Reginald sat back in his leather chair with a soft creak as he watched the survelance camera of his daughter's midnight visitor. A vampire, the same one he'd gotten a glimpse of when he'd picked her up in the limo. He exhaled as he watched the vampire race off. There was no sound but he didn't need it to query Marina about her visitor.
She was not quite coherent when he touched her mind. The drugs had addled her a bit. That was to be expected. She told him everything though and he inwardly made a point to find out who Trenton was.
The file in his hands was sparse. His help was awful. It was why he insisted on Marina having a MLIS under her belt. He needed her to do the fact checking and to tell him the realities of a situation. She usually gave in and did what he asked after some rather painful persuasion. She fought him every time.
He'd made a point of getting ahold of Trenton's people to arrange this meeting. The sky was dark and he sipped at his Chianti as he waited for the vampire to arrive. Why a ruthless killer would spend time with his daughter baffled him even as it angered him. His daughter was his and she was not going to be used as a snack by the number two vampire in the city.
Still, there were possibilities. He'd have to feel Trenton out to see what he wanted. If he was willing to form an alliance then he could provide supervised access to Marina. He didn't usually condone or permit such. The last male that had shown interest had some odd kinks and Reginald had had to drain him. Reginald knew he was a pervert and he wasn't going to hand his daughter over to one even for a chance of power.
He sighed. It would be so much easier if she was a succubus. This whole sordid mess would cease and the game would change. Marina refused and sadly the ritual had to be voluntary. Details were so annoying.

Trenton walked into business complex, his mind racing. He had been told to go see Reginald Sinclaire, which meant that he had probably found out about his late night visit with Marina. I hope I did not cause trouble for her. I would not forgive myself if anything were to happen to her, he thought to himself. But what other motive could Reginald have than to find out what he was doing hanging around his daughter. His eyes clouded as he thought back to what Marina had told him, the difficulty of him not being able to touch other people, abusing her when his emotions got too much...how he had killed her own brother to protect her...This conversation will be interesting if nothing else he thought to himself. A few minutes later, he came to the office door that Reginald had specified. Then, he knocked on the door. With anyone else, he would've just barged in, but Reginald Sinclaire was a powerful man and a demon to boot. It would never do to anger him. Trenton waited for a response to his knock and tried to think of what he would say to the man when he started asking questions.

Reginald rose and approached the door, opening it himself he beckoned Trenton in with a polite nod. "Good evening Mr. Moore. Please, have a seat. Would you like something to drink?" he asked as a way to make polite conversation. He moved to back behind his desk and steepled his fingers, "Mr. Moore it seems you have met my daughter Marina and made an impression on her. This is a rare thing indeed. My daughter does not speak with many people but you've spoken to her twice, once in her hospital room unsupervised I might add."
He steepled his fingers together and eyed the vampire across from him, "One has to ask why. After all my daughter is of no importance to vampire politics and you have a reputation of being a blood thirsty killer who doesn't see humans as anything of value save as food." he looked over at him and raised an eyebrow, "Yet you have not fed from her or turned her. Not that I am not greatful. I am rather pleased my daughter has survived your attention thus far but I have to ask you one simple question."
"What are your intentions towards my daughter, Mr. Moore? Do you have feelings towards her and if so what do those feelings entail? My daughter is a virtuous girl in spite of all that she has had to deal with and is not someone to be trifled with. I will not let her be used and tossed aside is that clear? I may not be the best father to her, but I have always done what I felt was best for her."
His steel blue eyes travelled over Trenton, "What could you possibly see in my daughter? Granted she has gifts and skills but anyone knows that vampires have far superior talents to that of my daughter. Why choose to speak with her? Word on the grapevine says that vampires in LA already know of your "pet" human. As degrading as that sounds for my child to be considered anyone's pet."
He rose and began pacing, "My first instinct is to tell you to leave and never return but that would just cause my daughter to seek you out all the more. So, I am asking you what is it you hope to gain? Are your intentions honorable? Because if they are not I shall have to separate the two of you for her own safety. She is more than some commoner on the street you understand. I can't just have her darting off higgly piggly whenever the mood strikes you. You'll have her clinging to your back and be calling her spider monkey like those damned Twilight films." He snorted and waited for Trenton to speak. His gaze taking in the vampire's appearence.

