Ai walked, it was a causal day, but she felt like maybe something was going to happen finally. She’d only met the coven here, and she was afraid that she hadn’t made a very good impression on them, what with her little moment. She still wasn’t sure what had happened with her. One second she was holding her head while it held her tongue as Noah spoke, but then… She could only just remember it now. Something had clicked in her mind, and the buzzing had stopped. She just knew what everyone was thinking, it was like someone tuning for a radio station had found one then kept flipping… Alright Ai might have dated herself by talking about tuning radios, but it’s an apt allegory.
Her heals clicked against the pavement with each step she took. The lights around the tee house were still on, and patrons were milled about. A couple of students and young professionals and more then a fair few older professionals doping up on coffee before they went home to their miserable lives. If you couldn’t tell Ai was in a foul mood. The buzzing was still there, she could cope with that. She could live with what had happened at the Vampire meeting, she didn’t care if she never saw Trenton ever again! Robert had been a nice person, and Connor looked like he needed guidance to accepting his new lot in life. She pushed the door open and it made a little jingling noise. Ai cringed at it.
This place made awful tea, and she really should be making some at home in her second bedroom where she kept the office and her designing materials when she had no place to put them at the space she was about to call office. But not even that was what bugged her. She was here to cope with that issue, using a method her mother used to do… Back in the old country. Go purchase a cup of tea, and then sit over it while you drank it slowly and thought about the problem. Though Ai had no clue how thinking about the lack of people was suddenly going to make them show up! She had no employees, no cleaning lady, and no parting friends. Ai was going to go insane! Where were all the people! Granted that this place wasn’t as big as New York it was still big ass big!
“A green tea please, from actually leaves if you have it.” She tried to smile naturally but was worried it looked forced. She sighed as she grabbed her cup and moved to sit down. She found the only open table and sat down and looked into her cup as she thought..

He dragged her everywhere with him, ever since that night. It was the first time in six years he found someone who could understand, who wouldn't hesitate to take a risk. While the word date was never involved, many would consider the places he took her to be date material. Bars, fashion shows, dinner, what else could you call it? Connor just liked to look at it as having a fun companion who enjoyed similar things or at the very least was an expert at feigning interest in the things he did. Beggers couldn't be choosers, he would take whatever he could get.
With Merry in tow, Connor made his way into the Tea Shop, though why he had come was a mystery to him. There was this odd feeling, like having developed a sixth sense, that told him that he might find something of interest here. That actually happened to him alot since becoming a Vampire, he found that he did things for no obvious reason only to find out that later they actually served some sort of interesting purpose. Taking a deep, though unneccasary breath, Connor could smell the fresh blood in the room.
"Bare with me here, I know I drag you all over like some doll." he said, laughing quietly as he expected Merry to be right behind him. "I've got an odd feeling about this sho-" he started, his eyes landing on a familiar face. The woman from the vampire feast, the one who seemed alot more reserved than what he called the rabid pack of dogs. Connor had taken a mild interest in her, especially since she seemed to have an incredible sense of fashion about her. "And it seems I was right to come here." he said, drifting towards Ai.
"Do you mind if we have a seat?" he asked, looking down at her. Of course he would politely wait for the invitation, she was one vampire he didn't actually care to offend. "I remembering seeing you at the.. thing." he finished, not really wanting to discuss it in front of Merry. Despite her acceptance of what he was, he felt that shielding her from some aspects of it all was neccasary, though she had probably researched it all anyway.
Sigh.

Merry didn't know quite what had happened since being bit by Connor. By all rights she should stay away from him. It was like baiting a wolf by parading a sheep in front of it but he was insistant and it was hard to resist him. He was just charming as hell. He didn't use persuasion as far as she knew he just needed her and she could sense it. Today she wore a red gown, some gorgeously tall pumps and a necklace that sparkled. She followed him happily. She saw it as dating but then it wasn't something you could really put into words easily. He made her feel alive as ironic as that was. Merry couldn't smell the blood but he was testing out his instincts and it was a good thing for him to learn to control them and not be controlled by them. She tried to be supportive and understanding as she could and keep up with him. Merry felt his hand tug her own, his fingers laced into hers as she smiled up at him, "The places you take me to are interesting and its always fun sneaking out and having you catch me." she remembered how hard it was to slip out her window to where Connor could help her down to where he was. She felt like a giddy teen around him and loved it. She hadn't realized how much she had been locked away and it made her feel so much happier to be out with someone who could protect her, well from everyone but himself anyway... "Pleased to meet you, Miss I hope we're not disturbing you." she said as she moved closer to Connor and pressed against him a little bit. The look on her face said she didn't know what thing he was talking about was but she trusted him not to mention something he shouldn't.

