He couldn't let this go on any longer. Everette had been avoiding him since he nearly killed him. If Everette showed that much fire and anger in battle more often, he'd be kickass. As long as it didn't involve his brother going all psycho on him again. Who was he kidding, anyway? It was usually him who was the one who avoided the problems, who pretended everything was okay when it clearly wasn't. It was his job; he was the older brother and father all tied into one. It wasn't something he chose to be, it just happened, and he had come to accept it, even though he didn't like it. He knew Everette was hurting, but they couldn't keep going on like this, it wasn't healthy. They had a job to do, and he seemed to be the only one really doing that job at the moment. Something had to give.
Sighing as he approached the magic box, he stood there for a moment in thought, before opening the door and walking through as he heard the bell ring, notifying whoever was inside that someone had entered. He wasn't sure how Everette would take his sudden appearence, but he didn't care. Everette needed to grow a pair and stop dwelling on what happened. Sure, he was angry, and sure, he was confused. But he was over that now, and he needed Everette to be over that as well. Everette was clearly going through some issues, and with the amount the two of them had been through, he was hoping that Everette would at least have the decency to talk to him about it, and trust him with whatever Everette was going through. He was blood, his brother for hecks sake. He had looked out for Everette his entire life, and wasn't going to stop just because the kid decided to attempt to kill him in a spot of rage.
He walked further inside, looking around curiously as he awaited Everette surfacing. "Ev...Hey Ev! Where are you, we need to talk. You can't keep hiding out here, pretending to work. If your going to do that, at least give me a cut for rent." A half grin appeared on his face as he continued looking around, before leaning against the counter and examining some of the strange items sold in this shop. He never really understood all of this magic stuff, he usually just preffered to beat people up and let Everette worry about this.

"One scale, that is all I am asking for. Let me take it and then I will take you to the beach. I said the BEACH!". Ev yelled as the tantrumming mermaid splashed water into his face. The salty water from her tank stung his eyes as he wiped them, and then looked at her. Right now he definitely didn't have time for an unreasonable sea creature right now. A customer needed mermaid dust for a sea incantation, and needed it in like an hour. Ev had to do his part, and that was to get Sarz to give him a scale. Just one scale was all that he was asking for, and then he would take her too the beach after work. But she was being unreasonable times a thousand. He had a rubber glove on his hand to grip, and through the splashes of water he tried to get a scale. But she was flipping and flopping everywhere, her shrilled wails echoed through the basement. Chicken Wing used to be so much more reasonable, but where was he now? It seemed mermaid were his best bet now.
"Sarz, seriously babe you are being the biggest bitch right now". He would be regretting that. The wet and dripping figure of Everette Evans zoomed through the doors of the basement, flopping backwards and landing on the floor of the back area of the shop. He grunted and coughed, having it been her tail that whipped him in the chest. He went to sit up but then a scale flew and hit him in the chest as he picked it up off his lap. Thank god for that then. But then after giving him the scale, Sarz slammed the doors closed and locked them, pouting through the door. Really? An emotional mermaid, who would have thought. She didn't even speak! Getting up, rustling his hair as water fell out of it he looked at the scale. Decent size too. "Thanks Sarz, I -". That was until he heard the door of the shop close and looked from the basement door to the shop access as he went to walk through. But then he recognized the voice.
It was Xzav, and he seemed to want to talk. It really should be reverse situation. He had - tried to kill him. Seriously, he tried to burn the guy alive and murdered someone else just before. But he was getting better and passed it, finding the fine line between magic and reality where he doesn't need to be entirely reliant on magic, even though it is al around him. But what could he say? 'Hey Xzav, sorry about the fire and death and all that. Wanna go for a beer?'. Come on it, was rediculous. But if it was one thing, he could be pussy in front of Xzavier. So opening the door, he stepped out as he saw him. He didn't know what to do. Smile? Frown? Scream, yell? So he closed the door behind him and walked towards him slowly, letting out a small smile. "Hey bud".

