Another one down, a few hundred to go. Bowing down, he rested the dust pan on the floor. Raising a hand, a broom shot from against the wall and into his hand as he started sweeping. They say that life is worth the fight, but if he is subjected to always fighting, what was life worth? When things start getting worse, they don't get better. Ev knew that this year had definitely been his worst. So much destruction, so much damage, so much lose. Loosing his best friend, loosing his brother and by the looks of the shop, he had lost one of the best distractions in the place. He hadn't even gone out back yet, but Sarz was in a cage in the ocean until he got the place back to scratch. The amount of times this place had been destroyed, it was amazing that business wasn't dying. But he couldn't complain, Lana had been a trooper and trying to pic up the slack after - everything that has been happening. But like always, a demon was after them, and this one was powerful. Was everything destined to be destroyed alongside his fucked up destiny?
So he swept, and with no magic. With the amount of power inside him he could turn the store into a scene from Fantasia, but no. He didn't need anymore magic in his life, what was it doing that was beneficial. He couldn't save Axel, he couldn't save Jace, he can't even save a store. He couldn't save Lana, he couldn't help Xzavier. He can't stop Wes and Kyra. He can't stop Farra, he can't do anything. So he deserved to sweep, and sweep and sweep until all of this looked like it had gone away. Dumping the pan into the trashcan, he kept going. A cut was across his cheek, and a bruise on his forehead from only nights ago. He wished he was Lana. She was strong, she was turning everything around. Maybe he should have been indestructable too, maybe things would hurt less if that happened. He was probably going to flunk college because he hadn't been their in weeks. Life; it fucking sucked at the moment. There was nothing to keep him grounded and assure him that all this crap would staighten itself out. He just felt - lost.
Walking towards the doorway to the back of the store, he looked in. He searched for some happy memory, some kind assurance that he had been happy. It was the spot that Selena attacked them and the circle worked at a team to fight her. It was the place where his pet had died. It was the place where Thayer tried to kill him. It was the place where Ariel had tricked him. There was no good here, not anymore. Scorch marks covered everything, the floor, the walls, the new vials, the door to Sarz's tank. Busted wood covered the floor along with Lana's blood as he looked over everything. This was it. Nodding to himself, trying to bottle up his feelings even more, he turned and with the broom, smashed it against the wall. It shattered on the wall, splinters launching onto the floor as he swung it again, banging a hole into the wall. Well that accomplished - nothing. With a wave of his hand, the broom repaired itself as he picked it back up, accepted what had happened and started sweeping again.

Jayla had been in a daze after the events lately. Zach turned into a werewolf, Jace died.. What’s next? Someone else thrown into the mix of things? Everything just seemed messed up, herself included. Besides that, she had fallen asleep in class more, because she kept herself awake at night, in the room she shared with Jace, that was now eerily quiet. It had almost seemed like her spirit was still there, but that was impossible, she should already have moved on. So, it must just have been her own memories playing a stupid and most of all, annoying game.
Slowly she made her way to Charms ‘n Thangs, because her mind knew Everette would be there. When she arrived there, she slowly pulled the door, to see if it was open and soon stood in the doorway, looking around. ”Everette?” She called softly, not knowing if he was even here to begin with. When her eyes fell on the scorch marks, she made her way further into the store and gasped a little by the sound of something breaking and when she saw Everette, she realized how wide her eyes had been, because her heart had been pounding like a hammer once she saw all this, she blinked a few times to calm down. ”What happened here?” She then asked, as she walked closer and looked at his face, gaining a worried look in her eyes. ”What happened to your face?”