Almost immediately someone was talking to Ai about meeting her before and sitting with her. She looked up at the attractive man with a confused look trying to figure out what he was talking about. “Hmm?” Thing? When had she been to a thing lately? Oh! The dinner. With Noah, and the Douche and Robert Lovelace. She blinked as it registered what he was actually talking about. She bowed in her seat and smiled. “Oh! It’s a pleasure to meet you again. Please.” She indicated the seats across from her and nodded her head.
She smiled at the young Vampire’s friend and shook her head. “Please, it’s no bother! The pleasure is mine. Sit! Sit!” she demanded pushing the chairs out with her feet, trying her best to look the age her face did. She turned her attention back to Connor. “I’m sorry, I’m horrible with names. In my line of work you just run into so many people that it’s hard to keep up sometimes. I’m Yomato Ai,” she offered with a smile and an out-stretched hand. “And you?” she asked the young brunette next to him. She felt familiar, like Ai knew something about her. The buzzing got louder for a moment as Ai concentrated on the thought for a moment. She put her hand to her head and shook it.
“I’m sorry. I’ve been doing interviews all night. My head is still a little sore from dealing with want to be fashonistas…” She rubbed her temples and groaned. She hoped it would be a good cover for her headache, not like she hadn’t actually dealt with it. “I swear. In any of the fashion centers of the world you get those girls. They think because they come from money and they know who to wear clothes that they get the right to work in fashion! They have no work ethic and look at you stupid if you ask if they know how to make change!” She sighed and shook her head again. “I’m sorry, I’m ranting. Ranting isn’t good for Good Company. Please tell me about yourselves!” she offered by way of different conversations.
Ai wondered in her own mind why exactly the young Vampire was talking to her. She’d gotten the impression that night that he didn’t like his kind. But unsure of who his friend was, Ai couldn’t say anything. She just looked at them with a tired smile on her face, wondering if her lie was good enough to hide her true emotions. She crossed her legs and put her elbow on the table in a relaxed manner as she inspected each one. The Vampire’s friend looked great; Ai couldn’t help to lean in a bit to her to see if she could sniff at her perfume.

Connor seemed pleased that she remembered him, simply because she seemed to be the only vampire present who was not a monster. That alone made her stand out to him, he couldn't help but wonder how she had managed to be so okay with it all. Of course he couldn't start the conversation with that, it would seem odd to just lead with that. "You look wonderful, just as good as the night of the dinner." he said, guiding Merry into a seat before taking one himself. His face seemed to show sincerity as he spoke, there was no hidden intention here aside from his need to understand how she coped with it all.
"I understand entirely. The trust fund babies who have never done an honest days work in their life." he replied, laughing as he nodded. Looking her over, he could see that her clothing seemed to be self made, he couldn't place a designer to what he was seeing. As odd as that would seem to most people if they heard his thoughts, he enjoyed watching what the new designers came up with. "Sounds like you could use an extra hand around the shop?" he asked, raising a brow as he leaned back in his chair, making himself comfortable as if he was in the presence of a friend.
"I think I got a bit ahead of myself however, I'm Connor, this is Merry." he said motioning to her. "I don't think we got a chance to formally meet, given the nature of our last encounter. You seemed a little more reserved than the others, when I saw you here I couldn't help but say hello." he said. His composure was shaken a bit however as she leaned forward towards Merry, his first instinct was to defend. Being a Vampire himself he obviously knew what she could do if she wanted, though he probably shouldn't have been so quick to judge her actions as so far he was the only one in the room who had hurt Merry.
"If you need a hand in your shop though, I might know a couple of people who could be of use." he said, trying to reclaim the situation. His body relaxed, though only a vampire or something with keen eye sight would be able to tell that he had tensed.

