway." she reached over and adjusted her mirror.

"I already sent it there this morning, it's waiting for you". If only she knew. If only she knew that this year they had fought more evil then they had in a long time, experienced so much lose and death, so much hurt. Xzavier was still bruised from Farra, and Axel was gone. She didn't know, but maybe if she did then she would stay. She would stay and be there for him. But that was selfish. He sat their and looked at her, playing the listening shoulder. If he told her that their brother was as good as dead, that their lives were falling apart and they were about to hit a major apocalypse, she would end up staying. She didn't need that, so he stayed quiet. She even said, she didn't want to be dragged in to this shit, and Ev didn't want her to be anyways. So he gave her a smile. "I don't blame you. If I could get out, I would sell my soul to get out of here. But I can't, you can". He smiled warmly at her. But then he looked down slightly at the dice now in his hand, and smirked slightly at them before looking back up to Lily.
"I might not - see you again. Something bad is happening, end of the world bad and me and Xzavier have to stop it. I don't know what will happen, but - - he loves you. He does, I can feel it. Just stay Lily, for him. You were made for each other, I have seen it. You will grow old together, and have three kids; Palmer, Nessa and Channing. And they will be the best kids in the world. You can't leave". A tear fell down his cheek as he hugged her. That was it on the plate, and he wanted her to stay for them...
... In reality, he sat their contemplating everything. She deserved a normal life, she deserved to be happy. If it meant without Xzavier, then so be it. Ev was a lot of things but a cupid he was not. He smiled at her and touched her hand. "Goodbye, Lily". He said with a warm smile, before opening the car door and stepping out, closing the door. Standing on the pavement, he watched her trying not to frown, to show something was up. But it was too hard not too. Except when she left, she didn't see the manicured hand climb its way from behind Ev and wrap around his neck. Farra laughed hysterically as Ev was ripped into an alleyway, and the skies suddenly turned dorment - motionless.

She smiled softly and looked at him,"Ev, I need to do this. I need to know what its like to be me before I'm a part of a couple. I mean I thought I could handle waiting around but its not who I am. I can't wait five or ten years for him to decide he's ready to settle down and have a family." she said softly as she looked over at him and smiled, "I'll keep in touch."
She watched him a moment, "I do love him but I need to know he loves me and I can't do that if he's taking me for granted." she said as she closed her door and started the car, putting it in gear she drove off and didn't look behind her to see what happened.
Soon she would learn that there was far more to this world than she ever knew.
