To bad the psychic instruction hand book didn't come for alternative sources. I mean, police. Ewww. Paiten didn't even want to be caught dead near the station. It either looked like she was an officer or that she was a criminal. Sorry, but neither. She was just a pretty girl wandering towards the doors of the station because - because - she lost her dog? That would be good enough for her, but the hard truth was far from it. Walking up to the door in heals, jeans and a leather jacket, she opened the door quickly and walked on inside. She didn't know what to expect. Would it be all CSI? Like all scientists looking for causes of killings and stuff? Would it be like the Men and Black? If she found Will Smith in there, she would call dibs. But from what she could gather from Kathy was that if she wanted help on some 'not-so-normal' stuff going on around LA, some inspector Cooper was to go. Inspector? It sounded so trench-coatish.
Walking into the waiting room, she decided to piss off the waiting concept and just find him. Focusing, she let in the telepathic connections in the building. The word 'dough-nuts' was caught by her. God, how stereotypical. Some guy thoughts, some girl thoughts and gross, some old guy thoughts. Then she caught onto him, and he was in his office. How convenient right? Walking passed some people, she caught the words of the receptionist. "Excuse me, do you have an appointment". Paiten sighed, hating to have to mind meld someone. It was usually fun. Getting things for free by convincing the person you paid. Convincing your boyfriend that he cheated and not you. But now it was going to help. Looking at the receptionist, she focused on her thoughts. "She has an appointment. Right now actually. Let her through". Paiten gave her an innocent smile as the receptionist smiled back. "Go right in sweetie". Thank friggin god. She didn't want to get caught up in police crap right now. Walking towards his office, she worried. She had had a dream last night, about a boy who had blades coming out of his hands, and was getting obducted by some ordinary people. It wasn't right and even though this kid wasn't exactly human, she couldn't just let him get hurt. Unfortunately, she didn't get a good enough look to locate him psychically so the police were her best bet. Fat, perverted pigs who check your cleavage more then checking your files. She just had to take a leap of faith. Knocking delicately, she opened the door and walked in. "Um, Inspector Cooper? Hi, I'm Paiten Chase". Still taking the leap of faith guys.[/blockquote]

Taking a sip of his coffee, he laid back in his chair as he felt satisfaction in nailing down most of the pile of cases he had on his desk. He had spent countless sleepless nights reading over them and writing brief reports, and now it seemed like he finally had a break. However one thing he learned about this place was that you had to take your 'breaks' for granted, and also, that they really didn't last too long. Like now, for instance, as his head tilted up as he heard a knock at the door. Not even half an hour, time to go and buy a bagel or something, if he liked eating bagels? He supposed he would have to take for granted that he was finishing up within the hour, and could relax tonight or chill back with a scotch, or something.
The door opened, ans he assumed a co-worker with more files, however instead a rather beautiful blonde girl walked in, in casual clothes nethertheless. Huh? He thought to himself, trying to regain focus so that it didn't look like he was staring at her freakishly, or something. She knew who he was, but he was still confused how she managed to just come into his office like that? He didn't recall the receptionist telling him of any appointments, at least thats what he thought, anyway. Although she could be slack at times, she was usually on the ball with telling the detectives of any appointments they would have, mainly to see if it worked for them. Although this timing didn't work for him, it seemed like it was a bit late for that. Though looking at her seemed to work for him...What was he thinking?
"Hello? Pardon me for asking, but do I know you? I don't recall having any appointments this afternoon, unless you have other business?" He was curious what 'busines' this woman might have him. It wasn't uncommon for people to come in and speak to officiers about incidents, or things like that. But most of the time those things weren't always spontaneous. He supposed he could let it go for now, seeing as this girl seemed like she needed some help with someone. He wasn't one to knock back the need for help, after all. "Please, sit down, how can I help you Paiten?" Seems like his day just got that much more longer.

