The smells of the streets are something you never forget if you've ever spent time on them. The smell of oil, piss and booze with the occassional scent of vomit never ceased to amaze Merry as she stood there and watched the shadows for movement. People who were up to no good usually spent their time here if the busted streetlight was any indicator. She debated coming back here in her civvy clothes but decided against it. She was dressed to deal with trouble and she knew it was time she manned up and took her life in her own hands. Time to live and not just observe.
As if on cue a vampire moved out of the shadows, his red eyes glowing as he looked her over and smiled with a leer, "Little low end for a girl like you isn't it?" he purred as he approached her.
"I decided to slum it." she said to him as she cocked her hip and he took a run at her that hit her telekinetic shield. She smirked as he slid down and she readied her stake. He tried to move around her and hit the shield again. "Oh yeah didn't I tell you its not just on the front?" she said as she lunged and felt the stake hit home causing the vampire to turn to dust. It was useful to control a shield. You could make a hole in it for your stake whenever you wanted. She sneezed.. Dead people bits, gross. She hoped this wouldn't give her lung rot as she swept the pile aside with her boot and shifted position to another street. This one had a bar that was purported to be filled with demons.
She heard her father in her head chiding her not to overdo it and she sighed. She had a family full of telepaths and it was hard to keep anything a secret for long. She felt really weird being out here at all but there were just too many minions that were feeding on people they shouldn't be. Her father had trained her to take over his job as vamp enforcer, but she still felt clumsy. The vampires would probably laugh at her but being human gave her an advantage. She was food to them so they would do dumb mistakes. We weren't talking the elite few, we're talking vampires that take out graveyard diggers and funeral mourners or the ones that resurrected in hospitals and acted like tweeked out druggies. THAT was the rabble she dealt with. The ones that risked outting the vampire community and put them in danger.
