Connor was running as fast as he could, the world around him seemed like an endless blur of terrible photos. He had to get to her, he had to make sure that everything was going to be okay. When he rounded the corner that the manor sat on, Connor wasted no time in running to the front door, his hand knocking with a supernatural speed. From the sound of the knock one could tell that there was a sense of urgency in it, he was freaking out entirely. Only just hours ago he found out that the woman he loved was sitting on top of one of the most dangerous monsters he had ever known.
"Merry, let me in! Merry!" he called out, hoping that she was home. The sun would be up in a few hours, but he would risk anything to save her from Anneliese. Even thinking her name brought rage to his mind, wanting to smash her into oblivion. Tonight would be the night where everything came to fruition, where he would be free of her one way or another. If he couldn't kill Anne, she would kill him, or he would drag them both into the sunlight. Even if it was the only way he could protect her, Connor would give his life to save Merry from becoming just another victim to an ancient child.
Reaching under his jacket, he held tightly to an object that he could use to fight her off. Now he just had to get Merry to open the door and let him in. Would Robert follow him here? He hoped not, though he knew that he would be wrong, Robert would try to save Anne. He was a peace keeper it seemed, one that was foolishly endangering the lives of his family. What did he hope to do if Anne decided that his family was on the menu? Nothing, there was nothing anyone could do except Noah.

Merry ran down the stairs as Connor knocked on the door, "Connor, come in what's wrong?" she said as she opened the door and looked into his eyes in utter confusion. She was in a blue silk nightgown and matching robe, her hair down her back in curls that came past her rear. "Are you okay?" she asked sleepily as she brushed her sleep tossed hair out of her eyes and looked at him. There was the smear of drool on her cheek where she'd been sleeping and she shyly brushed it away. "I thought you were still mad at me?" she said as she tried to take in his urgency, she let him slip past her. Her dark eyes confused.
He' d said horrible things to her. He' d hurt her emotionally and she'd thought he'd hated her. Not that she was ever sure he liked her. He was always saying things to shove her away from him even as he showed up every night at her window. She just didn't understand. If he wanted her away from him why didn't he just leave?
She could live a thousand lifetimes and never know what to expect from him. He drove her nuts he was always driving her away and then pulling her back and she didn't know what to do. She rubbed her temples as a headache began to form. "Connor, I'm sorry I hurt you. I never meant to." she said this sadly as her shoulders slumped.

Connor wasted no time as he crossed the threshold, looking around. Removing a piece of paper from his jacket, he started to write something down for her. There was no way he could say it aloud, Anne would be able to hear it, nor could he think it or else she would hear that as well. His hand danced across the paper until he was content that he had explained the situation with one hundred percent clairity.
Your father is harboring our sire in the basement. I can't tell you what I'm going to do or she'll hear it. If you think about it for too long she'll hear that too. After reading this swap your thoughts to something else, anything else. I came here to take care of the situation, I need your help to do it. You have to help me make her vulnerable somehow. If we don't it's only a matter of time before she snaps and hurts everyone you care about.
Handing her the note, Connor removed the stake from his coat as he crept about. He looked around corners slowly, wondering if she had already picked up on his motives. She could be anywhere, at anytime, for all he knew she was in the room with them and simply faster than he could follow. There was nothing but fear in his mind, fear for Merry's saftey, fear that he would fail here tonight and it would rebound on whatever was left alive in the mansion.
"What happened the other night doesn't matter now, it didn't matter then. Something was wrong with us, I'm convinced." he said aloud, drawing close enough to hug her. Perhaps it would help take her mind off of all that was to happen here tonight. "Do you think you can help me?" he asked, tapping the note that he had relinquished to her.