"Yeah? Well, time to get a new receptionist". She smirked as she closed the door, going to take a seat at his desk. He was cute! The whole stereotype had been overpowered by the sexiness of this person. Blonde spikey hair, what seemed like a toned body. If she needed help, she definitely knew where to go now. He reminded her of his boyfriend, you know before she found out he was sleeping with her best friend, and it was a big weakness. Big weakness, I mean she still went back to him for a week of wildness. Sitting on the seat, she flicked her hair off of her shoulder as he asked what she wanted. Now, how to approach this. She could feel his curiousity. Empathy was always fun. She just had to word this correctly so she didn't look like a psycho criminal, a geeky crime stopper or a freak.
"Right, um. Last night, a 'friend' of mine kind of stumbled onto some guys loading this kid in the back of a pick-up truck. Like a big black truck. She didn't get a good look at the guys or the boy, but the license plates. It was DFK 134 VI9. And - - that's about it". Smiling, she rose from the seat, ready to leave. She didn't know what to do? Was this all she could do? Pass on the information and go back to imitation of a perfect existence. Where she has no job, no career and the acting thing was going nowhere. Yeah, it really seemed like Paiten at the moment to give up. On everything. Just like her father gave up on her. A hurt expression crossed her face as she turned from the detective and towards the door.
"Look me up if you find anything, I would really like to know what the dealio is". Twisting the nob, she then sensed something. A vision, so clear. It was the psychic energies intercepting with hers, and she obtained a clear vision of the truck. It was speeding down town into the docks, seemed to be some supernatural shipping going on around there. Snapping out of the vision, she let go of the nob. Give up? She couldn't, not even if she wanted to. Turning to him, she thought. "Well, I was thinking maybe it could be something really illegal. Like exporting kids on like - boats and stuff.". Subtle right?

He stared at the woman, a slight smirk appeared on his lips at her comment. What could he say exactly? She was probably right, the receptionist was hopeless. It was just a shame it took someone on the outside to come in and say it to him, even though it wasn't his call on what to do with the receptionist or something. The receptionist couldn't even show Paiten to his office, it was just...A lot of strange things about this receptionist which really made him anxious to talk to the boss about replacing her. She didn't even smile too much, and he thought he was the unfriendly one towards other people?
He raised his eyebrow at Paiten's next explanation of events. Well, that wasn't too suspicious, now was it? Sure, she had a pretty good description of what sounds like a potential crime, however how did she, or her 'friend' actually know this? Sure, Paiten explained that her friend stumbled upon it. But how often do people just 'stumble' upon things in this town? "And when we say 'friend' is this just a hypothetical friend so that you don't look suspicious under the law, or does this 'friend' just decide to console in you and have you come and inform the police about it?" He stared at the woman curiously. He wasn't saying she was the one smuggling kids onto the back of the truck or anything, but he just didn't understand how she could have so much information but come to him now, of all times? "Did your friend at least try and call the police? You know, before the crime could actually take place? It can be extremely difficult to track down this person now, as they could've easily dumped the truck, burned it or just made a clean getaway now." He didn't entirely understand why this woman was coming to him now with this information. She was blonde, maybe it was really true what they say about them?
He raised another eyebrow as the woman got up and went to exit, before turning and hinting that it could've involved boats. "Yes, that is a high possibility, which makes things even more complicated as the boat could've gone anywhere. Is there anything else you could think of from what your friend said? We have enough to go on from all of the details your friend provided, but more is never a bad thing." He smiled softly at the girl, though still trying to work this whole bizarre thing out still.

He had to be the most inquisitive person she had ever met. She wasn't exactly sure if that was the word for it, but it sounded okay. He was really curious like all cops are, trying to get to the bottom of things. Paiten dug that. Since her view on cops being fat tight-asses was gone, she was so into the man in uniform look. But she couldn't think of that now, she had to save this kid. The vision was of the present so even if the killer-kid wasn't there, then the people in the truck would be. They could stop this, or she could. But if this cop wasn't going to budge then she would be flying solo. That was a friggin scary thought. Right now, he was wondering if the friend was a 'hypothetical' friend. She really failed with this wording thing in her statement, and now slouched in the chair and smiled. ''Um, no comment?''. One hundred points are now deducted from Team Psychic.
Sitting at the desk, she then swung her legs up as she sat casually on the seat. Reaching forwards, she grabbed a letter opener off of Cooper's desk, figiting with it as he covered the totes boring stuff. He was cute, but he talked to much. She was already losing concentration with him when they should handle the situation at hand; freaky little munchkins getting scooped up in a black van and scooted down the yellow brick road. Paiten didn't have time for this. ''But the past is the past right? Let's try not to get sidetracked sweetie, we have someone stealing kids and they could be getting away''. Rolling her eyes, she turned her attention back to the opener. She then realized; a letter opener? What a dork?
She had turned back from leaving, and now he was full of doubts. She just wanted to convince him that it was happening right now and they were running out of time. But really, it was like talking to a studly manican. She thought of ideas, seated down in her casual position again as she pondered. ''Hey, don't they have import and export time sheet thingymabobs? Like, for the public. It could be leaving like right now - - or, you know, later. Maybe''. Maybe she shouldn't talk. She just really hoped that kid was okay.