Merry sat down gracefully and crossed her legs, "Its a pleasure to meet you. I totally understand about trust fund brats. I'm a librarian myself but my dad wants me to take over the family business in a few years. As Connor said I'm Merry, Merry Lovelace." she said as she offered her hand to the woman and listened to her and Connor speak. "I just wear what I like usually I don't always wear high fashion." she admitted as she looked between them with a smile, "Sounds like you could use a few girls with more brains than hair." she winked playfully.
She got the sense that Connor was tensing just as Ai leaned in and sniffed her. The scent of Chloe Narsisse would fill Ai's nostrils as Merry looked a bit between the two. Her hand went out to touch Connor's arm and she could feel his muscles under his shirt like a tiger ready to spring. "I take it you two know each other from other events?" she asked lightly as she looked to Connor. Her mind was working quickly but none of it showed on her face.
She continued to offer a gentle reassuring touch on Connor's arm though at this stage whether it was for him or her who could say? "I'm glad you like my perfume." she added softly as she glanced about the room then looked to see if there was a waitress about to bring another set of menus. An alarm went off in her clutch and she checked it. It was her monthly reminder to pack for the visit to the other home they rented in town, Once a month her dad insisted she go there so she could sleep and rest for the week. She felt he was a bit over concerned with a monthly situation but he had been insisting since she first started her cycle. No doubt her dad was weird. The only time he hadn't insist she go elsewhere was when she was at boarding school and away at college in Arizona.
"Tomorrow I need to start packing to make sure the other house is in order." she mentioned ofhandedly to them to explain the alarm. "I usually end up checking it once a month so it doesn't get dusty and such. Dad's eccentric as anything. You'd think he came from another century with how he sends me off every month in seclusion." she muttered.

Ai smiled at Connor. “Thank you. It’s my own label… I’m the only one that actually ever makes the kinda clothes I like. Everyone else will have almost a perfect line then… The dull colors come out, I hate it. I’m glade you like it though,” she offered with a genuine smile. She reached up and touched her head as the buzzing took an up turn. The young Vampiress had no clue that it was caused by the young man thinking at her about her lifestyle of choice. If only! I mean, Spirits Above! This is getting annoying! Every time I go out! My bedroom window is starting to look friendlier.
“I could,” she said with a pained smile at Merry. But she perked up to give a proper sitting bow to Merry. She tried to breath normally underneath it… Had she said Lovelace? As in Robert? The guy that hadn’t looked all that happy at Connor at the dinner where they had been told what to do, not asked for input. Ai pushed that thought aside and thought again for a moment about the issue. Was this the reason for Robert and Connor’s dissention at the dinner? Well you know what they said about assuming and Ai had done just that… Now she wasn’t quite so sure it wasn’t because Connor had told them the equivalent of the self-hating Jew wishing the Holocaust had worked… “It’s nice to meet you both. I’m Yomatto Ai,” she said in return trying to look neutral the way her mother had taught her, her mother’s noi mask smile.
Ai smiled at her and winked. “I wouldn’t expect anything else from Robert’s family,” she offered with approval on her lips. “I’ve met him around town a couple of times since I’ve moved here, the name is so unique I can only assume you’re related?” she asked more confirming her own suspicion about that then really guessing. She did enjoy the reaction from Connor. Ai contemplated seeing if she could get more reaction out of Connor. It was fun sometimes pushing buttons on people, seeing how they reacted. But she sensed Connor was young still by his actions at the dinner, and she didn’t think he’d be able to control himself, or his temper. She sat back again waiting for another chance as Merry’s alarm went off. “Father’s, mine was similar. A business man from Japan,” she replied to Merry. Hmm… Off once a month? That speaks volumes… I wonder why Robert would offer her help if he hasn’t told her why? Or is she hiding why because she doesn’t know me? Ai smiled back at Connor only all too knowing. “Are you offering? I’m often at the store alone at night, it would be nice if I could have some company.”