Holding the broom deep in his hands, he heard the voice. Who was this now? God himself to tell him that his life was over? Might as well be, how could things get more screwed up around here? Speaking of God, amongst all the messes he was called by this cat man that he helped a few days ago. Cruise was a cool guy, not really Ev's bouquet but he was strong. And he asked him something. A cupid in town was being directed by some angel to align a team of supernaturals against an upcoming evil, which by Cruise's words as 'Fuckin' destory tha' world!'. He had to contemplate it, because he had a lot on his plate. But he didn't want to be alone anymore. He lost his cause and his family in the past months, and all he has now is a shop that looked like the depths of hell had fallen upon it. Maybe - maybe it could be a good thing. Maybe he could make a difference. But maybe he would screw that up like he did with most of the crap that happens in his life.
But it was Jayla. Her innocence and atmosphere washed over him as he looked at the girl. Since Jace's funeral, he had talked to her on and off on the phone, kind of being each others shoulders. Except for lately for obvious reasons, picking up the phone was just redundant. He would need a shrink after all of this shit. But seeing her, he saw her eyes widen with worry as he moved towards her, and he towards him. Where could he begin with this? "Demons, what else". He bit his lip as he moved past her and set the broom against the wall, and than turned back to the blonde. "It seems all their is in my life is demons, Jayla. Besides - you". He said as he realized what a forward spaz ass he was sounding. He had - feelings for Jayla. It was weird, because for a while - more like a year - he hadn't had feelings for anyone. The closest to intimacy that he ever got to was an incubus, and that was something he would have liked to forget. He ran his hand through his hair as he turned back to the banshee, and swallowed his fear. What fear? He had nothing to lose right?
"How are you? I'm sorry I haven't called in a while. It's been pretty crazy. Did you hear about Axel". Best subject in the world. Why did he say that. Trying to bottle down his already over-flowing feelings, he bit his lip and tried to look away. How stupid could he get? His eyes started tearing, and he tried to look away but it erupted. It was a hickup and sobs, as he broke down. He didn't cry, he was always the middle brother, trying to be strong for the others. Trying to keep Xzavier in place, and trying to keep Axel from making the wrong choices when he could. But he failed a both, and his hands hit his eyes as he cried. In front of the girl he likes - smooth. But seriously, what else could he do. But it was strange that the presents of such a girl could turn him like this. He had always been sensitive, and always had burdens. But it was becoming just too much.

Jayla looked at him and bit her lip slightly, as she heard what Everette said and how he moved toward her. She had liked talking to him on the phone, because it made her feel less alone in this and obviously he kind of felt the same. But, when it had stopped, when he stopped calling her, she had begun to worry. "Well, believe it or not, you're the only thing or whatever in my life right now that actually doesn't feel screwed up. Other than that you're hurt, it's really good to see you." She had no idea how he would take this, but she kind of had to say it.
"I'm okay, one of my friends is a werwolf now, so I'm trying to be there for him." She fell silent and shook her head, at the mention of Axel. "No, what happened? Is something wrong? Are you okay? Is he?" She already felt worried and a wuestion like this about Axel, wasn't helping things. When he broke down, she took a few steps forward and after hesitating for a moment, she wrapped her arms around him, much like she had with Zach, but different somehow. "Shh, it's okay, Ev.." She said softly, trying to sooth him a little. There was nothing wrong with a guy crying, it only meant they were human.

He tried to smile. He tried to find a way to pour a grin over his face. But he couldn't. Maybe his smiling functionality was fractured by Farra or something. But it meant a lot, hearing her say that. There was something between them, he didn't have to be enfused with magic to know this. Maybe there was something here - something that could be more. He was convinced that he should probably mention the proposition from god being bestowed upon him to her. Jayla was powerful, she killed three vampires with one scream and had so much more to offer. But maybe later, since now they had bigger fish to fry. But what she said made his heart jump, and then speed up. "It's good to see you too". He told her as he looked across as her, and then tried to focus on her thing about the werewolf. He had killed so many wolves in his life that that didn't make the situation better. But the truth, Axel, was to hard to cope with. He had no choice but to cry.
They say at the end of every tunnel their was a light. Maybe Ev just found his in the form of a bubbly blonde banshee, and he was breaking down. The halls that bound his life together were falling down, his magic and his family that kept who he was bound together in one package, was a glue that held two and two together. In a second, it just disipated into nothing, and he was left empty and - alone. Well, not alone. His back slid down the counter as his legs felt like jelly, his hands on his face as he shook violently. He was supposed to look after him, and be there to help him through all of this. Six months down the drain of fighting and trying to control this one city, but the evil was too strong. It knew too much, and now it was over. Should he keep fighting, trying to right this wrong. Or should he let it fall, let everything fall to the ground and bury it. He was sick of fighting a losing battle. It was three against a million, and now two stand alone against a million and one.
He couldn't answer her questions because they were too real. Her arms wrapped around him as he cried, tears falling. He hadn't done this for a while. Maybe when Jace died, and when he killed a man but he hadn't cried for Axel. Not until now, and soon he felt the arms of Jayla wrap around him as he fell, sliding down to a sitting position as he felt her over him. The static coming from her was enthralling, buzzes of her energy flowing all of him as he felt - a connection. "No. it's not. First Jace and now Axel, I loose everything I touch, everyone I care about. Everyone except for - you". He said as he looked up at her. He needed to feel something, something that wasn't dark or tormented deep inside his phyche. So when he looked up at Jayla, his hand reached up. His fingers touched her cheek, running over and towards her neck. "Your the one thing in my life - that I need to hold onto". He said as her drew her in. He hadn't had a girlfriend since highschool. They say girls love the sensitive guy, but his life was too full on for anything like that. But Jayla, was something unique and special. A one of a kind girl for a one of a kind guy, and he wanted to kiss her right now.