Trenton nodded in thanks and then stepped inside the office. He listened as the man stated that he had made an impression on Marina had visited her twice, once unsupervised. Ah. He is displeased that I visited her without permission, he realized. "I apologize if I have been out of turn with Miss Sinclair," he said out loud. "The first night I met your daughter, I will admit that I thought that attacking her would be an excellent way to get to you. However...for some reason that I cannot explain, I found myself intrigued by her and the thought of doing her harm no longer appealed to me," he stated. Though the admission would most likely get him staked, he deduced it would be better to be honest with the man.
Reginald went on to say that he was confused as to why Trenton, who was as blood-thirsty as they come, did not turn or kill Marina as she had no dealing with vampire politics, though he was grateful. "As I said, I found myself intrigued by her and the desire to do her harm left me. I can..not explain why," he answered, keeping his tone respectful.
Then Reginald asked the question that he had been expecting since he walked in: what his intentions were towards Marina, did he have feelings for her, and if so, what did the feelings for her entail? Before Trenton could respond, Reginald went on to say that his daughter was virtuous and he had always done anything to protect her.
"Yes, she has made that perfectly clear, Sir," Trenton stated, dipping his head respectfully, as was the custom. He thought back to what Marina had told him about the one brother, something that still caused his eyes to flash, but he kept his features normal, not wishing to ire the man before him. He listened as Reginald went on to say that word had gotten around about Trenton's "pet". " Pet'" They have been calling her that?" he queried. Normally, he would not have minded if a human was called that, but Marina was differnt. He did not want that moniker to be placed on her. "I...apologize for that particular moniker being placed upon her. It was never my intention," he assured him. Then Reginald went on to say that he was tempted to seperate them, but that it would just probably make her run after after him. Trenton rolled his eyes at the Twilight reference. "Please. I am nothing like those pansies and I fail to see why that series is so popular. In this decade, L.J. Smith is the one that has us more correct," he responded. Then, "Despite your difficulties, you truly care for your daughter, do you not?"
OOC While I personally rather like the Twilight Series, I figured Trenton wouldn't care much for them.

Reginald regarded the vampire in front of him with a raised eyebrow, "My daughter has a habit of soothing even the darkest soul. I suspect its the way her gifts have manifested." he mused and nodded at Trenton, "I do worry about her you understand." He walked over to a cabinet and pulled out a decanter of aged scotch and a glass. He poured himself a small glass and then gestured in case Trenton wanted on himself. "You say she is not a pet to you and I thank you for that but what are your feelings for her, young man? You must articulate them. I need to know it, she needs to know it, and your fellow vampires need to know. After all if they wanted to hurt you all they would have to do is harm her. I picked up on your worry that I would harm her for your unexpected visit and I want you to understand something, I know you are older than she is and far more worldly. IF anything inappropriate happens I will hold you responsible. You are the older party by far." He did chuckle at Trenton's disgust at the twilight vampires, "I was trying to add a little brevity into the situation." he agreed as he stored the information that Trenton gave him away. "I do love my daughter very much. She's very precious to me. When I found out she had run into you I took it upon myself to bring her home for her own safety. "She has also befriended one of the lovers of the Trinity Brothers. He's Noah's latest Fledgling. I am leery of the boy talking to her but he seems harmless and is gay so supervision is not as tight. If I find out that Eli has harmed her in any way I will remove her from his influence." He sipped his drink and regarded Trent quizzically. "My daughter is nothing like her brothers. They all chose to become incubi and gave in to their baser urges. She doesn't often speak of them. It is a painful subject for both of us. We do our best to work through it. I regret causing her pain but at the time I did what I thought was best. Ezra lost his mind and had to be gotten rid of." he sighed softly and took another drink. "Are you planning on courting my daughter or are you just looking for platonic friendship?" he asked softly, his gaze intense. Trenton's words seeming to be very important and far more vital than they might be to someone else. (OOC I understand I just like being silly. )