Merry watched him write the note, tying her robe closed and waking up a little more as she closed and locked the door behind him out of habit. She padded over to the cabinet and got down two mugs, making some coffee and putting sugar and milk in her own cup before looking to him.
Making her way over to him she presented him with a cup of coffee and read the note. Her facial expression didn't change after she'd read it but she did nod to him to let him know she understood, "How's your coffee?" she asked casually as she tried to keep their thoughts on calm things.
Mentally Merry tried to soothe him as she always did. It was second nature to her but it also kept him from thinking about what he was going to do which protected him. As he paced she began pulling down some herbs and items from a cabinet that was separated out. She pulled down what looked like a doll but it had nothing to indicate the sex of it. It was palm sized. She grabbed down what looked like a bottle of water and proceeded to set things on the counter for the spell she was going to cast. She hummed softly as if she was cooking and perhaps she was at least her thoughts seemed to lean in that direction. She pulled out two boxes of sawdust from an ash tree and set them down on the counter.
Hugging him gently, she nodded, nuzzling his cheek, "Of course I can help you." she said as she looked at him and smiled softly, keeping her thoughts away from the topic. "I'll need a few moments of setup." she said to him as she looked into his eyes. She sipped her coffee and began setting items into a bowl on the counter setting candles of the four cardinal colors at four points equaldistant from the copper bowl she used. She leaned up and touched his cheek softly, keeping her thoughts soft as she worked, "This will be twofold. Two spells." she did not say what they did or what order they would come in. Kissing his cheek gently she said softly to him, "I'll need a few drops of your blood to make it work." she said the last softly as she wasn't sure how to get said request.

Connor simply stared at her as she handed him a mug of coffee. Everything in him had to work to hold back a chuckle, what the hell was he going to do with a mug of coffee? "Uh.. fine I guess? This might be a bit too uh.. nevermind." he said, setting the coffee down on the table in the kitchen as he watched her. Merry always did things that confused him, as much as he confused her. Perhaps that was why he felt that in the long run, they were a bad idea, he was never very good at being up front with how he felt. She would never been a part of his world, but on the side lines as long as he considered her to be fragile.
Watching her remove all sorts of odd materials, Connor couldn't help but think this felt like some voodoo ritual. He never actually thought Witches had to do all of these things to prepare a spell. From what he knew they could just wave their hand and everything was okay in the end. This was the part where he felt useless, pacing like a caged lion as he watched her set about making his intended victim weaker than him. Connor hoped with everything that he was that it worked, or else no one was safe tonight, not just those inside the house.
"Your father didn't beat me here, did he?" Connor asked, raising his arm to his mouth. Biting down into his own flesh, Connor tore a gash in his arm and offered her the wound. "Anywhere specific?" he asked, she only needed a few drops, he gave her more than that just incase. He assumed that it was because he, Robert, and Anne all sort of shared the same powerful blood. When she had made them, being as old as she was, she had made a pair of monsterous fledglings. Their powers were slightly above a normal newborn, which was why Connor felt he was a danger to Merry.
"After this, I promise I will explain everything with more detail. Right now you just have to trust I am doing the right thing, even if your father says differently." he said softly, looking directly at her. He wasn't using his compulsion, he just wanted her to understand that he was serious about all of this. He knew the danger she presented, and Merry would be able to feel the fear in him that filled him entirely just by the mere thought of standing up to Anneliese. If she probed deep enough, she would find that Connor accepted that he was going to die tonight, but he would take her with him.
"Sorry it's so early, by the way."

"My father can drink coffee I thought maybe you could too." she said softly as she watched him set the coffee down. "I know you don't always understand me." she exhaled softly and began to get to work.
Merry caught the blood in a cup, "I've not seen my dad tonight. I don't think he's here yet." she admitted as she kept the cup of blood separated out and turned back to the bowl. She sprinkled some ash sawdust and a bit of holy water into the bowl and then placed the doll in the middle of it.
She hugged him gently, "This should help." she looked into his eyes, "I just want to help you. If this works the way I hope it will you may want me to cast it on you." she said enigmatically into his ears with a soft whisper of sound. She pulled back and and smiled at him, "Do you trust me?" she looked up into his eyes and cupped his cheek gently before leaning up on tip toes to kiss him. Her lips pressed to his hopefully, her eyes closed as she took this moment for herself. All thoughts of others gone as she focused on the kiss, hoping that for once he would open himself up to her. The love spell was still going off and finally she felt brave enough to speak her mind and pour her soul out to him.
"I don't know if you like me, Connor. I know there is a lot we don't understand about each other but I'm willing to try. And I know you're probably going to say I'm stupid and naive but I care about you. I worry about you and everything thats happened. I want you to know that okay?" her voice was soft when the kiss broke and she was a bit addled from everything but she felt he needed to know how she felt. He'd probably think it was stupid as hell anyway but it needed to be said.

