Rodney sat on his bed in his dorm room fidgeting up a storm. Why was this happening to him? He was never like this. He was always one of the guys that people enjoyed being around especially in a crazy situation because they knew he’d always be cool, calm, and collective about things. But not when it came to Marina. Nope. That was something that Rodney was still trying to get used to. When she was involved, nothing seemed cool, calm, or collective. And even in this situation, Marina wasn’t even going to be in the same room as him. In fact, her father probably had her locked up in her tower waiting for the barber to come cut her hair so she wouldn’t be able to let it down for Rodney to climb up. She may not have been in the room, but she was going to be the center of Rodney’s end of the conversation tonight. Both her and her father. But Rodney was a good friend. He’d let Axel go first and speak his crazy news because he was sure he had some as well. And then once Axel’s turn was up, Rodney could have a turn. He hadn’t really talked to Axel much at all. When Rodney was home, Axel wasn’t. That was how it had always been. But now, Rodney had actually had other things to do, so when Axel was home, Rodney would never be either. He’d become friends with quite a few interesting people this semester who had been keeping him very busy. But tonight was Axel night. And not just because he wanted to talk to Axel about quite a few serious issues, but because no matter what happened, he knew Axel was always going to be a good friend of his. In fact, he’d go so far as to say his best friend. And in all honestly, he had missed his best friend. Rodney could see himself changing into someone that was more social and outgoing, which is something Axel had been trying to do for Rodney for a long time. It’d be nice to show his friend that things were looking up for him. He just hoped things were going well for Axel too.

He hadn't been back to the dorm for a few days, he supposed now was probably a good time to do so. He felt bad, for leaving Rodney there alone so unexpectedly and on such short notice. But so much had happened recently. He had killed someone! How could he look Rodney in the eye after doing that, when Rodney asks where he was all night? He had blood all over him, he couldn't risk anything. Rodney was probably his best friend, but coming home like that, that was just something different altogether. And he didn't know how Rodney would react to such a thing. It was probably best for everyone if he didn't find out.
Walking in the door, he wore his signiture black leather jacket and one of Eli's shirts, seeing as his was all...Bloody and all. Lucky the blood came off of his leather jacket, that was the only real valuable clothing item he had. He brushed his hair with his hand, as he looked over at Rodney. "Hey..." He said softly, smiling gently at the boy, slightly awkwardly. He wasn't the best at hiding things from others, that was for sure. "Wasn't sure if you would have been home, its been a while." He pulled off his jacket and dumped it on his bed as he saw on his bed, facing Rodney but not having his head facing upwards towards the other man. So much had happened, he just wanted things to go back to how they were, and he wanted things to be good between him and Rodney, acting like they used to. It just seemed so difficult to act anything right now.
He sighed softly, as he looked up at Rodney. "You don't mind if I just get some sleep now, do you? Had a rough few days, just need some rest. I feel terrible, with us not having a chance to catch up much, at all lately." He was sure the less conversation he would be involved with would work out better for him anyway. Maybe he should have just stayed with Eli, would've been much easier. It was something that had been touching on his mind lately.

Finally, the door to their room opened, and Rodney looked up from the rug in the middle of the floor that he had been staring at. Rodney gave Axel a smile. “You got that right. It’s been a long while.” Rodney wasn’t stupid. He always had a good eye for problems. He knew something had either happened to Axel tonight or something had been going on just in general by the way he spoke to Rodney. Not that what he had said was mean or anything, but Rodney could just tell that something wasn’t right. He could have sworn he had some sort of empathy ability or something. How else could he explain the vibes that he would get from people? But of course that was impossible. And when Axel took off his black leather jacket and sat down on the bed facing Rodney but not making eye contact with him, Rodney was almost positive that there was something that Axel was dealing with. He didn’t seem at all like normal Axel. It almost seemed as if the smile he had given Rodney when he first walked in the room was forced. And he looked exhausted and completely drained of all emotion.
When Axel finally raised his head to look at Rodney, Rodney could see that maybe Axel wasn’t really up for talking tonight. And as Axel spoke, Rodney’s assumptions were correct. Axel explained that he was pretty beat. “Oh no man, I know what you mean. Things have been crazy lately, and it seems we’ve both been in our own little worlds.” Rodney nodded. He didn’t want Axel to go to sleep. He wanted to talk to him and figure out what was going on. He was actually starting to feel like something serious was really going on with him. He was a bit worried for his friend. But if Axel didn’t want to talk about it, he wasn’t going to make him. He just wanted him to know that he could. “Well, I was kinda hoping we could do some catching up tonight. But if you aren’t feeling up to it, I understand. We can always make plans for a different day.” Rodney’s life had been hectic too lately especially with all the plans that he had been contemplating. He knew that if he didn’t talk to Axel tonight, it would probably be a long time before either of them had the time or could make the effort to talk again.
