The summer evening was warm and Merry checked her makeup one last time in the bedroom mirror. Connor was going to do his usual climb up the balcony and at this stage she tended to just leave the door open to it so he could come on in. Twirling slightly in her blue floral dress she looked down at her heels and smiled. Taking up a bottle of perfume she sprayed a little behind her ear and a dash on her hair. She needed much less than most because she didn't want to make Connor gag with his heightened senses. With a quick check of her clock she grabbed up her purse and waited. She didn't know what he had in mind but she'd let him plan the dates. It was just easier all around.

Things were a bit weird right now after what went down at the manor. Robert seemed to be treating him less like some threat, though he was quite cautious still. Figuring he would surprise her this time, Connor did the unexpected when he finally arrived, he used the front door. Instead of knocking, he simply slipped inside, figuring while it might bother Robert, Merry wouldn't mind. Blurring through the house, Connor made sure to keep his steps light and quiet incase someone was.. and then he realized that line of thinking was useless.
It came back to him now that Sienna was now a creature of the night, there was no need to tread lightly. However with Merry being in the house he had grown protective. A newborn vampire was dangerous, even to their own family, yet she probably slept in the underground set of rooms Robert had created. However knowing the way in and out did not garuntee the saftey of Merry.
Opening her door quietly like a phantom, he watched her for a few minutes, wondering how long it would take her to notice. She always worked so hard when it came to dressing up, trying to impress him, being noticed. While it was admirable, to him she was fine in pajamas, hair a mess, whatever really. He wanted to tell her that, however he was not too good at saying mushy nonsense like that, it just wasn't him. He never had the words to say that he would pull the stars from the sky for her, weave them into a brilliant necklace that paled in comparison even still to how he felt she looked.
"Lovely, as always." he said, it was alot less elaborate than he wanted, but it would be enough for now. He hated how his mind processed the thought, but his mouth never delivered it. "I figured I could just watch you eat, but from the cliffs so we could watch the waves. There is still a faint trace of the sun, but not enough to kill me." he said, chuckling. Even so, there were candles where he had taken the dinner package to lay in waiting.

Merry did startle a bit as he spoke but she recovered a moment after putting her hand to her chest briefly, laughing softly she walked over and locked the balcony door before coming over to him and smiling up at him. She still wasn't sure if kissing was a good idea so she held his hand instead and looked up at him, "Its good to see you. I love that idea! The beach is beautiful. Give me a moment and I'll grab some flats since we're going out doors." She slipped her hand out of his reluctantly and moved to her closet where that wonderful item resided.
A shoe carousel, slipping out of her heels she found a set of red flats that matched the red in her dress and secured them on her feet. Smiling shyly she closed her closet door then made a graceful turn to face him and returned to standing next to him, dangling her keys in front of her she chuckled at him. "I'm ready to go when you are." She glanced up at him with mischief in her eyes, "So did you want to drive?" she asked softly of him.
She could pick up on his frustration and she moved closer to hug him. She didn't say anything just gave him reassurance. Then she slipped away before he got too tempted. That was how things seemed to be with them. Pulling closer and backing away then back and so on. It was the ultimate tease and while it sometimes drove them nuts it also gave him comfort that she was okay being close to him and she accepted him. The reality was that if he wanted to kill her he could do so whether she was close or far away. He could strike and she would never see it coming. She knew this risk, he reminded her of it every time she got too close to forgetting and now it was burned into her mind she wouldn't forget it but she still wanted to hold his hand.
So she did. Touching it lightly as she walked down the stairs and through the house with him. Making eye contact shyly every now and then as they moved and she moved out the door, letting him lock it behind her as she moved ahead of him. Hips swaying in the summer evening.

Offering a slow nod of his head, Connor let go of the hand she slipped into his. Watching her walk towards the closet, he couldn't help but feel his other side well up in him. Taking a deep, calming breath, he managed to slow his racing mind. Taking in her scent however did not help the situation, as always, he wanted to taste her again. Ever since that night, the night where he first assaulted her, there was an overwhelming urge to feel the warm life blood fill his throat again. This was exactly what they had all discussed, this is what he was fighting to resist, and part of himself could see the different perspectives of the vampires he had come into contact with.
"I thought you might like it. I spent all evening trying to figure out what sort of things you might be into. I realize that with everything that's been going on, I am not sure I really know that much about you." he said, laughing quietly. It was true, though, she was just that troublesome mortal that he had become attached to. He didn't ask her many questions, didn't seem to care, he had been distant and cold. Perhaps in a way, he was exactly who his sire wanted him to be, he knew now that he had it within himself to be every bit as cruel as she was to those around her.
Moving closer to her out of instinct, he seemed to move faster than even his own thoughts. Standing so close that his body was against hers, he took the keys from her, careful to caress her hand with his own. "What sort of backwards world would it be if the woman drove on the date?" he asked, obviously kidding. It was probably actually the first time he had ever said something truly sarcastic in her presence, something meant to be humorous. Putting an arm around her back and another in the crook of her legs, he lifted her off the ground. "Let's go." he said, placing the keys in his pocket.
Suddenly, he had a better idea, one that she might find more favorable. "Actually, we're going to take the scenic route, alright?" he asked. Tossing her into the air over his head, he'd catch her on his back, before making his way towards the window. With her securely on his back, he hopped up onto the rail, looking down at the drop with an amused smirk on his face. "This is more fun than a car, trust me. I'll give you a little taste of my life, in exchange." he said, laughing as he put his hands under hers legs. "Are you ready for this?" he asked, but he didn't wait for an answer.
With a powerful spring, he launched the both of them into the air. It would seem almost as if they were flying, the wind rushing around them as they soared over the yard. With absolutely no sound at all, they would land at the end of the drive way. Before he continued, he looked up to gauge her reaction to what had just happened, there was also the very real chance that she was now scared for life.