Connor simply shrugged at her, she was trying her best to stay casual about it all he would give her that. He just found the gesture slightly bothersome was all, since it was pointless. "I don't understand alot of people, I wouldn't take it personally." he said, sighing. This vampire thing turned him into a cynical asshole, yet no one wanted to say it to his face.
"That's good. He would only get in our way. I'm sorry, but tonight of all nights if he steps in the way, I'll do what I have to Merry. You understand, right..?" he asked, raising a brow at her. He knew it was a conflict of interest, that she wouldn't want to watch the only family she had left perish, but Connor's aim tonight was right for the heart. He refused to let this monster get away from him a second time, he would sever the head of the serpent right here, right now.
Once more, Connor looked at her puzzled. He had no idea what she meant, but whatever was in that pot he knew that it wasn't for him. Even if she could brew something to make him more normal than he was, would he truly even want it when the time came? He always said he would give anything to be any form of human again, but did he really even mean it anymore? That was a dark question, was the power, the thirst, the control all starting to get to him? "I do.. I want to.." he said, replying quietly. "But your father may be involved, I leave myself open to the possibility that things may not go my way." he said.
When Merry leaned up to kiss him, Connor pulled her in closer out of instinct. He held her there, even kissed her back, however with time his eyes turned black. Even though he wasn't hungry, the more he wanted her, the more he also wanted to eat her. Being this close, her scent, it was a powerful drug. There was a fifty percent chance that he might even just kill her right here, ruin the whole night. Self control was slipping from him, thankfully it was she who managed to somehow pull away from him.
"It's not that I don't like you, Merry. It's just, I'm a dead end. Your fathers right, I'm not good for you. I almost just killed you again right there." he said, looking saddened. "At least right now, I don't think I am able to control myself long enough to be who I need to be." he said, hoping he made some sense to her in any way. "I've never questioned the fact that you care for me, Merry. It's always been about the fear that I will kill you for me, it's not that I don't return the feelings." he said, though as he finished his sentence, there was a flash, he was lifted off of his feet and sent crashing into a cabinet.

They were not as careful as they thought, her fledgling was always letting things slip through his grasp. While she was brushing her hair she had caught wind of some little plan brewing up stairs, she knew that something was wrong with it this time. In a heart beat she threw on some form of clothing, blurred up the steps, and that was where she found them. Lips locked together, she watched as Connor's eyes turned black, filled with hunger, and in that moment she was -almost- proud of him. Yet, he hesitated once more, and that infuriated her more than he would ever understand.
Flashing across the kitchen, Anneliese threw Connor across the room into the cabinet, smiling from ear to ear. "You always were so easy to predict love. Hello dear." she said to Merry, flashing a wicked grin as she rested her hands on the counter. Her eyes were black, just like most vampires, however there was something more unsettling about her gaze. It was as if there was nothing behind it except hunger, the need to kill, and it was finally unchecked without Robert around to cage it.
Most of her cried out, she needed him, she feared what she might do to the only thing left he loved. That was why she hesitated, why Merry would have the time to do whatever she needed to do yet. There was a powerful hesitation in her, that stemmed from the promise she made to Robert to try to be better. She never understood just how it would affect her until now, until she growled loudly, throwing things off the counter onto the floor. It was as if she was fighting something invisible, part of her was willing the body to stay, the other was willing it to kill.
The side that Robert had created in her however broke through for a moment, face a frown. "Whatever you were going to do, do it quickly, please." she cried softly, as if pleading for someone to stop her. However that was over quickly as the wicked grin spread across her face once more. "Tick tock, your time is running out.."

Merry stared back at Anne in horror. Her body moving to protect her spell componants even as she screamed internally because she was face to face with the woman who killed her mother. Connor had been thrown across the room and she stood face to face with her mother's killer. She felt her body shake and she scooped up the stake that Connor had dropped. The ritual materials were in place as was the puppet. Cleans this sacred space so it may rest in thy grace By oak ash and willow tree Guide my hand so mote it be. I call on goodness and light Hear my prayer on this night Heal this soul that has lost her way And make her once more a child of day She chanted the words and drove the stake into the doll and the puppet seemed to writhe and squirm as if it was in pain. It screamed an unearthly scream and a magical wind whipped around the room and sent things that were loose skittering about. The magic of her family's circle pouring into this working, "You killed my mother." she said quietly as she pulled the stake from the doll and then took her ritual dagger from her robe and cut the doll's head off. The symbolic gesture done and all she could do was pray for them all. "All the time I needed." she said as she moved herself back and then put a shield around herself to keep the worst of the debrise from hitting her. The power of the circle flowed through her and she took a defensive stance. "Checkmate game and match." she said with a quiet intensity as she faced off against the woman who had broke her family.

