Zach felt like he was back in high school all over again. Those moments where he would try to talk to Axel or Jayla, and they would avoid him completely. It was crazy how things changed for the worst after he had broken up with Jacinta. He and Axel had been pretty close before then. They were on some of the same sports teams. They had done some pretty crazy things together. It was almost like they were wingmen most of the time. But the last time they had spoken, it was a nightmare. It was actually on the field which was even worst. Axel definitely showed Zach how he felt about what he had done to Jace. He almost punched him in the process, but luckily the coach intervened. And Jayla? Well, Jayla had only been friends with him because of Jace. He never really got to know her as well as he would have liked, but it was a possible friendship that never ended up happening because of the decision he had made. And now, he was standing in front of all three of them which was becoming quite a bit awkward.
And then when Jace finally spun around and faced him, the element of surprise was definitely present. It was obvious by her blank look that pretty much said everything and nothing at the same time. All that she managed to say was his name, and even that was a bit hesitated. But what could she say? The guy that broke her heart was standing right in front of her after not seeing her or talking to her for about a year. He was expected to see a bit of anger or something, but he didn’t see anything. Her eyes were just locked on him, and he was trying to think of something to say.
He shifted his weight onto his right leg to gesture back to the counter. “I was over there buying some lunch and I…heard your voice.” He sighed. “Hi.” He glanced back down at Axel and Jayla who were sitting at the table. He was really hoping they wouldn’t say anything against him right now. But Jayla was sitting there, so he wasn’t for sure he’d get away from that.

Jayla's reaction was basically the same as his own reaction as Zachary walked onto the scene. Although Zachary and him were already on the football team prior to him dating Jacinta, he only really became friends with him when he was hanging around Jacinta more. The same went for Jayla, who really didn't speak to him at all before the two dated, and probably didn't even speak too much to him while the two dated. It was an awkward situation, seeing Jacinta's reaction to seeing him. He understood it would be extremely difficult, he was her first major relationship after all, that was always the killer and the hardest.
He looked over at Zachary as he begun to speak to Jacinta, and then to everyone, at least it seemed. He nodded softly in response, not really sure what he was supposed to say in this kind of situation. Was it one of those moments where Jacinta and Zachary needed some 'alone time' to talk about things? Did they really need that anyway? They were over, they had plenty of those moments back in high school, at least one would think. What else could they say to eachother that couldn't be said by all of them? Taking another bite of his pizza, he hoped maybe by remaining silent the whole time, it would all sort itself out? At least thats what he hoped for, anyway.
He gulped down the rest of his pizza, getting up and smiling at them all. "Hey, I gotta run, anyway. Got a thing I need to go sort out. It was awesome catching up with you guys. Heres my new number, hopefully I'll see you around uni sometime, or we can all catch up. Like old times." He smirked softly as he wrote down his number on a napkin and put it in the middle of the table for them to fight over. He gave everyone a wave, walking past Zachary as he left, placing a hand on the man's shoulder, smiling softly as he passed the man. It had been a while, he wasn't one to hold grudges, no matter what an idiot the boy was. There were more surreal things happening, like catching up with his brothers about something they wanted to discuss.

When Jace said 'Room 2', Jayla just smirked. ”'Cause I don't think two pizzas are really gonna fit.. She joked, as she looked at the girl who had so long been her best friend in the entire world and she hoped still was. No exaggeration there. “But, we can always share of course.. Oh, who am I kidding, I'm your roommate.”
When Jace noticed Zach too, she just started feeling uncomfortable and thus decided to finish her pizza further. If she were to do anything but that, she was certain she would get up and hit Zach, who now most definitely wanted some alone time with Jace, which she wasn't sure whether or not to give her.
When Axel said he had to go, she looked at him with a slightly alarmed look in her eyes, that basically told him; 'Don't leave me alone with these two!', before she smiled. ”Axe, would you mind if I joined you?” Before she would hit Zachary in the face and be kicked out of the pizzeria.

The joy of Jayla being her roommate, of reuinting with her best friends in the whole world had been thrown out of the window with Zach's presence. She looked at him, and he hadn't changed. The style, the eyes, the presence. Being a witch, getting vibes from people wasn't unknown. Something about aura's and stuff, Kyra once told her that. And Jace could feel her aura and essence crossing his from the few feet apart that they had. She wasn't sure what to do though? Tell him to stick it or turn him into a toad. Or maybe - just maybe - run into his arms and pretend that everything is okay. That what happened between them remained a fairytale. Their were no witches or complications, and it was just them. Even she knew that wasn't possible.
When he spoke first, she took in a small gasp. Still the hopeless romantic, and it made her smile slightly. She shouldn't but she did. But she could easily tell that Axel and Jayla were feeling a bit uncomfortable. He wanted to go, and Jace opened her mouth. She really wanted him to stay with her, but quickly she stopped her words. Maybe ammending their past was good, and Jayla thought so too as she wanted to leave with them. She gave her girlfriend a smile as they proceeded, and she looked back to Zach. What to say , what to say.
''How have you been?''. She asked, trying to smile a little bit. She decided to sit, but looking at the table she saw Axel's number on the napkin as it floated in the air. She sighed as she looked at the paper hovering, and she really didn't mean to do it. Quickly, she focused as it fell to the table as she drew a breath. What a great thing to happen with this particular person right?

When Axel told the group that he was leaving to go sort out ‘a thing’, Zach just assumed it was a lame ass excuse to get out of the situation as awkward as it would probably turn out to be. And Jayla seemed to have the same idea. She was almost begging him to let her come along with him. He was okay with that. He’d rather it be just he and Jacinta. Maybe they could talk without things getting hostile again. The last thing he wanted was to get clocked in the face from Axel. So, when Axel left his number on the table and walked passed Zach patting him on the shoulder, Zach didn’t even know how to take that. And the smile that he flashed him was even weirder. But Zach returned the smile as uncomfortable as it was. He wasn’t sure what that meant for them though.
Zach turned back to Jacinta who was still watching him. He didn’t know what she was thinking, but he could guess it was much like what he was thinking. She was just as beautiful as he could remember which made it even harder for him to think of something to say. When she decided to say something first, Zach was a bit relieved, especially because it wasn’t something said in anger. Zach watched as she slid into the pizza booth. “Uh, I’ve been good. Just going to school and workin’.” He plopped onto the booth seat across from her. “How about….” Just as he started asking her the same question, the napkin with Axel’s number on it began to float up into the air. At first he thought it was just because of the way he sat down that it flew up; however, it began to hover. Zach quickly slid back out of the booth. It was more instinct than anything else, and he really couldn’t help himself. He watched as Jacinta’s focus was purely on the napkin as it fell slowly back to the table. He had just witnessed it yet again. This wasn’t a scenario he had imagined before if he saw her again, so he wasn’t even sure what to say. The worst thing he could do was act weirded out about it, but of course, his mouth worked a lot faster than his brain sometimes. Too bad this moment had to be an example of that. “What the hell, Jace.”
Once he said it, he immediately regretted it. When he had thought about seeing her again, he was never sure exactly how things would play out or what he would say to her, but he told himself that he would try to be open minded enough to understand what happened back then. And what he had said definitely set him up for some serious issues in that department. He sighed shaking his head. “I’m sorry. You just….scared me.” It had surprised him more than anything else. He wasn’t expecting her to do something like that being that that was what made him leave in the first place. But maybe she didn’t mean to do it. Maybe it was just something that happened sometimes. That was what he was hopefully going to find out.