Finally that kid surfaced from whatever he was doing. He probably had some new kind of pet for all he knew, he knew what Everette was like and how attatched he got to those strange creatures. It reminded him of when they used to have a pet dog. Everette would be the one who followed it around everywhere when he was like four, and would, in his mind, be looking after it all the time. He grew so attatched to that dog, the part which was the worst was when the explaining about what happened to poor old Spots when he was ran over by a car. Ran over by a bloody car, this family just couldn't get a break from the extremes, now could they? He remembered how long it took for Everette to recover from that, and the funny thing was that he now barely had any memory of this ever happening. Therefore Xzavier was the narrator this time.
He raised an eyebrow at Everette's casual greeting. "Hey bud? Don't see you for days, and thats the best you got for me? Come on, even Axel can do better than that, and you know what his like..." He trailed off, before coughing softly to break himself off and look back towards Everette sternly. He put down the item he was holding on the shelf it belonged on, and walked closer, leaning on the counter. He hated seeing Everette so distant with him, they were always so close, they looked after eachother alone for all these years, and they went through everything together. They weren't just bonded by blood, but by their experiences and friendship together as well. He hated seeing Everette have to go through this alone, and he couldn't let it go on any longer. He had to look out for his little brother and get him through this. Things happen, it was time Everette put the past in the past.
He chuckled softly, breaking the slight tension. "I remember when you cried when you dropped your favourite toy and it broke. A lot has changed, hey?" He continued to smile softly towards the other man, trying to make light of the situation and not victimise Everette. There was nothing he could do. "What happened...It wasn't your fault. You killed someone, yeah, but you killed that person saving me, and for that I will always be in debt to you brother. And yeah, I didn't really appreciate being 'brother on the spit', but I want you to know that its all done, we can't dwell on the past. It will eat you alive. And not in the vampire-biting way either. You need to move past this and come home. Its not the same. I need someone to go drive off and buy me more beer and do the dishes." He grinned softly, hoping Everette would take to his jokes and actually begin to accept what is.

It was typical Xzavier. When things are awkward he cracks the jokes to try and either get a rise out of people or it is a wacky Xzavier way to try and amend everything. He had done it for years, ever since he was a teenager and the monsters had popped out from under the bed, and he always found a way to make Ev smile or laugh. He found it hard to do both at all in this situation. With every step her took closer to Xzavier, the guiltier he felt. The smell of ashes as he burnt that man alive, the darkness he felt when he tried to kill Xzavier and all the rest. He didn't want it, he didn't like it and he fully regretted it. Blood covered his life, and he had tried to get past it. But walking in here with the leather jacket and humorous charm was a constant reminder, and Ev just looked at him with the most saddest expression. "Yeah.... Um, I - I don't really...". Was all he could say as he looked at him.
When he tried to reminisce on the past about Ev's toy, he didn't smile or rejoyce the good but just looked at Xzavier. Feeling an intense frustration with himself and everything, he clenched his fists and tried to pretend their was a stressball in his hand. But sighing, he said a not stuttered sentence to his brother. "All thoughts to Mr Cakki, but I guess I break all the toys now". With a sigh he turned and walked towards the stand by the counter as Xzavier moved their two. Adjusting the stock, making it look like he is doing something he tried to look busy so he didn't get put in that kind of situation again. That is when the most avoided issue rose, and Xzavier tried to tell him that it wasn't his fault and he is basically forgiven. "I liked it". Silence ensure as he turned to Xzavier, a tear in his eye as he looked at him, lip shaking.
"Taking the breath out of that guy, burning every molecule of his being in seconds and - trying to kill you. It was all easy. There is a darkness in me, and I can feel it. It isn't like Axel killing that guy, it was pure rage and it wasn't me, I swear. I have power, Xzav, that most dream about. It might not measure up to some but I can do anything. I almost killed you, and your my family. And I wanted to, and could have. There is nothing - NOTHING, good left inside of me". He said aggressively as he turned back to the stock as a tear ran down his cheek, but he quickly wiped it off with his sleeve. When he heard Sarz scream out for attention and the beach in a high pitched shrill, the frustration inside him broke loose. The moving stand slammed still, and he rose a hand towards the back door. The door slammed shut with a bang, locking as a bookcase slid across the ground and in front of the door. And he didn't really want to do that, but once done he lowered his hand and looked back to the stand.