The moment the stake hit the puppet, she knew something was wrong. Her body started to twitch, she even let out an ear splitting scream as the magic ripped through her. Her eye sockets would eminate a bright white glow as she screamed, the light also escaping her mouth as she was fully taken over by the spell. Whatever power Merry had invoked her, it was forcing the soul right back into Anneliese. Not only that, but it took the pieces of her shattered mind and glued them back together. For all intents and purposes, Anne was once more the woman who was abused, the woman before she was locked in the darkness even if she remembered it all.
Lifting off the ground, the wind whipped around her, smashing all things. There was no way now that Robert would be able to ignore this, as she screamed his name through the pain. She felt that wherever he was, he would come running to her side. No matter what she had done, he would understand, he knew that she was not well. That was her sole hope, now that she could feel it, that she would live beyond this moment for a chance at redemption. There were even tears sliding down her face as all the guilt for everything she had done came flooding into her, all the painful memories.
Their screaming faces haunted her, her body trembled with fear due to what she had done. When it was over, she hit the floor curled up in a heap. She was gasping for air, her body unused to the feeling of having to draw a breath. It came in short gasps, the sound of a woman crying now filling the kitchen. She couldn't even move, the guilt was that overwhelming. This was where she would pay for it all, in this moment she would meet her end and no one would come to her aid. Did she deserve any different? Did she honestly excpect mercy for what she had done? It had been done to her first, however unwell she was, couldn't she have stopped?
"It hurts.. please.. I'm so sorry.. make it stop.." she pleaded.

Robert hit the house as the spell took shape. He felt the energies coaless and gather and he did his best to make his way towards Anne. He'd felt and heard everything and he didn't know what to think any more. This broken creature before them had destroyed their family and marred it forever. He exhaled and looked to Anne and then his daughter. Merry curled up in a ball and shivered. She couldn't maintain the anger any more. Instead there were tears.
Robert bent down and scooped Anne up, "Shhh, its okay, Annie. I'm here. I think this is proof enough you've been forgiven. I won't let anyone hurt you." he looked to Merry who was making her way towards Connor to see if he was alright and Robert moved to take Anne back to his rooms, "Revenge never brings back the dead, Anne. I had Marina send my wife on years ago. If you'd been a vampire still I'd probably killed you myself tonight but I will not undo what the lord and lady have wrought this night. You have received a blessing and will have to live with it as best you can."

Groaning quietly as he threw the rubble off of himself, Connor could feel the side of his face healing. In her fury, Anne had all but swiped the skin loose from his face, leaving hanging as it sealed it's self back down to the rest of the skin. "I'm up, I'm up.." he groaned comically, even if there was nothing funny about the situation. If he hadn't seen Merry crawling towards them he would have assumed that it went worse than it had. Though there was a look of concern on his face yet, as he pushed himself up onto his feet.
"What happened? Did the spell kill her?" he asked, looking around at the destruction. He seemed desperate for the answer to be yes, to be rid of her once and for all. Though there was a sinking feeling that told him it wasn't that easy, that and there was one more heart beat now that he could hear in the house. This one was pumping with a pace that suggested fear. His eyes flashed confusion as he looked into Merry's face for the answer to his questions, none of this made sense to him at all.
"Lie to me if you have to, but I need to believe that she's gone. That this is finally over.." he said, leaning against the counter. He was disoriented, he never thought that was even possible for a vampire yet here it was. Out of instinct he drew a deep breath, only to remember that it was irrelevant to him if he did or not while he thought. Looking around for the stake, he found it somewhere nearby, embedded into the body of the tiny doll that Merry had made. What was the purpose of that?
"You didn't put the stake in her actual body? Then how did you destroy her?" he asked once more, it was clear that his mind was set on her end. "Please tell me I didn't trust you to let me down.." he said, though his voice sounded more like it was pleading with her for some sort of answer, anything. He would have to give her the chance to respond to her first, he kept asking a new question as it popped into his mind. It was clear that no one was truly sure of what had come to pass here, that they might have just made history if anyone was around to see it.
"Merry, are you okay?"