Trenton nodded in agreement when Reginald mused that Marina had a tendency to soothe the darkest souls and that it was probably the way her powers had manifested. "Hmm...I suppose so," Trenton said. Then, he took the offered Scotch, poured himself a drink. "Good year," he complimented. "I...mean no disrespect in this question, but is there holy water in the Scotch? I must confess that I let myself get tricked by a hunter around a hundred years ago. It...was not one of my finest moments, but then again, I was a mere fledgling when that transpired," he continued. The man went on to say that he was relieved that he didn't consider Marina a "pet" and that he needed to know the vampire's intentions and that other vampires needed to know. He then went on to state that if another vampire wanted to hurt Trenton, all they would have to do is target Marina. "Yes, that has crossed my mind and I have already started putting the word out that she is not to be harmed. However, I found that there are some vampires that are going to need some more...forceful persuasion and will do so as soon as possible," Trenton told him.
Trent's eyes clouded at the mention of the Trinity Brothers. "They are...not ones to be trifled with. They are...tremoundous fighters. We recently were forced to work with one another to stop a powerful and...deluded demon. We are...no longer working together, but I would not...underestimate them. They are powerful warriors...strong, and are---might I spare a compliment---courageous," he said truthfully. "The second and third brothers are a bit more accepting of the supernatural, the oldest...he's more black and white. He is the one to be wary of, though not due to his character," Trenton said. He couldn't believe he was actually exhtoling the virtues of hunters of the supernatural, but he felt that the man should know that while the Trinity Brothers were a threat to them on a supernatural level, he had no cause for alarm where their character was concerned. Now why am I concerned about them? I should be doing all I can to get them killed, he thought. But for some reason, he had felt a need to make their stance clear.
When he mentioned Marina's brothers and that they had made the decision to give in to their powers, Trenton's eyes clouded. At the mention of the brother who had tried to hurt her, Trenton let out a small growl, but did nothing. Then came the man's question of whether or not the vampire planned to court the girl. "I...do not know her well enough to court her. And if I were to decide to pursue her in that fashion, I would most certainly come to you first," Trenton responded, once again dipping his head respectfully. He fell silent and waited for the man's response

Reginald raised an eyebrow, "I would never ruin a good scotch with holy water." he said dryly as he looked at his own glass, "It would hardly do to burn myself and you with holy water now would it?" he smiled a moment then moved onto other matters.
He listened to Trenton speak on his fledgling years, "I am an older gentleman myself. Marina was a definite surprise." he set his glass down and looked at a bit of brick a Braque in his office. "If you can keep my daughter safe it is a good thing as far as I am concerned."
When the talk of the trinity brothers came up he raised an eyebrow, "My daughter has not done anything to attract their attention. She is a good girl, Mr. Moore. She's a good student, and an excellent librarian. I think having the Trinity Brothers as her friends is to her benefit personally. She's even managed to meet the roommate of Axel Evans. I'd say she's doing quite well at keeping herself protected."
Reginald's steel gray eyes looked over his own dark ones and he smiled, "I thank you for that curtsy Mr. Moore. I do think that if you do develop deeper feelings for her we do need to speak further on the topic. You are a vampire and she is not. That could pose a problem for you depending on what your Elder's stance on pairings is." He walked back to his chair and sat down, "So I should expect random nightly visits, then?" he asked him. "I hate surprises but if I know you're coming to speak with her on a regular basis I will make sure she is available."
He'd managed to broker something useful from their relationship anything else could be built on. He passed him his home address, "This is the house. You'll have to get Marina's consent of course but that is easily accomplished I imagine."

Trenton nodded at Reginald's comment that their drink wasn't laced and that it wouldn't do to poison himself. Yes, I suppose that is true, he thought to himself. "Thank you for your indulgence and again, I apologize if I sounded disrespectful," he stated, taking a slow drink. The last thing he wanted to do was anger the man. He could drop him any time he chose.
Trenton let out a small smile when Reginald stated that he was an older man himself and that Marina had been a surprise. "And what a surprise, huh? Miss Sinclair is quite the girl," he fondly stated. She is quite beautiful, and such a kind soul, he thought to himself. Then, "I will do my best to keep her safe."
Trenton listened to the man's point of view on Marina, mentioning her job at the university's library. "Yes. I've seen her working there. I, uh, I've been posing as a university student as well as a high school student. Broader feeding ground. A bit problmatic considering my situation, but..." He then kept quiet as the other man thanked him for his courtesy and that if his feelings towards Marina changed, they would have to have another conversation as she wasn't a vampire while he was. Trenton's eyes clouded at the mention of his sire. "I...do not recall who my Sire is," he admitted. "And in answer to your question, I will do my best to not make my visits random. If I wish to spend time with her, I will contact you, unless of course we're on campus...because that would just get a bit awkward." He then took the paper offered and looked at the address. "Thank you, Sir," he murmured.