Connor smirked, he had assumed as much which meant that his eye for spotting new work wasn't as bad as he thought. She wore them well, though he knew her problem all too well, nothing really appealed to him when he stared into his closet. If he had an ounce of talent himself he would have done the same, however he was no tailor, nor was he creative enough to design anything for his own look. "I know what you mean, I fight with my wardrobe every day, nothing in it seems to suit my mood." he said, folding his hands together and placing them on the table. Connor seemed quite a bit calmer when he wasn't surrounded by a bunch of blood sucking douche bags, present company was of course excluded.
He watched Merry and Ai for a moment, their expressions telling some sort of silent story. Connor was decent at reading people, though Ai wasn't giving away as much as he would have liked. He could tell however that she had put together the connection between Merry and Robert, only a dunce could have missed such a thing. It was almost impossible to keep himself from making a comment about it, though he managed to choke back his venomous words long enough to have a civial conversation. If he had a stake at that feast he would have sealed the deal right then and there, he was young so his temper was unchecked.
"Unfortunately." Connor mummbled under his breath, crossing his arms over his chest now. Ai would have easily heard it, but he was hoping that Merry would only hear it as a jumble of words that sounded more like thinking aloud. In fact right afterwards he wore a smile, much like he had said nothing at all. Crushing his arms against his chest, Connor resisted the urge to use them for other means, more aggressive ones. While normally he wasn't so over protective, he was weary of his own kind no matter their character, he knew all too well the thirst never left anyone, not truly.
"I am offering, actually. I find myself doing a whole lot of nothing lately, I haven't had a job in about two years." he said, laughing. It sounded so strange to say, like he had been a homeless drifter for those two years. That was mostly right however, being an oprhan fledgling.

Merry heard Connor mumble and she leaned in gently and placed her head on his shoulder. Looking up into his eyes she reached over and tickled his ribs gently, "Yes, Robert Lovelace is my father. Connor and he do not get along." she sighed softly and stopped tickling him to hug his waist gently. He seemed so very tense and she didn't know how else to ease what was bothering him. Ai didn't seem to have done anything really wrong.
"I'm not sure why but I figure its because they are so different from each other besides the fact that I don't think my dad would ever approve of any man I brought home." Nornally she wouldn't be so clingy with Connor after just meeting someone new but she didn't want him getting angry any more. "It will be good for you to meet others." Merry nodded in agreement before perching her chin on his shoulder again, crossing her eyes playfully at him to make him laugh.

Ai’s eyes zeroed in on Connor as she looked at him pointedly. “Hmm,” she said in response to Merry’s comment about Connor and Robert. She’d picked that much up at the dinner. And to some degree she understood the bit coming from Robert, no one would ever be enough for his little girl, but… “I’m guessing the comments you made at dinner didn’t help the situation?” Ai pointed out trying to gauge just the problem that Connor had. Hadn’t he had over protective parents for the girls he’d dated in the past? Ai could only pursue her interest in the same sex for the last thirty years compared to the sixty of her short life, and already she knew that some parents just never liked who their daughters dated… She’d figured it out while it was still illegal. But Connor’s reaction to him… That was different.
She smirked at the playful teasing Merry offered Connor to try and calm him down. It warmed her heart and she nodded in agreement. “Some times two people are like oil and water, even when they have so much in common.” She tilted her head. Merry was good people. Ai was sure about that much. And Robert had a good head on his shoulders. But Connor, the boy was an enigma. She sat back and took a sip of her tea watching him, gauging to see his reaction to Merry trying to calm him down. If anything Ai looked like she herself might be tensing up. In her experience Connor was dangerous to Merry if he didn’t calm down.
“I would love the help actually. How are you with money?” she asked leaning forward on her elbows. She placed a hand around her cup and twirled it back and forth a little bit. Her face was very straight, despite being worried about Connor’s reactions, business had come up. Her game face was on and Ai was concentrating on nothing but work.