He became quite suspicious of this woman. She didn't look like the 'bad' type, however looks could be decieving in this city, and he didn't trust easily, he had his trust broken in the past, and wasn't about to waltz into some mysterious case he knew nothing about, which could be a trap, and with someone he also didn't know anything about. Apart from a name, which could be one of those hypothetical names, just like her friend apparently was. He was usually very good at reading people, and he wasn't sensing any reason to trust her just let. He wasn't just one of those guys who fell for the beautiful woman and went under their thrall, or something.
He raised an eyebrow as she begun playing with the letter opener on his desk, and looked on in shock as she rested her feet up on the desk. "I'm sorry the chair wasn't comfy enough for you. Would you mind removing your feet from my desk, this is an office and we don't just throw our feet up onto desks whenever we feel like it." He shot her a distrusting glance. People like her just frustrated him, the way they acted and thought they could just do anything, even in a police office. If she actually genuinely wanted to help someone, fine, but the way she was acting just sparked suspicion all about her; how she found her information was one of the main suspicions he was having. Although if true, he would want to solve this case, he just couldn't let it go by on how this woman knew too much. Was she involved, and feeling guilty about it, or something? He wanted answers, and she would soon give him some, one way or another.
Maybe she was right, maybe they were getting sidetracked, but...He was a cop, and part of what a cop does is to get down to every single detail. This woman had a lot of details, but many of them just weren't making too much sense. He sat back in his chair slowly, focusing his glance back on the girl. "Okay. Where abouts did this 'friend' see the act take place? It might give an indication on whether similar offences have taken place in the area, allowing us to create a link between them. Most cases involving theft like that don't just 'happen.' They are commonly linked to other offences in the area leading up to the act." If what this lady was saying was true, he would have some work to do, as he would have to look over some recent files and find connections. Great, just when he thought he finished his heavy reading for the day.
He nodded at her added comment, also wondering how she knew so much about this. "You seem to know a lot about this, is there any reason for that?" He questioned sternly, focusing on the girl to determine if there were any signs of lying or misleading tones to her answers. "They are helpful, yes, however we need more than that to go on. There are many ships which board on a daily basis, we can't just go on a guessing game and check all the ships, we don't have time for that. We can look into where the numberplate you gave us was last sighted, which might help us out. But other than that...We don't have too much at the moment." He smiled softly as he looked at the girl. They would find answers, time was just the key aspect here.

This crap was taking to long. May he be hot or not, no one makes Paiten Chase wait. No one. But he had to do the cop thing and from her oppinion, the speculative thing. He just couldn't be reasoned with. Paiten just wanted him to accept what she said, play with the computer for a second or two and then fly into the scene from a helicopter and beating up bad guys. Unfortunately this was reality, but not all of it. She was used to swaying people, manipulating their minds to her own desire. It was fun, and made things very very interesting. But not yet, he had on being all annoying. Her feet were up on the desk, and then he snapped at. She looked at him with risen eyebrows. Really? "Sorry Sherlock Holmes. Jesus Christ!". Then she looked away. The cute ones were always the most difficult.
More questions. It was friggin' annoying. How do cops do anything when their just thinking all the time. It was like the hardest profession in the world. Charlie's Angels made it look sooo much more fun. He asked about where it was, and now Paiten's patience was running thin. "I don't know. Who cares, we are focusing on this little boy honey. Little - boy. No friggin' shop lifters, leave them to the rejects thankyou". Smirking, she decided to remove her feet from the desk. She guessed she had might as well be respectful since - well - she could get arrested. Arms crossed, she waited for more suspicions. And having known this guy for about five seconds, she could tell that he wasn't lacking in more questions.
Why she knew? What a good question he had. When he said it, she knew that he wasn't buying what she was selling. Something very knew for Paiten. So, leaning forwards and looking into his eyes, she smiled devishly. "Girl's intuition". He then tried to be reassuring, but reassurance wasn't what she wanted. She wanted to save this kid. He seemed to want to run by protocol, but she could give a shit about that. Reassurance wasn't going to get them anywhere fast. Rolling her eyes, she then rose fro, the seat. "Well, get back to me on your findings. Because I'm going to help this kid, and not waste time on questions. I don't test well". Turning from him, she walked out the door and trotted out of the door with her heels busking on the ground. Looks like she would be doing this alone.
