His hand gripped hers and she pulled him up to her level giving him a smile as the questions started coming. She knew that once she showed him what he could do, he’d have more questions, but that was what she wanted. She wanted him to see all the possibilities. All the things that could make him stronger and more powerful. He reminded her of herself a few years back. Scared, helpless, and looking for a way out. This was his way out, and there was no doubt that Thayer had connections. Yeah she was helping him out in the long run, but in all honestly his well-being wasn’t the first thing that pushed her determination to do this for him. He had the ability to take over an evil firm who apparently had the same enemy as Emery, the trinity brothers. If she could sway Thayer to believe that if the brothers were gone none of the things that had happened to him would have taken place, she could easily kill the brothers and her demon wouldn’t even know that she wasn’t the one to do it. All she had to do was kill all three of them, and she’d be okay. Her demon wasn’t normally impatient about things, but with the brothers, he was very adamant about getting the job done which led Emery to believe that they were a threat to him in the future. Either way, Emery was screwed if she didn’t kill them. If Thayer didn’t fall victim to her manipulation skills, she’d have to find another way to kill them or her demon would strip her powers from her and make her go back to being nothing. If the trinity brothers happened to kill her demon, her powers would again be stripped from her. Getting him to understand himself was the first step to anything.
”He wasn’t dead yet. I’m not going to lie, he was almost there, but you’re energy is the strongest thing you possess. You’d be surprised what you can do with it, Thayer. If his heart had stopped beating, that wouldn’t have been at all possible.” Emery paused for a second to think of an analogy to use to help him understand. ”Okay, say your car dies, and this hot guy pulls up next to you on the side of the road to help you out with spark plugs. That spark plug is you, and the car is the person you almost killed. You don’t want them to die, you use those spark plugs.” He had paused by now probably just thinking about everything that had just happened. She could tell he was becoming a bit overwhelmed which was not a good thing. She needed him to stay with her through all of this. To not slack off and take what she had to say in without having issues with it. It had taken him a while to actually respond, but he did. She grinned at him giving him a pat on the back. ”That’s the spirit! That is exactly what I was hoping you’d say. That little trick right there? Yeah, not so easy. We have to work on your focus first which will mean more instances like that happening I imagine. But I’ll be here each time, okay? So, you’ll get to that point eventually.” Emery watched him as he sat at the kitchen table. At least he had come right out and asked her for help which obviously meant that the little scene that had just played out had worked to her advantage even though she was quite drained. Emery moved over to the table slowly inching herself into the seat across from him. She moved her hand through her dark waves. ”We keep working at this, you’ll be as bad ass as me in no time.” She joked flashing him a soft smile.

Thayer was comfortable as Emery explained him how everything worked. How she managed to revive the guy, how she managed to do it all. Thayer was curious, Thayer wanted to learn more about how he could do this all. It would mean he won’t kill anyone anymore. She promised to be by his side every step of the way. He was happy to hear that, he needed a friend; he needed someone who could help him with his abilities, someone who understood him. “I would really like that, I would really want to do that all. Being able to get someone’s energy, and not kill them, I did that a lot in the past. A whole lot” Thayer sighed, he knew he never meant to hurt anyone but if Emery could help him, he would be able to clean up any mess he could make. But then she suggested that he could be bad ass as her, but did he want that, did he want to be as confident and bad as Emery, all he wanted to be able to control himself if he did. Though he tried to brush it off a bit, he wanted to learn to revive people, which was important. “Yeah, I guess so, with a great teacher like yourself” He smiled slightly.
But it was still worrying; still the back of his mind, all this Selena being dead thing, was it real? Was it true? He couldn’t believe it, it all seemed surreal, find out who his mother is and then finds out she’s dead, it felt anti-climatic. “But I’m not sure about Selena, her death, could it be real? What if it’s all a lie, just to get at me? Just so she could mess with me again, lure me into danger” that never escaped his mind, It was all worrying, it really was, he knew Selena was not one to mess with and she could really kill him in a heartbeat, but if she was dead, he wished he could tell her goodbye, tell her how happy he was to be her son, though he assumed she would be disappointed with him. “I just don’t understand why she suggested telling me this now, telling me after she was gone. I wish I could tell her goodbye, I wish…I’m sorry, I’m such a downer” He tried smiling at her slightly, though the concern could be seen on his face, that he wasn’t himself after all that has happened to him thus far.

AS EMERY:
It was nice to know that Thayer was on board. She wasn’t for sure if her bait would take, but it seemed to be working. Thayer was interested in her help and believed that she could really help him. That was all that Emery cared about, even though he did have to make yet another reference to him killing people and feeling bad about it. Emery refrained from rolling her eyes yet again. She had to keep in mind that one day, one day him feeling bad about killing people wouldn’t even be an issue. In fact, she was hoping that he’d eventually start to enjoy it more than feel guilty about it. It would happen, but it would just take a bit of time.
Emery shook her head with a grin when he implied that she was going to be a great teacher. Oh was he getting all mushy just because she was pretending to help him? How sweet. ”Yes, a great teacher that needs to get her strength back up like pronto. Rule number two, only do what you can. Seriously, if you take too much, it can hurt ya sort of like a drug. If you give too much, it can kill you sort of like blood.”
His smile only lasted briefly though as he started to talk about Selena. Emery had no idea what he was going through. To her it was a waste of time feeling sad about family members dying, but that was just because Emery really never had family that was good to her. To be honest, this Selena chick didn’t seem all that great to Thayer anyways. But it was whatever. If he needed to get over her to move forward, then Emery would work with that. ”Hey,” she said moving her hand across the table towards him, ”You may not be able to understand why she told you this right now, but there is a way you can say goodbye to her.” Emery pushed herself up making sure to take her time. She glanced down at Thayer. “Come on. I have an idea.”