Merry felt his hunger and kept herself as casual as she could. She knew if she reacted he'd go into hunt mode and that would completely ruin the evening. She was quick though in getting her shoes on and returning to his side.
"I'll be happy to talk to you." she smiled up at him softly, "I just didn't want to babble your ear off." she said gently, she knew he could get caught up in his own thoughts and often she just left him to it rather than try to verbally interject. If she thought she could she tried to soothe him but it was very hit or miss.
Laughing softly she leaned against him, a smile filled her face as she looked into his green eyes, "Indeed. Why would I deny you the pleasure of driving break neck speeds to the beach?" She put her arm around his neck as he scooped her up bride style. She nuzzled his neck playfully before she realized his intent.
She squealed happily as she wrapped her arms around his chest, "That sounds so interesting. Lets go!" she said like the daredevil person she'd always been. She giggled and felt his hands on her legs and leaned forward, "Onward!!" she said gently to him as he positioned himself on the sill.
"I love it! Lets go!" she said as she tried to calm herself and and settled herself a bit more on his back without teasing him overly much, "Whats your first question, Connor?" she asked as she nuzzled his cheek and kissed it lightly. More out of friendship than romance not due to lack of feeling but so she didn't tease him overly much. The feeling was there it was just dampened down for his senses so he wasn't overwhelmed.

Taking a moment to allow her to orient himself, he wondered about whether or not this was a wise course of action. If tonight went off without a hitch, there was no way he could back out without absolutely devastating her now. There was already enough pain in the Lovelace family to last a life time, he didn't need to add to that. "Taking is something you seem to like to do, thought I would at least give you the chance." he said, knowing that he didn't really bother to talk all that much. It probably drove her nuts, however he wouldn't know. She spent her time exploring their bond, he spent all of his time trying to close it.
"We're not driving, we're walking." he said, bouncing her up higher onto his back as he started his version of a jog. There would be wind whipping in her face as he kept his eyes focused on the task at hand, getting back to the beach. However that didn't mean that he was entirely unable to focus and multi-task while they travelled. She seemed giddy enough, though it was her boundless energy that ultimate seemed to exhaust him. How could one person seem so happy all the time? It was insanity, in his eyes anyway.
"My first question? Well, we had better start with something simple, hm? How about, your favorite movie?" he asked, keeping the conversation light for now untilt hey arrived. These were definitely little things that he never bothered to ask or observe before. But with almost getting her killed, with Roberts help, he decided that he was going to make more of an effort to finally choose a side in all of this. Either he was in her life or out of it, they were right, there was no straddling the fence. Who's side would he take however? It was too early on to tell, but he had a good idea.
"You'd think I would know things like this before being involved with you. I feel like we're doing this whole thing backwards."

Enjoying the jog for what it was she shifted to make it easier on herself after all it wasn't like she was heavy to him. Vampires could throw parked cars like humans threw jacks. It was a mark of how much he had improved that he was able to judge his strength now verses when they first met.
"I kinda guessed that." she chuckled at him as she peered down at him her face looking at his in a quasy upside down fashion for a moment before she crossed her eyes playfully then went back to looking over his shoulder.
"The Princess Bride is my favorite movie. I suppose I'm pretty easy to read. What's yours?" she asked as they moved along and she stretched out lightly, moving her hair into some semblance of order even as he jogged along at a fast pace.
"Well the circumstances are a bit different but its still working out. I mean yes we've got our share of snafus and snags but so does everyone. And even if you weren't here with me Sienna and my dad would still be vampires and Anne would still have had her psycho bitch fit. So to my lights its good that you showed up. I mean seriously who do you think I could talk about stuff with without them thinking I was totally psycho crazy? Its nice to be able to be honest and not hide part of who I am just to make someone else happy."