Everette wasn't really helping the conversation flow with his depressive comments. And that meant that he had to carry the conversation, which he wasn't liking the idea of very much. He wasn't the "talker" in the family. He wasn't the sensitive one who was all touchy sharey with his feelings, he was usually hiding them. He didn't enjoy talking about feelings very often, he always saw it as a sign of weakness. He was supposed to look out for his brothers, and by showing that sensitive side of him, he was being vulrunable, which meant that he was putting his family in danger. He needed to be strong, not only for himself, but for his brothers also; his family.
He nodded his head softly at Everette's comment. "Maybe. But at least your breaking the evil toys now." Maybe the humorous comments weren't the best timing right now, but it was just a natural thing for him; to throw humor at people in order to cheer them up. He wasn't the type who would hug someone or talk about feelings with them, so this would just have to be the closest thing. Hopefully it would be just as successful. "You know what we signed up for, Ev. Fighting vampires...Fighting against all of the things we face. You may not like it, heck I don't, but its kill or be killed. You can't hold judgement when fighting these things...You just have to act on your own instincts. And you did. Sure, it got pretty out of hand...But we signed up for this. The evil, the death, the pain, the suffering, all of it." He sighed softly, no longer cracking the humorous jokes. The world wasn't always roses, shit like this does happen and theres nothing they can do about it, especially in the line of work they are involved in.
When Everette admitted that he liked it, Xzavier inhaled gently, putting his head down for a second, before looking back up at his brother firmly. "And you know what, I like beating the crap out of vampires, and demons. Are you calling me a bad person now? You may have killed someone Ev, but what is the difference between someone like that, and a vampire? You think Axel is a bad person for enjoying beating the hell out of vampires? I see it in his eyes, Ev, he enjoys it just as much as I do. That doesn't make us bad." Sure, Axel's situation was different to that of Everette, but the morality behind it still remains. There was only black and white in this line of work; good, and evil. This isn't typical criminals who murder people, this is people knowingly working for supernatural evil which seeks to destroy everything. He wasn't angry at Everette for killing one of them, he was angry at Everette for letting this get to him; for degrading himself for a choice he made, not able to accept the consequences of his actions.
"You just admitted it yourself, Ev. It wasn't you, so stop hanging yourself up over this. We all have rage inside us, and sometimes it makes its way to the surface. You just need to fight it, for yourself. You think the powers that be would give you this destiny if you weren't cut out for it, or you were going to fall into the darkness? They had faith in you, just like I have faith in you." He continued eyeing the other man sternly, hoping he was getting through to the other man. He had to, he needed his brother. Axel was off gallavanting with Eli and being all rogue vampire hunter, and he was left picking up the pieces.

Xzavier saw things to simple. He tried to cheer him up, and he appreciated it but as he looked at him, he knew that Xzavier was grasping at straws to find a way to make things better now. But they couldn't be. Ev didn't just kill a bad guy, he killed a person. A criminal driven nuts by whatever impact the portal had on the area. The portal that he and Jace helped open because they were reckless and in a way - Selena one on that part. The tear rolled down his cheek again but he wiped it but Xzavier tried to justify, and Ev just looekd at him and was getting much more frustrated. It was too different. Vampires and demons were one thing, it was their destiny. There destiny wasn't justified by being able to murder people. But the difference? Didn't Ev have an answer for that. "The difference? A soul. A family. A life was taken and it wasn't his fault. We allowed that portal to be open, my blood made the evil influence over those criminals. Probably shop lifter or whatever, but they didn't deserve to die. Axel killed a bad guy by mistake, what I did was anything but unintentional. I wanted to rip him apart inside out until their was nothing left in him, and I did. I'm not a good guy". He said as he turned away from him and went to walk away, but Xzavier wasn't finished.
He wanted to use the 'Powers That Be' metaphor. When he said it, and about faith in him and all that bullshit that meant nothing, he turned back around towards him. He was now getting frustrated. He might be a sensitive guy, but this was a convo he definitely wasn't eager about. Especially if it came to this legendary power that be crap. "It's not the powers that be Xzav, just kids messing with stuff they shouldn't. Our ancestors did this too me, I didn't want it. I didn't like it but they did it. They turned Axel's life upside down and what about us, what about Lana. All of our parents are dead because of this. So don't make this about faith". With that, he turned and moved towards the psychic's den to tidy up before closing. He didn't want to deal with this, but he was lying. He liked magic, maybe a little bit too much. It was too easy to access, and to potent to mess with. He had lived with that rule, always telling Kyra to be careful and now he was the dangerous one. Before disappearing, he turned back to Xzavier. "If you want to help a brother, then try Axel. He needs our support right now more then - anything else. Try talking to him". He wanted out, and picked up a cloth and spray and started cleaning the tablet. If Xzavier would leave would be determined, even though talking this out was far past due.