Thinking about the events of the dinner frustrated him even further, he never imagined this was all there would be. Being a vampire seemed so much more glamorous than it really was, the killing, the maiming, the constant pain he was in. To see the others enjoy killing, enjoy being the monsters they were made him feel sick, if it were at all possible. "I guess not, no. But it was the truth, I am nothing if not honest." he said, shrugging his shoulders. He had opinions that never stayed in his own head, no matter how much he exercised self control.
Connor felt Merry tickling his ribs though outwardly there was no real effect on him. Normally he would have pretend at the very least to make her attempts seem like they weren't in vain, but the mere mention of Roberts name made him sour as he was sure Connor's did as well. Glancing over to Merry he offered some sort of awkward smile through his inner frustrations, before returning his gaze to Ai. Raising a brow at Ai' s comment, Connor decided to let it be as he could tell it was not meant to be a bad thing. Even he could tell that he and Merry were an incredibly odd pair. Offering a soft sigh, Connor scowled, "Your father doesn't like me because he is a.." he said, he trailed off when he realized he was about to bash her father in front of her.
"So, why a Tea Shop? If you don't mind me asking. That stuff can't honestly do you much good." he joked, leaving Ai's indentity out of the picture. He purposely left the comment open to interpertation, not every vampire in this city wanted to be outed to a human. "That is if you don't mind me asking, you didn't exactly look like you were having a good day from a far." he said, leaning back. Placing an arm around Merry without really thinking about it, Connor practically crushed her to his side. It took him a second to realize that he probably misjudged the use of strength, he didn't want to smash Merry or make her uncomfortable.
"Consider me on board then, if you will have me. I am fairly decent with numbers. I can't write you an experimental physics equation, but I can keep track of accounts." he said, adding a playful wink to his comment. Whatever else he didn't know about running a shop like this he could learn, the mind of a Vampire could quickly absorb information. In only hours he could learn things that took most normal people months of crunching and made them lose a ton of sleep over.

Merry glanced between the two, she didn't know her dad had had dinner with them. She was just trying to get the gist of the conversation. She picked up that Connor wasn't ticklish just by the fact his skin didn't twitch. She stopped tickling him and relaxed gently. Trying to soothe her mind from any worry she had about things she could not control.
"My father doesn't like you because he is overprotective." she said as she looks up at him and smiles. She listened when he and Ai spoke of work and when he squeezed her a little too tight she exhaled and wiggled a bit. Letting him know that he needed to ease off a bit but that she wasn't going anywhere. If he does she'll just relax into the crook of his arm and listen to his conversation with Ai.

Just like the night at the party the buzzing stopped and Ai starred at Connor like he was a stranger she’d just met. Merry seemed bored of the conversation, knowing that much of it didn’t seem to bother her. Connor however, was furious at what he’d become the night he was given what Ai called the Kiss. “You don’t have to be like them. They think their better then everyone and not all of us are like that. I’m not. Even dear Merry’s Robert isn’t.” Ai told him as she tilted her head at him, looking at him like she’d never seen him before. Then just like that, the power was gone. The buzzing came back enforce and Ai swooned backward as secon.
She smiled at them weakly when. “I’m sorry. I have no clue what that was…” she said as she gripped her head and shook it vigorously trying to clear it. Her haid whipped back and forth with the effort shimmering in the light. “See?” she said, somehow knowing that the moment was important to something she’d said. She smiled at Merry. “Relax, sooner or later he’ll figure out what to do with the cards he’s been dealt and play the game we all have to play.” She nodded at Merry. “So you’re a librarian? How did you manage to go from a musical household to books?” she asked her trying to include Merry in the conversation again.
Ai nodded her head and reached across the table to grab Connor’s arm. If she was allowed she’d pull it away just a bit and smile at him. “I have a problem when pretty girls can’t breath,” she warned. The threat carried more with it then just a simple let go. Her tone warned him that if he didn’t relax soon she was going to remove Merry from his reach, forcibly if she had to. Either way, Ai just nodded. “Well I’m sure my liver doesn’t look that great from the Tannin, but it doesn’t do anything adverse. And to be honest, it’s a habit. My mother and father were from Japan.” Ai picked up her cup and took a long sip of it. She looked at it for a moment then put it down again. “My mother was an entertainer and my father a successful business man. When either of them were stressed, or they saw that I was stressed growing up, they would take me to the local tea house just down from my mother and I’s apartment a few blocks from our flat in New York and we would drink tea together… Dealing with trust fund brats, as you put it, tends to stress me out more then just a little.” She sighed with a pleasant smile on her face, “The taste reminds me of them, and of better times. I’m sure either of you understand?”
“Excellent,” she said sitting back and crossing her arms. “What about Janitorial work, or sewing? Can you do either?” she asked him as they sat. “Since you’ll be on the night shift with me, I’ll need certain help in the shop. And I’ll need someone to cover while I’m gone on trips to other shops and places to gain inspiration. How are you at going over check lists and making sure every last thing on them is done, exactly as it’s written?” Her work brain was definitely on again…