Jayla somehow really wanted to hug him, put her arms around him and not let go for at least a couple minutes. Things had gotten out of hand so quickly that she was still going through processing it all. And it didn't go as quickly as she had imagined. When she heard what he said back to her, she smiled a little, as it meant a lot, even if it was such a small sentence. Maybe she wasn't supposed to have feelings for Zach, as she had thoguht after that stupid love spell, maybe it was just meant for her, to meet Everette, that she actually had feelings for. She however, wasn't going to overthink it all, it just didn't seem like a good idea at all, right about now.
When he slipped down to the floor, she just sat down too, as she kept holding him and rubbing his back in small circles. She wanted to say something soothing, like that it was all going to be okay, but she didn't really believe it herself. She would've if things hadn't become so messed up, with Jace's death and with everything going on around Zach, it was just a little too much. And it was a miracle she hadn't ended right at her room, crying like Everette did. She felt herself fall over him, but still refused to let go. She didn't want to lose the feeling of her arms around him, as it actually felt good. It was like static and not the static you get when you touch a door or something. No, this was good static. There was something -- good.
"I promise you're not going to lose me." She said softly, as she looked at him. Maybe it was a promise she couldn't keep, but she felt like she had to try, if she at least did that, then she knew she hadn't lost that one. That attempt, that.. Whatever it was. When his hand touched her cheek, she felt a slight shiver run down her spine, which was far from unpleasant. She felt how he drew her in and leaned in on her own. She didn't really know what to say and soon she just kissed him.

The most reassuring words he had heard all week, and he believed her. Looking captivated into her blue eyes, his own eyes transitioning from her lips to her eyes, his hand on her cheek. He hadn't felt this way for a girl before. Not the prom, not in highschool and definitely not in college. He guessed that the sensitive guy cut himself off from love because he had his own complicated relationship with the supernatural. And Jayla was just a girl, that had a good heart and was funny, and cute and honest. Someone that he could rely on, and for her to rely on. No matter what time of night, or where he was, Ev would be there for her. So the moment occured. That moment in between heartbeats when you know it is going to happen. His craned his neck up to face her, and closing his eyes, his lips touched hers. A small and light brush on her lips to begin, until he continued. He brought her in, his strong arms around her waist as he kissed her passionately. Everything was screwed up, everything.
His family was a mess, his schooling was on a giant hault, his social life was down to the toilet and love? Forget about it! Jayla gave him hope and assurance. It wasn't like he was going to walk away from her, ever. He remembered when his mother would tell him about love, and that Ev had the kind of heart that once it opens for someone, it never closes. It is the forever deal with him, and she already knew his deepest darkest secrets. Sitting Jayla on his lap, his hand remains on her face as his other hands ran up her back, gentle finger tips running up her spine. This interaction, was just what he needed. The pure truth that things can work out, that the world isn't shit. That he can save his brother, stop Farra and save the world. Parting from her, his forehead against hers he smiled slightly before whispering. "All I think about is you......". The truth came from his mouth as he moved closer again, and kissed her once again.