Merry looked up at him from a kneeling position, "You're hurt. Let me make something. It won't take long..." the kitchen was a mess. Her eyes looked a bit shocky as she looked back up at him and then rose. Careful of the debris. The crunch of glass meeting her ears as she stood and went to look for a broom.
"The spell weakened her as you asked." she said as she looked at him and bit her lip, "She killed my mother, Connor. No one ever said she was a vampire let alone my dad's sire. She had to have tricked him and played him all this time into thinking he'd find the person that killed Mom." she began to shake and leaned on the counter for support as she felt the adrenalin start to fade.
"The Anneleise you knew is gone. She will never again be what she was. I saw to that much." she whispered softly as she shook harder. Memories were coming back to her and she sobbed silently. Her face was tear stained as she hugged herself.
"I thought the spell would vanquish her and send her spirit to be reincarnated. I wanted to cure her of the vampirism so that she could start paying for all the karma she had accrued from her butchering for centuries. I worded it so it would seek justice and I prayed it would show me a sign that I could help you." She was babbling as she spoke to him. Her own thoughts scattered as she was barely upright herself.
"I'm okay. I cast the spell before she could hurt me. She asked me to do it. She begged me to do it, Connor. She thought she was going to die and she was ready for it and so was I but the spell...."
She felt her knees buckle from exhaustion and she leaned against his legs as she felt the world starting to blur at the edges. "Forgive me...Connor...I've never done a spell like that. I left it to the heavens to assist me and my circle...." she was afraid he'd be furious.
"The spell turned her human." the world went gray and she leaned against him more as she began to babble. Her body was exhausted. "I want to cast it on you if you let me. I want you to have a life again. Even if its not with me. I want you to have a happy life. To love and grow old and have babies. You deserve that, Connor. I want to give it back to you."

"Merry, Merry!" Connor said a bit more firmly, taking her hand to stop her from trying to whip something up. She was tired and most likely in shock from what she had come face to face with, otherwise she would have realizing making something to heal a wounded vampire was pointless. A few seconds later, his wounded face would start to mend it's self right before their eyes, returning to it's original state. Tonight had shaken her up pretty badly, he should have never brought the fight right to her door step like he had. This was exactly why Noah warned them about attachements to mortals.
"If it weakened her, then where is she?" he asked, raising his brow as he looked around at the destruction. He heard what she said about her family, and from the moment he knew that she and Robert were connected he figured as much. There was a sympathetic look in his eyes as if it was somehow his fault, and it probably was. If he had just become the monster that she wanted, she would have never went in search of another who could give her what she wanted.
When he found out that her punishment was being human, he was furious. That was a gift, not a curse, and now he wanted nothing more than to slit her throat. How could the gods see fit to turn such a monster into something he longed to be so much? He knew however that there was no way that he would ever be able to become human himself. The very same spell might not work the same way twice, plus he would never ask Merry to go through the physical cost of casting the spell again.
"It's okay Merry, you were only trying to help.." he said as he picked her up into his arms. "Let's try and get you into bed, alright?" he said, rage burning in his blood. In a heart beat he would be up the stairs, standing at the edge of her bed as he put her into it so that she might rest. After all, he had disturbed her the first time. Though, even with Anne human he didn't trust that she was safe at all, so he looked around the room for somewhere that he could stay while she slept. "I'm going to stay with you tonight, alright?" he asked, looking down at her with a longing to lay next to her like an actual man might.
"Don't worry about me, Merry. Fate happens to all of us, maybe this is just what I am suppose to be.." he said, sounding bitter. That happy life she wished for him was what both he and Robert wanted her to have. He was standing in the way of that however, so during the night he would have to muster up enough courage to hurt her. He decided he would leave a note stating that he had lost his way, that he walked into the sunlight, and then he would vanish, keeping a watchful eye on her from a distance.
"Just try and rest, I'll be right here.." he said, climbing under her bed to protect himself from the light that would eventually enter.

Merry nodded quietly as she looked at him and hugged him gently, "Thank you for coming to protect me." she said softly to him as she tried to stay upright and then felt him scoop her up as he made his way up to her bedroom, "The house is a mess it needs to be cleaned up." she murmured as he tucked her in.
She undid her robe and then crawled under the covers more on instinct than on sight. The cobalt blue lighting up her features and adding a depth to her hair as she looked up at him. "Of course you can stay. You saved my life." She wasn't going to be mean and send him outside. He could pick up how she wanted to curl up with him, her eyes matching that longing. He needed comfort and she wanted to give it.
"Connor, don't talk like that you're meant to do good things. You protected us from that woman and gave us the chance to make sure she didn't hurt any more people. Please, don't tear yourself down like that. You never let me do it so don't do it to yourself. She touched his cheek and moved into a kneeling position before she kissed him briefly on the lips. She knew better than to do it for too long. Smiling softly she crawled under the covers and watched him crawl under the bed, "You want a pillow spider monkey?" she said to him teasingly before she laid down and closed her eyes.