Connor stopped to stare at Ai for awhile, wondering why she was looking back at him as if she had never seen him before. Tilting his head for a moment, he waited until she finished speaking, even if he had already formed a response to her comment in her head. "What if I don't have a choice? I have no self control, even if I don't enjoy it like them, I still hurt people." he said, seeming frustrated as he was at the dinner. He was an expert at brooding, it took him quite a bit longer to let peoples helpful advice sink in. "Everyone keeps saying he's just being a dad or is some stand up gu-" Connor paused for a moment, wondering if she knew about her dad.
Stopping to consider this, he fell incredibly quiet for awhile. Though Ai quickly brought to attention the fact that Connor had misjudged the use of his strength. Glancing down at Merry, he blinked his eyes apologetically before letting his arm slide back to his own side. He couldn't even get that part right either, there where times where he would simply start walking, walk to fast, and end up terrifying people. "Right.. sorry. I tend to misjudge that still. I've smashed every door off it's hinge in my house.." he said, seeming embarassed a bit for his lack of control. But why did he care so much what she thought? She was a vampire, he had decided awhile ago he didn't care what they thoought.
"Your father is also judging me before he truly knows me as well. One of the things I hate most; people condemn before letting me try. I've been met with it my entire life." he said stubbornly. Since the problem was already on the table, why not talk about it. She didn't seem to worried about the woman sitting across from them. Is that what you called them? He would have prefered it if people just called them it, monster, or creature. That was how he felt about what they were.
"I can do both, fairly well actually. Though I am probably better at sewing than cleaning." Connor said, smirking. "I grew up without a mother, without money really. I used to fix my own clothing so that I didn't have to replace them. It was just easier." he admitted, not seeming ashamed of the way he was brought up. "I can assure you that I won't let you down. I work twice the speed of a normal employee, don't require a break, and don't have need of your money. I am basically risk free." he said, offering a playful smirk.

Merry heard the comments going back and forth, her own mind working a mile a minute. Her brow crinkled in thought and she exhaled slowly as she let the two discuss vampire politics for a while. Connor didn't like being a vampire and saw himself as a monster. She looked back at Ai and smiled, "Yes, I've got a head for information and facts. Things just stick in my mind. I always thought it was odd that dad wanted me to learn so much but maybe if he's like Connor and you..." she exhaled, "Oh I don't know maybe he didn't want me getting in the lime light because my mom and family was murdered except for my cousins or maybe he was preparing in case I got turned into a vampire. I'm not psychic I don't know what to think." she admitted softly as she sipped at her tea.
When Connor apologized she smiled and patted his arm gently, "Its okay. I don't know about being a vampire but I understand it takes a while to get your feet under you. We've talked about this. You know I'm not going to get on your case about things." she said gently. She ran her hand down his arm softly to punctuate her words and to let him see she wasn't just saying it. "I'm sorry my dad is being an asshole. I'm not around when you guys talk and I've tried giving you some guy time so you could discuss things."
She exhaled and just rested her head on his shoulder. She'd run out of words to say and she looked between them, "I think its good for you and Ai to talk and maybe she can help you. I mean I know you don't like being a vampire but if you learn how to use it it might not be so bad and you won't feel so alone." It hurt her to see him struggling, "Please, Connor? Just give it some thought okay? If you don't want to do it I completely understand." she relaxed against him and sipped some more tea.