He nodded, "It is good to be cautious. It keeps you alive. I can hardly have my daughter meeting with a man that can't protect her. The fact that you think on your feet is a good thing." Reginald said simply. He studied Trenton's reactions and his body language gave him away. He was worried Reginald would not approve. Not entirely unjustified but it had been a while since someone had been this eager to make a good impression on him.
'The vampire has it bad.' Reginald thought to himself. He had thought of little else but his daughter this meeting and while Reginald could see it he didn't know if Trenton was aware of how much he was thinking on the girl. "Yes she is Mr. Moore. I've had her trained in music, history, theater and art, calligraphy and the bit of dance she could manage. She speaks every language known to man and has been taught everything she needs to know to make it in high society. She sings like an angel and can play the piano possibly well. Her mathematics are a bit weak but then she's dyslexic so its understandable." He felt the urge to laugh at himself. At the rate he was going he might as well call Marina in and let Trenton examine her teeth. "I have every confidence in you being able to keep her safe, Mr. Moore. After all the best protection from those who would harm her is someone powerful like yourself."
"Well it will be good for her to have someone escort her home in the evenings. It always worried me when she worked late. You can certainly understand that." he said as he spoke.
"I was meaning Noah's opinion on you spending time with a human. I realize that sire's often part from those they turn for large spans of time." Reginald sipped from his glass, "I do appreciate you telling me when you plan to visit the estate. I have no problems with you visiting her on campus. It would be good for her." he said with a slow smile, "I think this is going to be very beneficial to both of us Mr. Moore."
His daughter would be happier and more likely to relax and not be in such a rush to escape if she knew there was a reason to stay. All to the good in his mind.

Trenton gave a nod of thanks when Reginald complimented him on his abililty to think on his feet. He stayed quiet as the man went on to list all of her accompliments. One would think he was marrying her off or some sort of thing he thought to himself. That was not a thought he was real pleased with, but he wasn't going to say anything.
The man went on to say that he felt that it would be good to have someone escort her home in the evenings as he worried about her. "Yes, I certainly can understand that," he agreed. Reginald continued, stating that he had been speaking of Noah. "Ah, yes. While I have not spoken to him directly of late, I know that he prefers to live in his solitude and has no use for interacting with humans, which I would think would make it difficult to survive this long, but then, I am not Noah," he responded. He fell silent when Reginald mentioned that Sires often spent vast amount of time from the vampires they sired "I'd imagine so," he murmured.
Trenton relaxed his stance when Reginald said that he appreciated that Trenton would tell him when he planned to visit and that he had no problems with the vampire visiting his daughter on campus and that it would be good for her.
The vampire nodded in agreement when Reginald said that the arrangement would be beneficial to the both of them. "Yes," I would assume so," he murmured.

Reginald could read that Trenton was displeased at how the conversation was going and so he steered it onto other matters deftly, "Speaking of not being like Noah, what are your long term goals, Mr. Moore? Well...long term by human standards...do you have any plans in the near future and could those affect my daughter?" he asked him quietly as he set his empty glass down.
He relaxed a bit and smiled once Trenton gave him the information to his question, "I think that is all I wanted to speak with you about, Mr. Moore. I can think of no other fatherly questions to ask you. You are free to go if you need. The interrogation is over." he said with a jovial look in his eyes. "My daughter is probably fretting in the hospital and I will be having to fetch her shortly.

Trenton's eyes flickered slightly as Reginald asked him what his intentions were, what had his plans were, and if so, would they affect Marina? Trenton's brows furrowed in concentration. What were his intentions towards Marina? I honestly had not considered a further plan where she is concerned, he thought to himself. While visiting Marina had distracted him from his original goal of taking over Los Angeles just a bit, he was still making plans to take over...he was just trying to be subtle about it. "At this juncture, I am merely trying to be Miss Sinclair's friend. She has given me no indication that she desires more and I will not overstep my bounds with her. I have been trying to create an army in order to gain ground here, however, I will do my best to keep her out of those plans and I do not foresee it being a problem, though if she does happen to become involved some way, I will protect her to the best of my abilities," he replied.
When the man told him that the interrogation was finished and that he was free to leave, Trenton gave a curt nod. "Thank you," he said respectfully and the man went on to say that he was going to pick up Marina who was still at the hospital. "Yes, I have felt her frustration at being cooped up," he chuckled. Then, "If I can spare a bit of advice, Sir, trust her a bit. Give her some freedom. She loves you and understands where you are coming from, especially about your powers, but she needs to feel that you trust her." He wasn't going to mention the bruises he had seen left on her. Perhaps this would give something to ponder. Then, with another curt nod, he walked out of the house.