Xzavier sighed. He really wasn't sure how to help Everette in this situation. He hadn't killed anyone before; he had beat people up, but clearly there was a massive difference. He didn't know what he could possibly say to get Everette out of this mess, as maybe there wasn't even a way for him to get out of this mess. He gritted his teeth softly. He wished Everette would stop beating himself up over this; if not for his own well being, but for everyone elses. "You can't just beat yourself up over everything that happens. People are going to die; maybe by our own hands, maybe as a result of us not getting to them in time...Theres nothing we can do about that. We aren't Gods...We are just gifted. There is only so much we can do, and even so much we can handle, but we handle it!" It frustrated him seeing his brother torn like this, it really did. Everette was always the clear of mind; the good guy. Seeing him like this was something unseen before; it scared him, and also worried him too.
He paused for a moment, catching his breath in thought. "If the opportunity came by, I would've done the exact same thing as you, to keep you safe. Why? Because your my brother; my family. And I don't care about the rest, so quit burdening yourself with it!" It may be worrying that Everette enjoyed killing the man, but in a way it was to be expected with them being gifted with powers, they tend to control you a little too much at times. He just needed to learn how to manage the powers and overcome the struggles he was facing. He would be there for Everette, but if Everette wasn't willing to overcome these struggles and control his magic, then maybe he isn't the man he watched grow up from a child to where he is today.
He continued staring at Everette as he spoke. "You think I wanted this, either? You think I enjoy risking my life every single day to help people out, do you think I enjoy the broises and the wounds which come with the job? You may not see it the same way, but this destiny gives me a purpose; a meaning. I'm not just sitting on my ass all day watching bad soap operas and drinking beer; I'm out there helping people who need my help. Our help." Even though the destiny could be a burden, he wasn't just going to give up because the times were hard.
As Everette spoke of Axel, and their parents, then went about looking busy again, Xzavier walked over and grabbed the other man's arm, turning the man towards him. "Hey, don't just turn away from me like that. And don't bring our parents into this. Axel may need help, but he needs our help, not just mine. So, are you just going to continue beating yourself up, or help your brother, like I'm trying to do now. He turned to a vampire over us, does that make you feel like a good brother right now? Well how the hell do you think I feel? I go to sleep at night playing out a different scenario where you didn't need to resort to killing anyone. And a different scenario where I stopped the man before Axel mistakenly killed him. I'm supposed to be the one looking after you guys, and now I have two brothers who don't want to talk." He continued staring at Everette. Maybe he was a little harsh, but it seemed to be the only way of getting through to him. He did feel guilty for what happened not only with Everette, but also with Xzavier.

It was no use. Xzavier could not see it as Ev did. It wasn't just killing someone; it was more. The deathly feeling of having no control, that the power flowing in and out of your soul is not really you. It is something in him, deep inside that rises. It is anything but good, but maybe it was always there. When he killed demons, saved people using the magic from his own hand it used to feel good. But maybe it just felt good, where the reality was that he was feeling evil. He knew one thing; it was something that he did, but he didn't actually do. It was this something in him, but Xzavier couldn't understand. Ev couldn't sweep this under the rug, go study and then kill some demons. He had to find a wayy to control this, and right now he was feeling anything but being in control. "It is no excuse, I killed him. You are making this out like it doesn't matter but Xzav, it does. The whole thing, everything that is happening. All this bullshit fucking with everyone's lives is because of me. I can't fix it, I can't change what happened and believe me, I have sat in my room chanting for hours trying to change what happened - but it never works. And not because I don't want it too, but because I can't. Because there is something inside me that wanted that fucker deader then the abyss. How do you explain that?"
Ev had turned when Xzavier tried to put himself in his shoes. But he still didn't get it, but Ev was starting too. It wasn't the fact if Ev wanted to kill him or didn't. He was taken over by something else, it wasn't him. The magic was strong but that feeling, it was like darkness flooded through him and he couldn't control it. So hearing that Xzavier would have killed someone to save Ev would have meant something, but that wasn't what happened. But as he went to clean up, he felt the strong clutch of Xzavier's hand on his arm. He grunted as he was spun around towards him, eyes still kind of watering. "Do you not think I know this? I would love for us to be one big family but we are not. And yeah Xzav, mom and dad were killed by vampires okay. The supernatural did it, we are the supernatural. What makes me any better then a vamp or demon after what I did. I - I didn't want to kill him. But I had no choice. I mean, I litterally had no control. The magic took over, it killed the men and nearly you while I stood in the side lines. And also -". His teeth gritted. He was not upset or reminising on bad choices, he was just pissed. That was when everything went cold. It felt like Ev was dropping backwards, trying to look through his own eyes but couldn't.
A black coloring dropped over Ev's eyes, black at the deepest sea as he looked at Xzavier, standing still. The hand that touch his arm was surged with a low voltage of crackling electrical magic to get him off of him. Ev felt like he was astral projecting, and something else was going on. He felt like the magic was taking over, and it really was. Ev stared at his older brother as the wind picked up in the room. Dream catchers and sheets flickered in the wind as Ev sent a telekinetic nudge at his older brother. It was intended to shoot the guy backwards with no doubt, and after sending it the magic really started. Ever surface in the shop caught fire. Flames licked into the air, engulfing products as smoke his the ceiling. Ev smirked as he looked around, the fire surrounding them as he looked to Xzavier. "- it looks like your the one that needs the help now ..... bro". Ev smirked as he rose both hands, the flames combusting and sending ash and chunks of burning wood towards Xzavier. Ev's conscious sat behind the uncontrollable wheel, and looked at what the magic was doing. "I have control, I am in control. I can do this. I can. Xzavier! Run! Run X, Run!" But nothing could be heard....
